Wilton carpet, like Axminster carpet, is woven. However the difference between the two methods is the way in which the carpet is woven. Whereas the Axminster yarn is woven into each weft and then cut to the required pile height and then reinserted when that colour is needed again –the Wilton carpet yarn is a continuous strand woven all the way through.

I don't have access to expensive supplies so I'll need to know how to do it myself with out steam `cleaners or anything else... - For a rug this large, I suggest using either a foaming cleaner, like Woolite Spray Foam Carpet cleaner or a dry granule cleaner like Capture or Resolve. The both types of cleaners are a simple application. Just spray on the foam, agitate with a brush to work into the fibers, allow to dry and vacuum up. Dry granule, sprinkle on surface and work into the fiber with a brush and let dry, then vacuum. If you have spots or stains, just work either into it with a brush. I like the Woolite because it also contains a scotch guard that leaves a stain repellent and makes cleaning up spills easier without staining.

- Carpet tiles are usually commercial grade and style, and have little or no padding properties. If that is acceptable in your application then they are a fine choice. The cost is comparable, cleaning is identical, and damaged or worn pieces can be replaced individually. They are also easier to install, and can be replaced or installed by any reasonably handy individual. If you have any specific product or installation questions feel free to email.

- Make sure their litterbox is clean. Many - no, all - cats hate it when their litterbox isn't clean, and so will take their business elsewhere. As for the stains, there's plenty of good cleaners out there at Walmart or Target. Use them a couple of times, and the smell will be gone.

- I use homemade carpet cleaner in my Bissell ProHeat. I grate a bar of Zote--or use 1 Tbsp. Zote flakes mix with about 2 cups hot water. You would want the mix to sit for a while, or even put it in a jar shake it, to get the chunks/flakes to dissolve. I use this recipe find it is just as good, if not better, than the expensive store-bought stuff.
