How a Pump Works
The pump is driven by an AC or DC motor
In front of the motor is a valve assembly containing two to five valve pump chambers. Each valve chamber has a diaphragm behind it in the lower pump housing. As the motor shaft turns, an internal cam positioned behind the diaphragms causes the diaphragms to be pushed forward, then back in a continuous sequence creating a suction. As this suction builds, fluid is pulled hrough the inlet, through the various valve chamber check valves to the outlet he volume of flow is determined by several factors including: the number and size of the pump chambers, cam offset, operating pressure, fluid viscosity.
- Q: How large is the starting current for a 1.5 kW submersible pump?
- The starting current is 2-7 times the power
- Q: I have a leak on the front of the engine by the timing belt housing coming out of a small hole by the alternator. I assume it is a leaking water pump. How do to go about changing the water pump?Short clip of actual leak coming from the hole by the alternator and under the timing belt housing
- water pump is timing belt driven, so you have to pull all of the belts off, the timing belt cover and that belt also. if that belt has not been replaced in 80,000 miles. you want to do that. i had a 93 civic and a 90 civic that i did the belt and pump in at 230,000 miles. it takes a little time but it is not that bad. the harmonic balancer has to come off for the timing belt also.
- Q: A guy i know changed the Water pump on my 02 Chrysler Sebring with a 2.7 in it because it was leaking coolant, when i got it back the leak was fixed but now there is a ticking noise. He thinks that the Timing Chain Tensioner needs to be replaced... can i get some opinions here? does he sound correct?
- It is possible. The water pump is driven off the timing chain on that engine. Why didn't he replace the tensioner when it was apart is a good question. The fact that it is now ticking isn't a good sign. I hope it was lined up properly.. get it looked at soon before there is the potential for damage.
- Q: The submersible, intermittent pump for my household water well, which is undergound out in the yard, “bangs” when it starts and stops, and vibrates the pipes when it runs. Any idea what might be causing this, or how to make it stop doing this? This all started about 5 months ago and has been getting worse.
- It sounds to me like water hammer. There are a few ways to address it, probably the easiest is to add an expansion tank. To find out, try connecting a garden hose somewhere in the system, preferably a cold water pipe. Drain all the water from the hose and put a nozzle or plug on the end so the air can't escape, then turn the valve on. The air in the hose will act as a cushion and, if water hammer is the problem, you won't hear it while the hose is connected. That is not a permanent solution, just a simple test that might give you an answer. Good luck
- Q: So when you exercise, is the amount of salts and water pumped out in the loop of henle reduced, if so why????
- Salt impacts the osmotic interest of a cellular. this implies that once it somewhat is modern-day in severe concentrations interior the cellular, water strikes into the cellular with the aid of osmosis. This extra water getting into the cellular could reason the cellular to rupture. interior the kidneys an identical mechanism applies. whilst the concentration of NaCl is severe interior the tubules extra water is retained interior the physique. besides the incontrovertible fact that, whilst the concentration of NaCl is low interior the Kidney tubules much less water is retained by utilising the physique.
- Q: I have a 1985 Jaguar XJ6 that runs great, that I was thinking about trading for a 1991 Alfa Romeo 164 that needs a water pump. Just wanted to get feedback from Alfa owners and find out how hard it would be to put a water pump in the car. Thanks
- About $130.00 for the water pump (first link below). As for the difficulty, take a look at the second link for a good thread on replacing the water pump on the 164.
- Q: i have a problem with what i think is my water pump, and i was wonder if anyone had any websites that have free engine diagrams, and if it is my water pump, it turns on and off when at idle, is that normal, if not, what could be the problem?
- The water pump runs whenever the engine is running it doesnt stop unless the motor is off. If it's leaking out of the weep hole or making alot of noise it's most likely bad. Your best bet it to buy a manual or take it to someone.
- Q: I am about to replace the timing belt in a 3.4L Toyota V6 at approximately 85,000 miles. The motor has had the Toyota red coolant, which lubricates a water pump very well. Should I, Or should I not replace a Toyota Water Pump also, at this mileage (85,000)? Could the original water pump last until 170,000? Thank you
- Your caught between the devil and deep blue sea! Everything is apart including the water-pump. It's not a bad idea to have it changes as long as they're past it to change the timing belt. My dad had a reverse issue with his Avalon which has the same motor as yours. The water-pump was leaking so he went ahead and changed the timing belt @ 67,000 miles. Do as you please! the water pump is extremely easy to change when and if you need it done. The ball is in your court! Personally I don't have a lot of faith in Toyota water-pumps. My wife had to change the one on her 04 Camry @ 83,000 miles. No timing belt on the four cylinder motors after 2,001.
- Q: 90kw pump star delta start, in the end to use the circuit breaker, AC contactor (Star contactor, angle contactor), what kind of thermal relay?
- The star delta circuit you give belongs to the international standard starting mode, different from the old gb. The first said (the old national standard, is actually the domestic elders step-down manner, they are the main contactor) after shunt implementation of star triangle, so there will be a larger contactor, down economic calculation. And the new international standard (you give the circuit diagram) can be seen that the air switch to select the motor current to meet the given amount of surplus, 90kw motor rated current 175A, so choose 225A air switch can be. 1KM 2KM is the main operation of contactors, contactor, they each pay half the current line in triangle, so choose 110A (like never seen 100A) current, 3KM star, because of short-time current will not cause damage to the contact, a little lower 80A is not affected. Heat meter: if you don't use a transformer, you can choose JR36---160A.Some friends may feel small, in fact as long as you pay attention, you will find a lot of electrical equipment factory are doing this standard. In this way, both cost savings and service requirements are met.
- Q: Pump performance parameters have three sets of data, how to understand the flow, lift, flow speed
- 1, the head is composed of a water pump design decisions, such as motor speed, power, blade shape; the flow is determined by the motor power and lift, the same power lift higher flux is small; velocity determined by flow and pipe section with a pump pipeline section greater velocity.2, the pump is to transport liquid or liquid pressurization machinery. It will be the prime mover of the mechanical energy or other external energy transfer to the liquid, the liquid energy increase, mainly used to transport liquids including water, oil, alkali liquid, emulsion, suspension emulsion and liquid metal, but also transport liquid, gas mixtures and liquids containing suspended solids. Pump performance of technical parameters are flow, suction, lift, shaft power, water power, efficiency, etc.; according to the different principles of work can be divided into volume pumps, vane pumps and other types. Displacement pump is to use its studio volume changes to transfer energy; vane pump is to use the rotating blade and water interaction to transfer energy, there are centrifugal pumps, axial flow pumps and mixed flow pumps and other types.
