Wilton carpet, like Axminster carpet, is woven. However the difference between the two methods is the way in which the carpet is woven. - Q:what is the best carpet cleaner for ditry cat hair filled carpets?
- Rent an industrial type cleaner from home depot. Its super cheap for a 4 hour rental. The ones you buy in store break easily and do not get down to the carpet pad.
- Q:What type of rugs do you need for a horse? And when and why do you use them? Thanks
- Your horse does not need rugs. Nature outfitted him with a very good winter coat. You blanket to keep the animal from growing a heavy coat (It never worked for me that I could see) You blanket because the animal is clipped You blanket because the animal is wet from a work out and you are cooling him in cold weather. You blanket because the animal is shivering. Once you start blanketing you must do so for the entire winter. After the first winter I opted to just ride more carefully and not cause my horse to sweat. I still cantered and jumped but I kept it short and with a lot of walk to keep the horse cool.
- Q:Difference in rugs and carpets?
- A rug is something you lay down on a floor and is easy to change where as carpet covers the whole surface area and is more permanent. As for the texture or substance of the material there isn't much difference :)
- Q:This old rug has been stored in a musty damp place. It's beautiful, and I want to try to clean it and keep it. When I started to vacuum it, I found the backing in places was turning to sand and the threads connected to it were separating. The suction was too much. So, before I can clean it, I need to treat the back somehow in order to keep the rug intact. Does anyone know how I can do that? Taking it to someone who can restore it is out of the question.
- Then it's not a real oriental rug. A true oriental carpet will be something that could be turned over and the weave would be visible on the back side; it is not held together by a rubber backing. If your carpet had rubberized backing on it, this means it was a commercial carpet with an oriental design. Those backings are not meant to last forever, and they simply deteriorate with exposure to air and the elements. There is nothing you can do to restore it, to my knowledge. The rubberized backing has broken down, and that's irreversible - part and parcel of the product that you purchased. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Just this summer I had to toss two such carpets at church. One of them had backing that was dry and powdery; the other, much cheaper, had to be peeled off the hallway, and we had to spray with orange oil and go at the backing with a putty knife to remove the backing from the floor...a messy and nasty job. Be glad you never put that on the floor. You'd be cussing if you had to remove it.

- Q:What causes carpet around the edges to turn grey in a stairwell?
- The technical term, as used by the carpet cleaning industry, is Filter Dirt. This term refers to soil/dust that has passed through the furnace duct work, and the furnace air filter, and has now attached it self to the carpet fibers. When this dust is circulating through the house, from the cold air return to the heat/air ducts, it picks up an electric charge which makes it difficult to remove from the carpet fibers. When it shows up on the edge of each step, it is thought that the dirt/soil is coming up from the under side of the steps, through the small crack in the wood base holding up the steps. Some people plagued with this problem, have replaced the carpet ,and prior to this, caulked the seams between the steps and the wall. You need to look at getting your air ducts professionally cleaned. They should be cleaned every 5 years, anyway. also, you may need to consider replacing your furnace air filter with a paper pleated style. Do not purchase the 3 for a dollar fiberglass style. The cheap filters have the ability to only trap golf balls and pop cans. They allow most soil and dirt to pass right on through the system. Change your furnace air filter every 4 months religiously. Use a black marker to write on the duct work near the furnace of your change out dates. This gives you a written filter change out record in an appropriate location. The carpet cleaning industry does have a solvent based product to help clean the filtration soil from the carpet. One is called Filter Out. from Pro's Choice. Sometimes the stains are permanent, as the soil while traveling between the air ducts is picking up cooking oils from the kitchen, making for a difficult oil/dust, electrically charged stain to remove. These stains are also found around furniture setting right on the floor, and under doors that remain closed. Hope I've given you some guidance to help deal with future filtration soil problems in your home. (3M makes the best paper pleated air funace filters)
- Q:has any one had them out to clean your carpet and if so is it worth the money? give me some stories good or bad about them
- Used them many times and they are very reasonably priced. If you aren't moving your furniture (which we didn't) make sure they put everything up on blocks so as not to stain the carpets until they dry. It's a normal procedure for them but they can mess up and your wood or fabric that touches the wet carpet will stain it. When they are done your carpets should only be damp and not wet to the touch. If they are wet don't let them leave until the carpets are only damp. Stanley Steemer is a franchise operation so not all franchises are great. I use them for a whole house cleaning but use my own steam cleaner much more often. I have saved a lot of money by owning my own steam cleaning machine which is a Bissell. I can keep up on carpet cleaning routinely as opposed to waiting until the carpets are in dire need. I would recommend after you use Stanley to buy your own cleaner.
- Q:What's the purpose of these rugs:Outdoor rugStable rug Thanks x
- Out door rug - they're water proof so stop a horse getting wet should it rain, and they're warm so gives a horse some protection from the elements. Can also help stop your horse getting so muddy. stable rug - They can help keep a horse warm if it's cold. Also good if a horse is going to a show the next day, helps prevent them getting stains from the majority of their body to minimise any potential work the next day.
- Q:If I removed the rug the color will age and change darker but will the floor where the rug was blend with the outer Perimeter?
- The wood will darken when it is exposed to light. In time it will blend in with the rest of the floor.
- Q:A large jar type candle fell over and a large amount of melted candel wax pouring all over the carpet, and it has hardened.
- Place paper towel over the wax that needs to be removed, then, run a medium-heated iron over the wax and it will be picked up by the paper towel. You'll need to do this quite a few times to get all of it up, but after you do, it'll look good as new :)
