- Q: If One doesn't care about phase-frequency or voltage and need a high speed generator can current be fed to the rotor so that these motors can be used as a generator?One more question:What voltage is needed for the rotor? Say for example the120 volts single phase motor's normal running speed is 10,000, what voltage needs to be fed to the rotor so that if one is turning the motor at this speed it would generate around 120 Volts. I know there is a lot of problem with this set up but since its being converted to DC and used in a hydrogen production system, Voltage or frequency isn't a big issue.
- Plug-in drills and vacuum cleaners have usually been universal motors, essentially the same thing as series connected DC motors. I don't believe they can be used as generators without changing the internal connections. The Dyson vacuums apparently use permanent magnet motors as do battery powered drills. Those motors would probably make good generators, but you would need to eliminate the electronic control and connect directly to the motor coils. Any motor that can be used as a generator would generate the rated voltage at the rated speed for which it was designed as a motor.
- Q: Which Vacuum is better...bagless or canister. And I mean cleaning wise. And with Canister, do you have to buy bags? Or with either, do you need to buy anything other than the vacuum EVER?
- I had both, my vacuum with bags would always get plugged, and when the bag got full, when I pulled it out I always got a cloud of dust as I pulled the bag off. I like my bag-less, because when full, pull out the canister with on button, then another button at the bottom of canister to release the dust door right into the trash, very covenant. Bags I was aways buying them, if that store does not have them I always had to find a store that did carry my type bags. Some canister vacuums have filters that have to be replaced. Mine has a filter that all I have to do is clean once a month let it dry and put it back in.

Well she finally bought one, but she only bought it because it was ON SALE. I don't know much about hand vacuum cleaners, except this one SUCKS.It's by Sunbeam and it's called quot;Star Elite.It doesn't have a lot of power, only has a small opening to collect dirt etc (1quot;x 1cm) and is horrible at picking up stray pieces of hair. It only also works for 15 minutes and then it has to be charged for 15 hours.The main problem out of all that I have is the lack of power and horribly ability to pick up stray hair off the ground.Does anyone know a hand vacuum cleaner that is certainly better than this?

- A kirby? I've never even heard of that. Well, if you want a great vacuum cleaner, you gotta go with a Dyson, the only catch being those things are OUTREGEOUS! I think the cheapest one is about $500. Other than that, I've got a Bissell right now that works fantastically. And it was only about $60 at Wal-Mart. It's one of those bagless vacuums, with the filters. You don't have to replace any of the filters either, they're all washable in the sink. So, pretty cheap and convenient.

- Royal (they look old fashioned) but are very quality. You need to look online, they are not sold at places like Target or Home Depot. Similar in quality is Oreck, they are also not sold in typical stores. Both start at around $200 or $250.
