Wilton carpet, like Axminster carpet, is woven. However the difference between the two methods is the way in which the carpet is woven. Whereas the Axminster yarn is woven into each weft and then cut to the required pile height and then reinserted when that colour is needed again –the Wilton carpet yarn is a continuous strand woven all the way through.

- I have never met a rug that could not be washed in the washer (except wool rugs). Cold water, regular laundry detergent, just like the Target site suggests. However...here's the clincher. To machine dry or air dry? That is the question. If you allow a rug to air dry, sometimes it looks matted afterward. With shag, this is less likely to happen. It happens more frequently with plush rugs. On the other hand, if you machine dry, the rug looks beautifully fluffy, but the backing comes off in a million little pieces. For your rug? I would machine wash it in cold, and then let it air dry. I think you'll be happy with the result. If not, try tossing it in the dryer on fluff or No Heat. Good luck. -

- You are never going to get cat urine smell out of the carpet, your olfactory senses are just going to become accustomed to the smell and mask it themselves. Then when you have company or guests they will smell it. That carpet needs to be ripped up and the floor checked for saturation as well. The landlord IS responsible for that, and should have gotten a cleaning/security deposit from the last renter which He/She probably did, and wants to pocket the money, or tried a quick cheep carpet cleaning method which is a joke anyway, but that's a whole new subject/posting. I'm not sure what your relationship is with the landlord, but I told you what needs to be done, and maybe there is hardwood flooring under the carpet that can be restored or even just rip up the carpet and the HW floors might be in good enough shape to just clean up. ANYTHING will be better than that cat urine smell and nasty unsanitary environment for anyone to be around. I sure hope you dont have children especially ones that crawl still, THAT IS JUST NASTY. Either way, the landlord IS responsible and you have rights so If said landlord is refusing to step up and take their responsibility seriously, then take the slumlord to court and do a little research to find out the list of infractions they are committing , there's quite a few last time I inquired. Good luck, and remember, any cleaning will only mask cat urine, some more than the next, but will never completely remove the secretions.

- The best rug for cooling down is a cooler obviously. There are different versions of these some are like a mesh whilst others are more like a waterproof sheet with technology that makes them wick away sweat and water. I don't know which of these styles is better but they both do the same job. A fleece rug is usually used for a horse in a stable as it is quite warm but not waterproof. An exercise sheet is good for using when warming up a clipped horse as it keeps the quarters warm whilst allowing the shoulders to move freely. They should really only be used for hacking or slow work as they can cause the horse to overheat and sweat. When doing cross country it is a good idea to use tendon boots but spend time finding ones that fit well. Speak to someone at a local tack shop as they are usually very helpful with finding products that will best fit your horse. Something I was taught with boots that might be of interest is to buy full tendon boots and open front tendon boots. The open ones can be used when warming up for showjumping competitions as if the horse hits the poles, she'll feel it and will make an effort to jump higher next time.
