- Hi Rick, its hard to tell from your description, if you are mech. Inclined check the circuit fuse its in the fuseblock cover should identify, visually inspect, test with multimeter or testlight for continuity if its good check wiper motor for current when you turn wipers on,if its got battery voltage present the internal brushes maybe worn or motor or linkage are frozen. If no current is present at motor the on/off switch or wiring from switch to motor are defective. If the motor operates when you tap the housing with switch on then the motor/brushes are worn. - There is a cam inside the wiper mechanism. The wiper arm has a roller at the lower tip that follows the cam and makes the arm go in and out as it sweeps. I don't know what you call it, I usually just call it a single-armed wiper?? Some models didn't do this, for example the early 190E's didn't, they just swing with no cam to alter things. Lately I think they've gotten away from that system. The Gov't determines what percentage of the windshield has to be swept and this dictates alot of it.

- Could be a computer part too. MOST parts stores can run a diagnostic check for FREE to help pinpoint what is causing it. There are many onboard computers on vehicles today and if one is sending a wrong signal it'll play hell with a lot of things.

- Yes, the length of your wipers makes a big difference! The wipers are a certain length for your car, longer wipers would probably hit each other. It's a matter of timing. I would recommend either going to an auto parts store a asking the clerk. Or, and this is my choice, you could go to Wal-Mart in the automotive dept. and look at the reference book that they should have and find the listing for your car. There are a number of brands and styles of blades to choose from. You might consider a triple bladed wiper that helps remove mud,etc. Also check out a product called Rain-X, it causes rain, mud, and virtually everything else to slide right off. Just follow directions.

- Q: When the wipers are turned off, the one on the passenger side sorta sticks off the side, or isn‘t flush with the glass. When I drive the wind blows it, and it shakes. - The wiper transmission has a wreck-away characteristic that keeps the aspects from breaking while the wipers are frozen to the glass. The wreck-away unit must be reset. It takes a pair of a million/2 hour and you may eliminate the full wiper cover to get admission to the wiper motor. Take it to a expert.
- Q: They were working fine, then just stopped halfway up the windshield and had a smell of burning plastic. The fuse is fine but they just randomly work on the very highest setting. After they do work on the highest setting they stay up.
- Try other wiper relays in that vehicle , check the wiring ,also take a look at the wiper assembly itself and it could be that the switch or wiring has fried or melted. Hope that helps and Merry Xmas.
