FAQ

Is it best to go for a more powerful vacuum cleaner?

The power of a vacuum cleaner’s motor is measured in Watts. The higher the Wattage the better it will clean, as long as the machine is well designed with good air flow and suction power too. However, the higher the wattage, the noisier the machine will be. With upright vacuum cleaners. you don’t need to have so much wattage or suction power as you do with a cylinder cleaner as the dirt has less distance to travel before it reaches the bag or dust container. The type of brushes are more of an important consideration with uprights than the power. You don’t always want to have a vacuum cleaner operating at full power for example, when cleaning upholstery or curtains, so it’s useful to be able to adjust the power level yourself.

Which attachments should I look out for?

Most vacuum cleaners come with three attachments, a crevice tool, upholstery and dusting brushes and a small head which is best for vacuuming stairs. You can also get additional turbo brushes which have their own motor for extra suction which are useful for cleaning deep-pile carpets or a power cleaning head which has electrically powered rotating brushes. A hard-floor or parquet brush is useful for wooden or tiled floors. Some cleaners have extendable tubes which are useful for hard to reach areas like cobwebs in the corners of ceilings.

I have a large house? What should I look out for?

Look for a cleaner with a large cleaning head – this will help cut down the amount of time it takes to vacuum a room. Also get as long a lead as you can get to cut down on the number of times you have to unplug the lead and plug it in again. You may also want to consider getting a model with a large capacity dust collector or bag so that you don’t have to empty it as frequently. If you have a lot of stairs, you may want to get a cylinder model with a long stretchy stair-cleaning hose.

Q: I hate vacuum cleaners and my dad vacuums all of the time. Does anybody know of a silent vacuum cleaner?
a broom
Q: whats the difference between vacuum cleaners in 1901 and vacuum now?
Back then some of them ran on gasoline. Click below and you can get the full history of the vacuum cleaner.
Q: I just got a dyson ball vacuum. What happens if it runs over a nail or something metal, will it screw it up? Or can it handle it just fine?
Hi okorder and click 'Support'. If you'd prefer to speak to someone in person
Q: Because it seems to be clogging and breaking all my vacuum cleaners =/
There is a sponge that you can buy at almost any pet store...u rub it on the carpet or couch and the hair sticks to the sponge (using static) then u just grab the hair on the sponge throw in the garbage and use again
Q: My place only has one carpeted room, so it actually has very little to vaccum. I currently own a hand-me-down vacuum cleaner, but it's bulky so I end up not using because of convenience. Is there a cheap vacuum cleaner out there that could work for me, one that might even be good for hardwood floors?

Q: I have a bag-less dyson vacuum cleaner, and it does a great job vacuuming. Thing is it's getting really dirty. I have asthma, so I really don't want to clean it myself, since there's all manner of dust and what not in it's hoses and other pieces. I empty it's quot;bagwhen I use it and I wash the filters from time to time, but that doesn't keep it from getting really dirty in other places. Are there businesses that clean vacuum cleaners? If so, where can I find them?
The best thing for a vacuum cleaner is an air compressor! Take it outside , remove the bag and give it a good ******** with an air compressor. Wear a dust mask while you blow it. It will last longer and do a much better job. Don't wait until the bag gets filled all the way. As soon as you notice odors while vacuuming or notice reduced suction, change or empty the bag. If it is a bagless vacuum, remove the filter and gently blow it off before it gets too clogged. If your vacuum is dirty, something is amiss. It's designed to collect the dirt, not redistribute it around the room. If it uses a paper throw a way bag, remember that the bag traps the dirt dust and air must blow through the bag. The bag may not be full, but may clog with fine dust or powder, change it frequently. The more clogged the bag is the harder the motor has to work and the harder it works the less life span it will have. Remember when you vacuum, go slow, give the vacuum time to suck the dirt up.If you go too fast, the vacuum brings the dirt up to the top of the carpet and leaves it there. If you go slow and are thorough, you will notice that eventually your bags will last longer and your house will be cleaner.
Q: Are there any products that work well, e.g. cleaners, mops, wet/dry vacuum-mops?
I was wondering the answere to the same question not too long ago. I too have laminante flooring and I asked the installers what to clean it with? They reccomended good old windex. It cleans well, leaves no streaks and dries very fast!! you don't want the floors to get too wet or they'll get ruined. There are more expensive cleaners that do the same job, but key word there expensive, they have the same basic ingridents as windex!! I use it about once every 2-3 weeks and my floors never looked better!! I spray a thin layer then mop it up with a wide head terry cloth microfiber removable mop, i got from home depot that cuts the cleaning time in half because of how large it is. try this out and let me know how it works!! Hope this helps, Happy cleaning!!
Q: best vacuum cleaners?
Miele okorder /
Q: how is bagless an improvement over the old fashioned vacuum cleaners with bags? I hate having to deal with the filth that comes out of the bagless machines. What was wrong with the bags? Am I missing something here?
I've had both types and will never go back to bags! I have an older Bissell I use upstairs that takes bags and I'm saving money to get rid of the silly thing. My reasons: 1. Bag less have much more suction. Most of us empty them after every use because you can see the dirt/pet hair and such or at least right before we use them so you're always getting maximum performance and suction. 2. Cost and availability of the bags. 3. One would go broke if you changed bags every time you used the sweeper! And after about the first 5 minutes of a fresh bag, the filter paper is partially clogged and there goes your suction down the tubes. 4. Because we empty them more, stinky sweepers are much less likely. How I empty mine to minimize the dust issue is to place is all but in the bottom of a 13 gallon trash can I keep on the enclosed back porch just for that purpose. It was an extra I had hanging around. I keep a trash bag in it also. I pop the latch and the high sides on the trash can keep a large part of the debris right in there. And filtering technology has changed a lot and gotten a lot better over the old bag vacuums. Several manufacturers are doing the cyclonic thing now. Dyson, of course, but Bissell has their version for 1/2 the price. This action spins more of the dirt out of the air stream moving through the machine, deposits it in the collection cup and your suction stays much more powerful. Nope, ain't going back to that hassle or additional cost all the time.
Q: I HATE dysons and I don't mind buying bags my options r Oreck Pilot, Eureka airspeed Bagged, Hoover Windtunnel Bagged and Shark Navigato lift away pro I have 3 dogs English Bulldog which shed all year round, Boston Terrier, Chihuahua and don't recommend any other vacuum cleaners I just need to know which one is the best
Can't go wrong with Kirby.
