- Q: If i reduced considerably the size of the hose of a vacuum cleaner say by 4, is the suction power goin to increase by 4? Since pressure is equal to force/area. im trying to make my vacuum cleaner ultra powerful. thank you.
- No it will not increase. The velocity at the nozzle will increase but lifting power will not, it will pick up small objects better but not larger ones. The danger is that most vacuum cleaners rely on the flow of air through the motor to cool it, when you reduce this by restricting the nozzle you may overheat and burn out the motor !
- Q: Ive got a dog biscuit stuck in it.. if i take those two little screws out will i be able to get it out? will it be easy too put back together? i hate taking things apart because sometimes they just don't want to go back together!

- I okorder and asked if there were ever discounts on these machines. It's not that I didn't want the machine or didn't understand the price I just like feeling like I got a good deal. They told me that they could offer me the Miele Uniq for $1299 and there was free shipping and because I am out of state I was able to pay no tax too. So $200 off made me feel like I was saving some money so I went ahead and bought it. Went flawless. I am not sure what model you are looking at but sounds like they give discounts on all machines. - I will call him wise man.These vacuum cleaners are good for nothing in Mumbai where we have small houses .It is good to try it once of twice.It occupies lot of space,and not suitable.
- Q: How can I fix a vacuum that will not turn off. I vacuumed up a piece of clothing and pulled it out of the bottom, ever since the only way to turn the vacuum off is via the plug. Any suggestions?
- The on/off switch is probably shot. You'd have to open the casing and replace the switch. You'll need a soldering iron and some basic soldering skills... the easy way is to unplug the vacuum and be thankful the switch failed in the on position rather than off.

- I hate the Roomba and can totally identify with your mom. It doesn't reach all the areas that need to be vacuumed and gets in the way. Have you tried the Oreck?
- Q: Why do people keep running over a string a dozen times with their vacuum cleaner, then reach down, pick it up, examine it, then put it down to give the vacuum one more chance?
- I fight this urge. I normally will pick it up and somehow hold it until I make a trip to dump the contents of the sweeper. But I have this urge to throw it down for the sweeper to pick up. Why I don't know.

- First of all, unless your mother is very enthusiastic about her vacuuming, don't fix it for her birthday. Take her out to dinner, buy her a nice pair of slippers and her favorite perfume. Not a vacuum. All you can do is clean it out as much as you can. Look for larger objects that may have been sucked in and remove them. If it is clogged with a bunch of hair from someone or some pet, try and stop that hair from reaching the floor. Combing your pet on a regular basis and throwing away the hair not only helps your animal in the summer heat, but also keeps the hair off the floor. Good luck, and find a better gift for your mom than a working vacuum.

- I have the home vac (the Sage - which is designed for pet hair) and LOVE it. Now, I only have a cat - not a dog but it works great!!! This is my 2nd Roomba I am hooked. I too, am looking into the pool vac. So far, have read great reviews. Good luck. P.S. Roomba support is wonderful if not satisfied, return policy is great easy.
