- Q: throw rug: backing dried up and crumbled; any way to rehab the rug?
- I've got a rug right now that the same thing has happened to. I had it in our yard storage building over two summers, and went to get it out to bring it back into use and the backing has crumbled. If I am thinking of the same thing, what you mean by backing is that rubbery, or gluey stuff they treat the back of the rug with to keep the pile from shifting.. I haven't done this yet, and it's going to be a bit of a chore, but I'm going to a fabric store to look for some kind of fairly heavy fabric, kind of like they actually use on those better quality rugs. It's attached only round the edges of the rug, but it would sure cover up the yukky look of the dried, crumbled sealant on the back. You'd need a heavy duty upholstery type needle to do it with, and then just turn the edges of the fabric under, and hand-stitch it to the back of the rug.
- Q: How to deal with bedroom carpet near the door
- When indoor decoration is completed, make a mark, which considers from a beautiful and practical point of view, by the way. Fifth, the device is qualified acceptance, it only makes home full carpet: even if you don't use carpet, you still need to do. Fourth, if the floor heating paves along corner, you should pay attention to: According to the personal economic situation, the waterproof should do well: The door bottom should reserve the height of the thickness of carpet plus 1cm from the ground (or the door will not open), seventh water pipes, now at home, try to buy high-quality carpet: The door of carpet and hard material junction do not to use loose sand, wood finishing have done mirror processing: Cement floor has done self-leveling or mirror processing, there is no certain height of the people; there is no furniture and sundries debris piled up indoor(convenient for construction) second: The bottom of skirting line should reserve height that the thickness-1cm from the ground
- Q: I have several large area rugs (not wool) and they have large wrinkles and creases that I need to get out, I just dont want to wait till they are quot;walkedquot; out, anyone know how too, I have misted them a bit w/ water but some are still there.
- Sounds wierd yet I rather have continuously grew to become my eating room table the different way up on my rugs and enable it set an afternoon or 2 whilst they have a extensive wrinkle and it has worked everytime. could be an much less complicated way yet it extremely is unfastened and works for super wrinkles. I additionally could point out that i don't have a great table, its in elementary terms a cheapy so I dont techniques turning it the different way up....does no longer propose this with a appropriate table. something heavy and flat could paintings.
- Q: i spilled tea all over my beige carpet and non of the carpet cleaners are getting it out :( help!
- use a good carpet spray , and use the small head on the vacuum cleaner by going backward and forwards with firm hard strikes
- Q: Carpeting a 1400 sq. ft. office. Price is an issue. I would like to lay them directly on plywood floor (no 1/4quot; underlyment). Will plywood seams show through? Should I even consider laying them without gluing down? Any experience good/bad? And suggested source? I see them on internet for $.66 sq foot for excess inventory. Thanks!
- you can lay carpet tile onto plywood and yes you should definitely glue them down. without glue the tiles will be all over the place. here is a tip. when you lay the tiles down rotate every other tile 1/4 turn so that it makes like a checkerboard pattern. you will have a much better cover and it will hide any imperfections in the carpet tiles.
- Q: My carpet is threadbare and needs replacing. The kids are almost grown and pets live outside. Should I get a timber floor or go with carpet again. Which is easier to keep clean? I know that carpet is dirty but it also hides a lot. If you have a timber floor and then get rugs, aren't you getting the vaccuum out anyway? What do you think?
- Wood floor homes are noisier. Wood is easier to pick up tracked in dirt......you keep a dust mop handy and wet mop as necessary.......but with the dust mop the wet mopping is less. If you get throw or area rugs, yes, you have to vacuum and still maintain the wood (plus I have to watch out for the fring on the rugs..LOL ) Carpets look fine if you don't get something that shows dirt every other day. Still you do need to vacuum often and have it cleaned regularly. If you are selling, wood floors garner a higher return.......until they go out of fashion again....if they do. You mentioned the kids are almost gone......babies might return....so there you have grandchildren's tricycles, etc. Then your own health........as we get older we may need walking assistence and wheelchairs and walkers roll better on wood or very short pile carpeting. Throw rugs are not for people with walking problems........we trip over them, LOL!
- Q: My roommate and I were cleaning carpets in our 1st floor apartment yesterday with a carpet spray called RESOLVE. We bought it at Target and tied it on the carpets but it didn't work well. Then my roommate tried to clean the carpet by water. He dumped the bucket of water and tried to dry it with a sponge. Obviously, it didn't work and the carpet is still wet. We were going to call a cleaning company but we are still trying to figure out how to dry them by ourselves. How bad is that if we just leave it and wait until the carpets dry? It's not flooded but it feels wet. I appreciate it if someone could help me.
- Open the windows and run fans on the carpet so it will dry and not have a moldy smell. If you want to clean the carpet rent a steam cleaner.
- Q: Say my carpet is white and I would like to make it.... red. Can it be done? Does anyone know where I can find such a product.I called the Home Depot and some rude black chick said I should clean it. After I told her the carpet is not in need of cleaning, but maybe a change in color, I reminded her that we put someone on the moon, and built a bunch of pyramids, she still had nothing for me.If not products, ideas? Home remedies?I would appreciate it.
- It CAN be done, yes. However, I don't think this is a DIY project. There are companies that can do this. I have no idea what's involved or what it will cost, though. From white to red is a big change ... and keep in mind that red, whether on hair or walls or fabric, is THE hardest color to achieve, the most likely to fade, and the least likely to turn out the way you intended! (How do you feel about pink carpet?) I honestly don't know how you'd find a company that would specialize in carpet-dyeing ... perhaps call a store in your area that sells and installs carpet, and ask who they recommend for color services.
- Q: I don't think it would be a good idea to have one in a dorm (harder to clean, etc.) so what should I tell my roommate? She won't give up on trying to convince me.
- If your only reason for not wanting the rug is that it would be more difficult to clean, then agree to get a shag rug only on the conditions : 1. she purchases the rug (which will then obviously be hers to keep once you two stop living together); 2. she cleans the rug; AND 3. she doesn't get bent out of shape if you think the rug needs cleaning and you then ask her to do so. If she is trying THAT hard to get you to okay having a shag rug, then I'd let her do it, as long as she knows that it is her responsibility to clean it, AND that cleaning is subject to both of your subjective opinions on cleanliness.
- Q: suppose the diagram below shows the floor plan of a room measuring 10 feet by 10 feet. there are two carperts in this room. The green carpet is 2 feet wide by 4 feet high and therefore has an area ______.The blue carpet is 2 feet wide by 4 feet high. its area is _______ the area of the green carpet
- The green carpet is 2 feet wide by 4 feet high and therefore has an area equal to 8 square feet. The blue carpet is 2 feet wide by 4 feet high. Its area is equal to the area of the green carpet
