Wilton carpet, like Axminster carpet, is woven. However the difference between the two methods is the way in which the carpet is woven. Whereas the Axminster yarn is woven into each weft and then cut to the required pile height and then reinserted when that colour is needed again –the Wilton carpet yarn is a continuous strand woven all the way through.
- Q:What about carpet shedding?
- Finally, the most simple wool carpet can prevent hair loss, which is the use of anti hairfalling agent, but, like the anti hairfalling agent must be used as required, otherwise, the excess not only will not solve the carpet shed problems, will also affect the softness of the carpet.
- Q:The carpet shall be cut, bonded and spliced into a whole piece, which shall be directly paved on the ground without bonding with the ground, and the surrounding shall be trimmed along the corner of the wall. This method is suitable for carpets that often have to be rolled up or the floor of rooms with unusual and heavy loads. Fixed type: cut the carpet, bond and sew it into one piece, and fix it around the floor of the room. Two methods can be adopted: one method is to stick the four sides of the carpet surface with the ground with adhesive or double-sided adhesive tape; On the other hand, we set up wooden card strips with upward nails on the ground around the room, and set the back of the carpet on the small nails with the wooden card strips facing upward.
- The operation sequence (1) is connected to the size of the room carpet. The length of each section of carpet shall be about 5cm longer than the length of the room. The width shall be calculated according to the size of the edge buckle of the carpet, and the carpet shall be trial paved and positioned. When cutting the carpet material, the wool weaving direction of the interface carpet shall be consistent to avoid the generation of male and female surfaces. (2) Lay the cut carpet on the ground, fix one side first, then tighten the carpet with a tensioner, and then sew with the above stitching method. In the process of carpet laying, attention should be paid to make the wool weaving direction of the carpet consistent with the main light irradiation direction, so as to reduce the adverse effect of leaving anti wool marks on the carpet when walking, resulting in messy marks irradiated by the light. (3) After the carpet is trimmed by the wall knife, the carpet can be fixed by driving the carpet into the upward nail of the wooden card strip with a flat shovel. Finally, seal it with a pressure strip, and clean the dust on the carpet with a vacuum cleaner.
- Q:Are they really washable? does it mean machine washable or hand scrub washable? thanks
- If they fit in the machine than i guess they are machine washable if not then hand scrub, i think it just means you can get them soaking wet and they wont be damaged so if you wanted to wash them you can, however way you do it
- Q:How can I clean the carpet? Can I wash it with washing machine?
- When the carpet is dry, the weight is not too large, but it is still relatively hard after soaking and can not be turned in the washing machine. In serious cases, it will damage the washing machine. Therefore, it is recommended not to use the washing machine to wash carpet.
- Q:My male cat just recovered from a urinary tract infection. He urinated on my beautiful fairly new woven rug for the very first time (he ALWAYS goes in his litter box); that's how we knew he had an infection. Ever since that one little offense, he decided that the rug is his and he drags it around my house. I sprayed and cleaned his tinkle off of it immediately right after the offense, why is he doing this? I put the rug back but over and over he drags it to other rooms. How can I claim my rug back?
- Agree with Lindsey. However take the rug to be thoroughly cleaned to get rid of the odour then reclaim as already suggested.
- Q:I have a large family room - 25 x 16 feet. I currently have a 9x12 rug on one side and want to add another on the other side of the room. The rug that works best with my existing rug only comes in 5'8x9 or 8'8x10. The first seems a little small and the second a little big. Can you have two large rugs in one room or does that overpower the room? I would only have about 14 between the two rugs if I went with the larger rug. It seems like it would look like a little landing strip. But I don't want the small one to look like a postage stamp. What to do?
- Lay out a template of each rug size for the chair and ottoman area. You should be able to see more clearly which size would be best. Also the rug in that area does not have to be large enough for the pieces to set totally on. It merely has to define the area and add interest.
- Q:I have a rug that is handwoven from India. I am finding it hard to keep free of debri. When I used a vaccum little fuzzy things came up on a few spots of the rug. Any other ideas?
- Handwoven and hand knotted are not the same thing. Flat rugs woven on a loom may be weft or warp faced (the back and forth or the up and down threads are predominately what you see.) Hand knotted rugs have each thread or yarn looped through a mesh backing and passed under itself to create a firm stable pile. Stiff bristles abrade carper fiber, especially flat woven rugs. This is true whether the bristles are stationary in a straight suction tool or on a spinning roller. Carpet professionals will tell you not to use a 'beater bar' on a fine rug. A brushroll IS NOT A BEATER BAR, though it is mislabeled in parts inventories, vacuum manuals and catalogs all the time. A brushroll may HAVE a beater bar as part of its construction. A beater bar is a bar that spirals around the roller so a different point contacts the carpet at each instant. The best beater bars were metal, and smooth. There was no way for them to damage a rug because the bristles were soft. The famous Hoover slogan It Beats as it Sweeps as it Cleans was an accurate description of the cleaner's functioning. These vacuum cleaners were designed to clean hand-knotted rugs. It is the only type of rug people had, except for lightweight rag rugs. Sadly, beater bars have fallen into disuse, primarily because people are no longer educated about vacuum cleaners, and purchase them on the basis of color, price, styling, and amps. If you can acquire an old Hoover, grab it. If you do nothing but clean your Asian rugs with it, it will be worth it. Kirby makes a soft bristle roller brush that is made for delicate carpets. If you have a Kirby and wish to use it on delicate rugs, you would do well to purchase a second rug nozzle (used) and keep the delicate roller brush installed in it to avoid switching the brush all the time.
- Q:Hello,This used to be one of my mothers all time favorites, and i cannot find them anywhere.I have never been to an arts and crafts store and i am not really sure where to look in the store for them. Do they still sell hook rugs? What about those round things where the fabric is clamped down around the circle thing, do you know what am speaking about? I'm sorry if am confusing you but i don'know what there called and neither does she. If anyone knows, please tell me. Thank you all. You are all very kind.
- Yep, cats simply love to mark a brand new possession. The rugs didn't have their homey odor on them. And so they knew it! Animals get used to the smell of things in their condo and a brand new object needs to be broken in. Silly cats. I'd put down one rug at a time and wait just a few. Maintain an eye on cats and new rug and deter them from it. They'll more commonly go to resmell the rug for his or her scent. She should use the historical fashioned word of scat and allow them to know to depart her rug alone. They're intelligent and understand what the deal is! If they are trying to play dumb have her move litter pan near the rug for a few days except they get the hint.
- Q:We are getting new carpet in our house. What is the best kind of carpet that is good quality and warrenty wise. And also what colors are the best too use for a BIG living area. Thanks
- A carpet of great quality that will last forever is a fat, heavy, patterned berber. Nearly everyone thinks it is hideous, your carpet installer will hate you, and it's not very soft. The best looking high wear carpet I have seen or installed is a frieze. It's also called California berber, California shag, or short shag. It has a tall, but loose pile and is very soft, especially if you put a heavy odo-ban pad underneath. I've noticed that salt and pepper or similar light/dark patterns look best in large areas. Also, frieze hides seams well, which is good if you have a large room.
- Q:Besides vacuuming, how do you maintain white carpeting? Personally I have found that using a storebought steamer makes my carpets look dingier. A person I knew at one time told me about a dry cleaning method using some kind of powder. She told me she rented the equipment and it only cost about thirty dollars. I've researched this and don't have any idea where to go. Links to more info. would be helpful.
- Kirby vacuum with shampooer kit, works miracles on my white carpet.
