- A Kirby vacuum cleaner is no different than any other machine. There is a belt to wear out, a beater brush to wear out, a bag to empty and scores of other plastic, metal or other things to break. - not that i know of . and it would be better to get one with a hepa filterthey trap more dirt than regular filters and that means less allergys and irritants in the air for you.

The best way to use a quiet vac is to go with a central, and have the canister mounted in the basement or garage. All you hear is the motor in the power head if you are vacuuming carpet, or the air moving if you are vacuum hard surfaces. Hope this helps.

- no a vacuum picks up most of the dirt and a steamer cleans stuff that is ground in you can use a steam cleaner without vacuuming first but it will clog up you machine very quickly and it is expensive to have fixed so i dont recommend it
