- Q: My roommate spilled fruit punch on our carpet a month ago. Any idea how to get it out?
- I agree, that it may be too late, but the best thing I have found to take out nasty spots on my berber carpet is Folex. It's almost a miracle in a spray bottle. It's kind of pricy, but well worth it. If you can find it, get it. Good luck. PS-I would have your roomie pay for it :-)
- Q: I recently moved and purchased the sofas in the picture and I want to find the same rug or a similar rug to the one in the picture. Thank you so much in advance.
- Happy hunting and I hope that you find what you are looking for to make your room perfect!
- Q: so i accidentally got some nailpolish on my carpet any ideas for how to get it out?
- It is simply amazing how often nail polish makes it onto carpet, or furniture, instead of nails, lol I'm afraid the attitude towards nail polish is entirely too lax... here is why... Carpets these days are made of synthetic fibers.... and when you try to use nail polish remover to remove nail polish, it WILL DAMAGE THE CARPET FIBERS. This results in fibers melting (chemically) or being permanently stained! Nail polish removers often contain Acetone. Acetone is a very harsh and effective chemical stripper -- it will not only damage carpet fibers, but it will also damage vinyl tile, and wood finishes of all sorts. I'm afraid your best bet at this point, is to try to scrape the nail polish out, or have that section of carpet removed, and replaced. A good carpet tech can patch the section for you, but it may still be a noticable patch. Unless you want to make a habit of cutting holes in your carpet, I'd advise a little more care when handling the nail polish, heheheh ;) Good Luck
- Q: What color of the carpet looks good with gray fabric sofa?
- just to separate from the color of the carpet, if the room is too much gray, the carpet should be in a light color, the key to your own preferences, choose by yourself is better on the basis of not against the color aesthetics . Also it should be light color After all, it is home, not office. Do not recommend specific color, a dignified sense. The gray curtain is not good, the designer only gives you the suggestion to combine the existing color and the decoration style in your room
- Q: My parents bought our house two years ago. It was remodeled by the previous owners, and they cut a lot of corners just to sell the house faster. We were unaware of this when we bought it, and we soon found a bunch of mistakes. We have berber carpet in beige. I absolutely hate this carpet and so do my parents. We have three dogs and they track in mud sometimes. It is hard to clean. Plus, my dogs seem to think they can dig through our floors, so they unravelled the berber carpet outside my bedroom door. What is the best carpet for us? Something that cleans well, but is tough enough to last years? What colors do you recommend also? Thank you.
- Carpet is such a taste thing. I like level loop carpet (like most commercial carpet.) In fact, I like commercial carpet period, as long as it is made of nylon. IN your case, if you use commericial carpeting, make sure it is continuous backing that is water proof. Nylon will not stain, is very easy to clean with a steam extractor (buy one and keep it handy if you have doggies). The most important part is the water proof continuous backing...water cannot penetrate the backing and therefore, will not drag up dirt into the top when the carpet dries! Commercial carpeting is all moving towards squares that, when laid, look like a continuous carpet..the glue used makes it easy to remove and replace a square should it become badly damaged...no problems with the entire carpet! BUT it is expensive (and well worth the money)...figure about 30.00 a yard installed. No padding is used. Furniture does NOT have to be removed from the room. And it will last probably a lifetime under your wear/tear conditions. Install once and be done with it...therefore, choose a neutral tweed...biege with brown, black, gray, copper flecks will go with everything, anything in the future. Good luck, Goldwing
- Q: I live on the 2nd floor of an apartment building. While attempting to do laundry earlier today, I didn't notice that my washer never shut off.. So it kept filling until I noticed my dining room/kitchen room were flooded. I immediately shut the water off. The neighbors below came to my door stating that the water had leaked into their apartment. The question im having is quot;Is it necessary to have the carpet replaced?quot; I have a two year old, and after doing some research I learned that mold could build up, which is something I dont want. Also when the maintenance people came they tracked my carpet with mud and who knows what else when trying to fix my washer. My apartment wont just give me new carpet so Im trying to get some advice in whether or not I should fight for new carpet.
- Hot water carpet cleaners have the ability to suck the water from the carpet and the pad, using a tool called a water claw. Often times the carpet pad is removed and air movers placed under and on top of the damp carpet to hasten the drying procedure. A commercial dehumidifier is also used to pull moisture from the air.
- Q: I am going to rent a rug doctor to clean the carpet in my apartment. The only stains are from my puppy, and I am not sure what kind of cleaner to use with it. should I use the regular cleaner or am I going to need a heavy duty/pet specific cleaner? I have shampooed before, but not since I got my puppy.
- The rug doctor will not remove the stains, but if you use an enzyme cleaner on the spots first, any rug machine will, with any shampoo. Cross your fingers there's no smell. That's another problem.
- Q: Does it need to uncover the carpet of car room and dry and coat oil for components after the car submerged
- It is strongly recommended to do a comprehensive inspection and cleaning in 4S shop, or if they rust or mildew, it would be bad.
- Q: The other day I just found out that I had a hand-made rug that was made in Iran and bought by my grandparents about 10-15 years ago, the rug is about 6x8 and they paid around $2000 dollars for it.My question is what is the proper way to clean a rug that is hand-made? It has not been cleaned in years only vacuumed... and also is there a market place for these rugs? if I do decide I want to sell it.
- The best way to clean an oriental rug is either to wash it yourself with bicarbionate of soda and vinegar, or farm it out to be washed by a company that specializes in oriental rugs. NEVER use detergent or a chemical cleaner, or dry clean, an oriental rug. All these substances will destroy the protective lanolin in the rug. A 6x8 would be really easy to do yourself. First, vacuum it face-down to loosen the deepest dirt, then right side up. You can either lay the rug on flat, clean concrete (not tarmac), or hang it over a couple of ladders or a fence. Then, rub bicarb all over it, then saturate with vinegar; it will foam up and push out the dirt. Rinse well. The advantage of doing it on a flat surface is you can squeegee it, then hang it. If over ladders, it may take a few days to dry.
- Q: I own a cell phone store and my carpets are a mess. I'm trying to save money because stanley steemer wants around $200. I thought about renting the rug doctor for $20 from the local grocery store. Would it work well for commerical grade thin grey carpet that has some dirt, road salt, and grease in it from the several customers that walk on it every day?
- Rug Doctor carpet cleaners are really low end. Your best bet is to pay a professional company to come in a few times a year to clean the carpets properly. Once the carpets are clean, consider a weekly linen service. Lots of companys will come around on a weekly basis and lay out/exchange long carpet runners. It's a small investment to keep your store looking clean and polished.
