Wilton carpet, like Axminster carpet, is woven. However the difference between the two methods is the way in which the carpet is woven. Whereas the Axminster yarn is woven into each weft and then cut to the required pile height and then reinserted when that colour is needed again –the Wilton carpet yarn is a continuous strand woven all the way through.

Q: I recently blacked out and fell onto the floor face first, causing some moderate rug burns. I'm wondering if I should be concerned about scarring, and if so what I should do to prevent it. I've been keeping a coat of neosporin on it constantly so far.
Regarding the rug burn, it does not look like a very deep wound from the picture. Most scrapes are shallow but painful because a large area of skin is missing. Shallow wounds do not usually scar. My brother went headfirst over the handlebars of his bike about 6 weeks ago and had some really nasty scrapes, some of which were moderately deep, and he didn't scar at all. Just keep it clean, wash it daily with soap and warm water. Keep using the neosporin as well. That will prevent infection and keep it moisturized; both of those things will help speed up healing, and the faster things heal the less likely they are to scar. Once it's all healed there will be some residual redness in the area for probably 3-7 days, but that isn't scarring and it should go away. Regarding you passing out, I would advise a doctor's visit. Getting light headed when standing is called orthostatic hypotension and it has a number of possible causes; some of them are fairly serious, such as a heart problem. Your orthostatic hypotension, plus now an unrelated episode of fainting indicates some sort of underlying problem. Better to go and get checked, just to be safe.
Q: where can I find free pattern to weave a rug on a rigid weaving loom?
Are you working on a rug now? As you know, a rigid heddle loom has limitations. You can only do plain weave, and for a rug, this is just fine. If you are using rag strips, that is even better. The patterning will come from the colour of the horizontal stripes you are weaving. You can change them at will, or according to a set pattern. The patterns are only limited to your imagination! I would make a small drawing on paper and then just use coloured pencils or crayons to make horizontal stripes. If you have patterned material to work with, you may not need to make much of a design because the wefts (the cross threads) will make a design of their own. How wide is your rigid heddle? Most are fairly narrow -- perhaps up to 22 wide. Your rug is going to be quite narrow. You may want to piece two of them together side by side, and that offers further possibilities for creating a pattern. Just go wild!! You can do anything you want.
Q: I thre some milk on my carpet and i cleaned it up, now it smells horrible!!! How can I stop this?!!
Can you pull the carpet up? If so, then rent a steam cleaner and clean just that spot-nothing else. Then pull the carpet back and cut out the wet part of the foam underlayment. Go to a carpet store and buy a small piece of foam and cut it to fit. Place carpet back over spot. Then- only drink milk in the kitchen.
Q: How do you handle the new carpet?
Wash: spray detergent 10 to 15 minutes after the stain from the fiber, and then wash it with a washing machine. Operate back, each operation ensures a portion overlap, at least two times after washing.
Q: i have 5 rugs and they are pretty grubby now, can i wash them in the washing machinegt;?
I have a sheepskin rug that I have washed, never thought about using Woolite however I am sure that works great :). Since it is a hair like fur I actually have used a little shampoo in the washer with it. It worked just fine, I was a bit nervous to put the rug in the dryer so i just let if hang for a while to air dry and also use a brush to bring the life back into the fur.
Q: For the record, I didn't want this rug...I told my husband anything that says quot;do not add waterquot; was a bad idea with young kids in the house....but here we are....So I know you're not supposed to use water on sisal (natural fiber/grass) rugs, but merely quot;blottingquot; as per the directions does not leave me with a clean, sanatized feeling. I generally use water and hydrogen peroxide to clean my carpets (I avoid chemical cleaners whenever I can), but how can I at least freshen up the area until enough time has passed that I'm not screaming quot;don't sit/crawl there!quot; Is baking soda an option?
My only suggestion - make your husband responsible for this problem immediately, and walk away. You did not want the rug for just this reason, and any move for you to take responsibility means you buy into the idea that this was an appropriate purchase. Stick to your guns, call him or text him and let him know his fabulous rug has experienced just the thing you knew would happen, and just drop it in his lap. The minute he brought it into the house, he took responsibility for whatever happened next- so don't do it for him. At all. This isn't just about the rug, of course- it's about power and who makes the decisions. If he wants to make them, it's up to him to do whatever it takes to follow through. Not your job, and it wasn't a joint decision made with your input. Call him, let him know he has a problem, and walk away. Not one paper towel- I'm not kidding. Or you will own the #$% rug and the blame for the spot your cleaning efforts make.
Q: I need to settle an argument with my husband on this one, does anyone know first hand if steam vacs ruin your carpet?
Hi Using a steam-cleaning machine on your carpet will not destroy your carpets. Now after saying this. Using too much water (drying times of over 24 hours) can damage your carpet. Using soap with a PH of 10 and up will damage your carpet. Using a lot of soap can damage your carpet. (Leaves a sticky residue) Carpet manufactures recommends that you clean your carpet every 18 months minimum. From a carpet cleaner of 14 years.
Q: My dog has now peed on the entire futon. If I rent a a rug doctor (from local grocery store) will it work on a futon? The futon is only about 4inches thick. I'm wondering if the rug doctor will be able to suck up the water it jets out, or if it will just make the futon wet?
Here are a few tips for futon cleaning—from your friends at Rug Doctor! The successful cleaning of the Futon depends on the filling within. If it is washable, you have a good chance of success. If subject to moisture damage, then do not attempt. Since the stain is over 3 days old, the urine will have gone from being highly acidic to very alkaline. This means the original dye could be affected and could be permanently damaged. Only cleaning will determine if the dye is OK or not. Further, the urine may have gone from being liquid to a sticky goo by now, and is likely a reddish orange. Treatment: 1. Fill the solution tank with a solution of 8 oz. of Rug Doctor Odor remover and 2 gallons of lukewarm water. 2. Connect the upholstery attachment to the Rug Doctor machine and switch on the upholstery setup. 3. Liberally spray the affected area with the solution, by squeezing the trigger on the UPH tool, holding the tool a few inches away from the stain. 4. When soaked, extract by pressing the recovery nozzle of the UPH attachment over the soaked area. This action will help extract the dissolved urine, while distributing the Odor Remover product within the Futon. 5. You may have to repeat 3 4 a few times till you notice the futon is visibly cleaner. Continue your last extraction until no droplets of water are visible through the UPH tool window. 6. Spray the surface with Urine Eliminator. This will help minimize stains. 7. Place clean white paper towels on the surface to absorb any wick up stains. Turn on a fan or circulate air. 8. Change paper towel if it gets too wet. 9. Examine upon drying. Chances are you have done a good job and the surface is clean! If stain remains repeat step 6-8. Q: in my room i have a large blue shaggy rug, the shaggy bits are about 2-3cm long.I have a quot;vax matchquot; carpet cleaning machine and carpet shampoo, will it work?or wil the shaggy bits get caught up and break the machine?
yea you have to be carful with the shaggy rugs. i get my carpets professionally cleaned every few months. i have a shaggy rug too . i would suggest having a professional carpet cleaner.
Q: I thought my rug would smell better after a whole day in the sun on my patio but it rained and it got wet I dried it again in the sun and now it stinks!I have brown stains on the BACK of the rug.I cant throw away the rug..it's beautiful.I can hire prof cleaners dont have steam/carpet shampooer. If you suggest home remedies, pls specify exact proportions.I guess I'll have to wash it with mild soap water in my tub let it dry in the patio again?
listerine is going to ruin your rug. You can rent a carpet shampooing machine- but dont use the cleaner that comes with it- its worthless. Use 1/2 ammonia per 1 gallon of HOT water, and use the machine. dont be afraid of the smell, it comes out when it dires. This is how I clean my carpets.
