How a Pump Works
The pump is driven by an AC or DC motor
In front of the motor is a valve assembly containing two to five valve pump chambers. Each valve chamber has a diaphragm behind it in the lower pump housing. As the motor shaft turns, an internal cam positioned behind the diaphragms causes the diaphragms to be pushed forward, then back in a continuous sequence creating a suction. As this suction builds, fluid is pulled hrough the inlet, through the various valve chamber check valves to the outlet he volume of flow is determined by several factors including: the number and size of the pump chambers,cam offset, operating pressure, fluid viscosity.

- Submersible pumps are among the pumps used for pumping liquids from a sump or reservoir at low level. The non-submersible pumps are placed above the the liquid level. Submersible pumps are immersed in the liquid in the sump. The submersible pumps have positive suction head while the submersible pumps have negative suction head.

- You might be able to drive short distances. but if you rev the engine it might go out. to be safe i would to it. if it still works and hasent went out on you yet than you might be able to drive it. Good Luck
- Q: Water pump is STILL constantly running! Since this past thursday, we did:new check valvenew pressure controlnew foot valve (well)well is not dryprime, air pressure are finewe have above ground pump in the basement. we called a plumber and he could do nothing! we have water and pump/tank and everything seem working fine.But the pump is on and off every 30 seconds - 1 minute. It is so annoying and out of ideas what could be wrong.My husband think it could be the tank and suggested that we replace it. But the plumber didn't say anything about the tank. And it is not too old.Do you think it is the tank and we need to replace it? If so, we will do it on this Sunday morning even though it might cost extra charge! please help!!!
- If the pump is running it is being asked to from some where. The pressure switch is what calls for it to run when the pressure drops. So if the bladder in the tank was bad it could cause an insufficient pressure fall and that is asking for the pump to run
- Q: We usually wait 4 - 5 minutes for hot water in our master bath. I've been looking into ricirculation pump systems. This would have to be a retro-fit system since some of the lines run through concrete slab making adding a return loop on the line non-feasible. I have found some people comment on simply using a by-pass valve system without a pump (ie. Hot Water Lobster). We do have hard water which I've also read that can present a problem with pumps dieing quite quickly. While I'd like it, I don't need 1 second hot water, but I can't stand wasting gallons waiting for 4-5 minutes. A reasonable 15-30 second wait would be a huge improvement. Has anyone had reasonable success with the bypass valve without the pump or should I plan on getting the pump too? Thanks in advance!
- A by-pass without a pump is going to do nothing. The pump moves the water from the heater to your sink. They do have the under counter heaters, but you need to have them plumbed for gas or have electrical run to them.

- Q: Okay heres the deal Its knockin and I tthink the water pump is going would this be a cause of this and when it heats up it knocks but when its cold it doesnt knock also once it gets hot it shuts off and starts to smoke what could this be is it maybe the waterpump when I try to re start the car after it shuts it self off it only just clicks wount turn over thanks
- jason is right on this. a water pump wont do what your saying. it sounds more like something inside the engine is knocking, like a rod bearing.

- WELL CRUDE OIL ARE UNDER PRESSURE ALREADY. WELL OIL BURST OUT. SOMETIME BLASTED. SUBMERSIBLE PUMPS ARE BETTER OPTION, IF REQUIRED. STORAGE OIL CAN BE TRANSPORTE/MOVE BY USING CENTRIFUGAL PUMPS.

- Q: I've been hearing a noise from my truck that sounds like a fan blade is rubbing against something metal but I could never figure out what it was and my truck seemed to be running fine. - wiggle the fan blades and if they move any it is a bad water pump, they will also leak a little bit under the main shaft of the water pump housing, there is a hole on the bottom and top just for this reason, the metal squealing is the impeller in the water pump, it wont last long now
