Q:Who invented the earliest vacuum cleaners?
In 1901, British civil engineer booth went to the imperial Concert Hall in Leicester square, London, to show a demonstration of a car dust collector in the United states. The vacuum cleaner uses compressed air to blow dust into the container, which Buss thought was not good because many dust failed to blow into the container.
Q:I have been looking for homes to buy and I have never heard of this before. I am geussing that it is a vacuum that is centrally located in the house...not sure. Is that just stupid? Anyways, would really like to know. Thanks
I have a central vacuum and love it. It is a single built-in unit usually housed in the garage or basement. With 3-5 times more cleaning power than most portable vacuum cleaners you get a superior clean in less time. Since the central vacuum is located in the garage or basement it can have bigger heavier motors. This power will give a deep down clean and pick up that thread you usually have to go over three times to pick up. The standard model recommended has an airflow of 185 cfm (cubic feet per minute), compared with 60 to 90 cfm from a portable. Just connect the lightweight hose to any conveniently located inlet installed around the house. No heavy unit to pull, push or drag up stairs, no switches, and no electrical cords to keep tripping over.
Q:the sound comes on, but it doesn't suck anything up and the thingy underneath (dont know the technical term) doesn't turn. it's an old vacuum( a kerby). what's wrong with it. should i try to get this one fixed or just buy a new one. are there places that fix vacuum cleaners? thanks for any info.
try cleaning the brushes under neath it. sometimes hairs and strings get wrapped around them. Check ur bag? u may have clogged suction hose. check yellow pages u might find a repair shop.
Q:Hi there,I know that a lot of bagless vacuums are sold as quot;Cyclonicquot;, but I remember hearing somewhere that only Dysons actually remove all the dirt from the air by cyclonic action, whilst the rest also rely on filters. Is it true that other companies can not (due to patents, etc.) make vacuum cleaners that work in exactly the same way as a dyson, or is it just an urban myth created by clever marketing on the part of dyson? If anyone (in the UK) has a vacuum they think is comparable to a dyson, I'd love to hear about it, cheers.
I have the Eureka Boss SmartVac and I love it! It does a great job. I have kids, pets, and a husband who works construction, and it gets up all their dirt/dust/hair/etc... The suction is great and it has a switch to turn the beater bar off so you can use it on any hard floor surface. It's not bagless, but I had a bagless before, and I would never have another one again. It's very reasonably priced and I can't see how a Dyson could outclean it. Hope this helps. Good luck!
Q:For wall to wall carpets. Thanks.
I have a Bissell bagless. I got it from Walmart for under $100. It's a good vacuum, and I have pet fur around the house. The Bissell bagless doesn't blink an eye at my cat fur. I am thinking about purchasing a dirt devil to assist me with the stairs. The stairs drive me nuts.
Q:I have one of those Roomba sweeper robots which I really like since it saves time, but my mom doesn't seem to like it for some reason that I don't know. Does anyone here have one, and how do you think it does?
I'm pretty sure it would explode if it saw my floors.
Q:What do you think about dyson product?
IMHO, Dysons are the best available vacuum cleaners ever made available to the American market. The company seems bent on implementing new innovations on every new model they release, where as lame duck companies like Dirt Devil and Hoover continue to release the same old crap over and over. Besides, what other vacuum cleaners next to the Dyson's at your local store offer a 5-year warranty? That's right, Dyson is the only big box department store brand to offer a 5-year warranty, where as Hoover only offers 2 years at the most. If you are interested in getting a Dyson, might I interest you in the new DC17 model? Their new filtration system is more efficient at filtering sand and dust out of the airstream compared to the previous designs, and it uses an extremely aggressive brushroll that will not get hair wrapped around it, and will get deep down sand out of your carpet knap.
Q:Do Roomba robot vacuum cleaners actually vacuum, or are they just sweepers?
It okorder /... We have one, and it is much more effective - particularly on carpet - than a sweeper. It has a bit of trouble moving around on deep, loose shag carpet, but it's great on hard floors, rugs and other carpet types. HBJ
Q:i heard that the motor filter are recommanded to change cos they clog up dust easily n cant wash with water. is there any other cons of dyson machines that you plp can help to list?
I have had it 5 yrs and encountered no problems.
Q:Hey people, please help me if you know anything about vacuum cleaners....I put a new bag in it, but it has no suction and its not spinning when I turn it over, could it be the belt or what?!?!
