Wilton carpet, like Axminster carpet, is woven. However the difference between the two methods is the way in which the carpet is woven. - Q:Whats all this nonsense i hear about shampooing carpets and such? can you really do that? and like, how? hah sorry apparently my friends mom was doing it to her carpet yesterday and i am bored and thinking about doing it to my carpet but i need to know how first :D
- you have to buy or rent a shampooer or steam cleaner and then follow the directions.
- Q:What should i know to avoid being scammed or over charged for a new synthetic (debating between polyester polyester nylon) carpet pad for a Living room stair case. What is the average amount of additional carpeting needed?
- Go to 3 different carpet stores. Choose the carpet you like and ask for an estimate. Most reputable carpet stores will give you a free estimate. It will tell you how much carpet you need. How much padding. What you need to prep. It is cheaper to have the room cleared. If you can't then you have 3 different estimates. When choosing the carpet. Bend the sample in half. If you can see the backing choose a different carpet. You don't want to be able to see the backing if possible. The denser the carpeting the better it will hold up to wear. Get the best padding you can afford. If you have pets get a vapor proof liner pad. If it is a berber carpeting it should be stretched drum tight.
- Q:I have an approximately 2'x2' section of carpet that is snagged and needs to be replaced.
- While the repair may never be invisible, remove a 2' by 2' section from a closet or hidden area and use this piece as a templet to remove the damaged area. Place double stick tape on the floor around the cut area and insert the replacement piece. Of course it is best to use a hot glue or seam iron. replace the hidden are with the damaged piece
- Q:what is better cheaper?Linolium or Carpet?Where should I look for no glue linoleum?
- To answer the question.. Overall on a medium priced and grade product in each line, carpet generally runs cheap , along with the installation is usually cheaper. Of coarse you can buy a cheap and more expensive product to say I m wrong but on a low medium or high priced item from each , again comparing each , carpet generally is cheaper. Any flooring store will carry both glue down and perimeter bond vinyls and possible linoleum ( there is a difference ). Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar . GL
- Q:Doesn't carpet bombing subdue countries quicker and with less casualties than other methods?
- No, it doesn't. The most bombed country in history was North Vietnam, and they were scarcely subdued - they ended up winning the war! I wonder if you've been reading Mitchell and Douhet's theories? In reality, air bombing is very effective against point targets or small-area suppression. But trying to carpet-bomb with conventional explosives simply creates alot of collateral damage. It doesn't give you any additional military effectiveness while putting your air-fleet at much greater risk.
- Q:Can I use a fabric dye (RIT), and just paint it on the 3quot; wide border? Want to change from present light blue to dark brown.jackie
- I have worked with Rit dyes quite frequently and although they are good dies for natural fibers, I am not sure painting a boarder will net the results you desire. First of all, the dye has to be mixed with salt. Because you will not be able to rinse and spin the dye out of he rug, that salt will just remain in your rug when the dye has dried. This may leave salt crystals in your rug along with making it quite stiff. And,because the dye is wet, it will certainly bleed outside of the boarders of the rug. Another problem is the dye bleeding onto the floor causing permanent damage. Even if you can jump over these obstacles, the dye will remain in the rug, full strength because it can not be rinsed and spun out, so it can easily transfer the color from the rug to your shoes to other areas of the house. And, heaven forbid, if the rug gets wet at a later date it will reactivate the dye and boy I will hear you cursing from here. So, you see, using this type of dying process is really full of challenges and there is too much to go wrong so I do not think it is worth the risk. However, there may be other dyes I am unaware of. Do an internet search on dyes and also rug dying to get some helpful hints and possible products that will net you the results you are after. I have lots of resources that I will check on and edit my answer if I get more information.
- Q:I'm going to redo the flooring in my bedroom, so I was checking options. Traditional carpet is not really in my budget, so I was thinking carpet tiles, I really have no idea about them so all the info will help. But what I want to know the most is the seams, are they noticeable or will they blend in? I'm thinking plush carpet tiles if that makes a difference.
- Ideally, you need a sub-floor for carpet tiles. If you have hardwoods, you can ruin them with carpet tiles. Otherwise, I have carpet tiles in my attic, which is my kids bedrooms. I went with that style intentionally because they love anime and we went with an Asian decor. Here is where I also admit that the builders put in a sub-floor for us and gave us the carpet tiles for free...lol I love them. One of my husbands friends is a very handy person and helps with all the DIY, so he helped to lay them. There are no seams and I think they are perfect. Carpet companies usually have some carpet that they will sell for cheap. We had them lay a plaid carpet in our basement because it was good quality, but wasn't selling because its plaid. I love it. Its off white with navy and black lines. Perfect for our exercise room, my sewing room.and under the pool table. Made us get blue felt for the pool table and I think it's beautiful. Check with them.
- Q:Every inch of the carpet is soaked!
- If done by some one who was thinking water might become a problem in a basement, they will have installed a carpet that can be used in a situation you have described. Have you a remnant go to some carpet place and ask and look at those carpets that are displayed to determine your situation. I say your OK.If its loose laid (that is not glued ) rent a wet or dry vacuum and suck up all the water you can. then place whatever you can under the carpet to allow it to drain more and place a fan so it can blow under it if possible if you can't get it up for what ever reason just keep the fan and wet or dry vac working.
- Q:What does carpet handmade scissor mean?
- Make the patterns into three-dimensional patterns, divided into two kinds to show the patterns: Shear and slice are different cradts under same a process. The shear is to cut along the edge of the pattern. slice is a little bit more expensive than the shear. That is to say; the slice: Is to use specialized electric scissors to cut
- Q:how do my friend and I get blue-green marker stains out of carpet without making it worse? hopefully quickly?
- If you go to your local grocery store (price chopper, Hannafords, shop rite, etc.) Sometimes you can rent carpet cleaners or if you go to a bed bath and beyond or linens and things you can buy a carpet cleaner. I think mine is called green monster or something like that and it works great. =) hope this helped sincerely ariescutie45
