- Q: Hi there,I know that a lot of bagless vacuums are sold as quot;Cyclonicquot;, but I remember hearing somewhere that only Dysons actually remove all the dirt from the air by cyclonic action, whilst the rest also rely on filters. Is it true that other companies can not (due to patents, etc.) make vacuum cleaners that work in exactly the same way as a dyson, or is it just an urban myth created by clever marketing on the part of dyson?If anyone (in the UK) has a vacuum they think is comparable to a dyson, I'd love to hear about it, cheers.
- I have the Eureka Boss SmartVac and I love it! It does a great job. I have kids, pets, and a husband who works construction, and it gets up all their dirt/dust/hair/etc... The suction is great and it has a switch to turn the beater bar off so you can use it on any hard floor surface. It's not bagless, but I had a bagless before, and I would never have another one again. It's very reasonably priced and I can't see how a Dyson could outclean it. Hope this helps. Good luck!

- hoover by far the best never had one problem with mine still has the same powerful suction it had when I bought it (2 yr ago) when the filter gets dirty you just bang it on your outside wall put it back in your hoover

- Most places do have a return policy so could return it if you were unhappy. Could also make a request to the owner to put one together. If it has mostly this type of item on sale I am sure they will be happy to do this to make the sale. I think you will find that most vacuums do make close to the same amount of sound. That is what I have found. I worry more about the power it has to pick stuff up.
- Q: how is bagless an improvement over the old fashioned vacuum cleaners with bags? I hate having to deal with the filth that comes out of the bagless machines. What was wrong with the bags? Am I missing something here?
- I've had both types and will never go back to bags! I have an older Bissell I use upstairs that takes bags and I'm saving money to get rid of the silly thing. My reasons: 1. Bag less have much more suction. Most of us empty them after every use because you can see the dirt/pet hair and such or at least right before we use them so you're always getting maximum performance and suction. 2. Cost and availability of the bags. 3. One would go broke if you changed bags every time you used the sweeper! And after about the first 5 minutes of a fresh bag, the filter paper is partially clogged and there goes your suction down the tubes. 4. Because we empty them more, stinky sweepers are much less likely. How I empty mine to minimize the dust issue is to place is all but in the bottom of a 13 gallon trash can I keep on the enclosed back porch just for that purpose. It was an extra I had hanging around. I keep a trash bag in it also. I pop the latch and the high sides on the trash can keep a large part of the debris right in there. And filtering technology has changed a lot and gotten a lot better over the old bag vacuums. Several manufacturers are doing the cyclonic thing now. Dyson, of course, but Bissell has their version for 1/2 the price. This action spins more of the dirt out of the air stream moving through the machine, deposits it in the collection cup and your suction stays much more powerful. Nope, ain't going back to that hassle or additional cost all the time.

- With allergies, buy any one in your price range as long as it has a hepa filter. They filter finer particles than a regular filtered vac. For a reasonably priced name for a starter vac, check the Dirt Devil brands
