More Applications of Universal Windshield Wiper:
- Q: I was driving home last night and my windshield wipers just stopped working on my thunderbird. I‘ve been told that they aren‘t working because the bar that connects to the motor is slipping off causing the windshield wipers not to work.
- those long arms that works the wipers just pop off and on so pop the arm back on and hope it stays !
- Q: My driver side windshield wiper seems to be getting caught when I run it. It runs fine for a second or 2, but then it like stumbles and gets caught. I tried, like an idiot, to run my wipers last week when it was snowing and that‘t when I noticed the problem. The arm itself moves fine, back and forth, with no issue, but when the wiper is on it, that‘s when it stumbles. I just broke the blade on my driver wiper running it a few minutes ago. It got caught, or stumbled on the passenger one, and now the blade‘s broken, so I have to buy a new one. I thought maybe I needed to tighen it, so I did, and it ran fine for a few minutes, but then started stumbling again. Any suggestions?I would take it to be looked at, but the car places here charge an arm and a leg just to LOOK at the car. I‘m wonder if I didn‘t tighten it enough, or if the blade needs to be aligned.
- this is funny, great question, they don't go out of alignment they only work one way, up and down. there not working properly, because there worn, or there not the right ones for your car. worst case your wiper motor is going out and there not going all the way up and down.
- Q: my car wont start all the eletronics work inside but wipers are not going full speed. Does this mean it is the battery and how can i know for sure without using any special tools? Thx
- Little story. When the car runs, the alternator charges the battery. This is no different than if you went to a restaurant and waiters were always coming around to fill up your tea cup(so it was always full) If the car is not running (there is no charging of the battery so you are drinking it down to nothing) Wipers drink a lot of power. So do headlights. The starter is the biggest gulper so you always want to have enough power left in the battery to turn over the starter, otherwise your car will not run(so the alternator can recharge the battery to full again) How do you know when you are using up all the battery juice. Experience and noting that the headlights are not as bright or the wipers are not working full speed. It is time to shut it down or start the car now so that the battery can be recharged. You say Car won't start. Then shut off the wipers and the headlights and put on the 4 way emergency lights. That is all that should be on. Your car is on a diet electrically speaking. Your car has a problem and you need a repair or a tow to be repaired.
- Q: I have a 2001 olds Aurora. Why doesnt my windshield wiper squirt out the fluid?
- check to see if all the lines are attached correctly. If Ok then check to see if outlet is plugged, if this is OK then you have to replace the pump motor in the reservoir
- Q: What the heck is the spline size anyways? Will a quarter inch really make a difference?
- The dimension they are giving is for the shaft that the wiper arm attaches too---has to be the right size. Take the old wiper arm off and measure the diameter of the shaft it goes onto to get the correct size. Splines are the little grooves on the shaft that keep the wiper arm from rotating on the shaft while operating and must be lined up with grooves in the wiper arm to line up on the glass properly.
- Q: I have a montana van and the whiperbladesworkbut when I go to shut them offthe stay on the winshield enstead of folding down toward the hooddoes anyone now what is wrong?
- could be the winshield wiper relay. Try turning them on then off and on their way down try to help one of them go all the way down using your hand.
- Q: My wipers got stuck on each other and now only the driver‘s side wiper works. Any ideas?
- sounds like you need to realign and tighten your wipers, there is just a little cap covering the bolt the holds the wipers on
- Q: Today I was driving in the rain when out of nowhere my driver-side windshield wiper went all the way to the left hanging off the side of my truck, and would not do any thing once reset in place. The passenger-side wiper seems to work just fine; but if I start my wipers up, the passenger-side wiper will get caught on the driver-side wiper and basically get stuck or bend the driver-side wiper. I had to drive slow to the store and pick up some Rain-X just so I could see enough to make it home.Is there an easy fix I am overlooking, or is this gonna cost some money to get repaired? Any help would be awesome, I am no mechanic.
- You may be able to flip up the little cover on the wiper pivot, and tighten the little nut on the wiper arm. Point it where you want it first.
- Q: My windshield wipers are stuck in the upright position on my 2001 Pontiac Montana and they wont return to the right position. They work fine when I‘m using them, but when I turn them off they return to the upright position. I took out the fuse, and that is not the problem. Any ideas on why they would stay that way and any suggestions as to how to fix it would be great.
- Well there is a sensor that tells the motor where to stop and that could be faulty also the wire going to it could be bad , the sensor is on the wiper motor or built into it. What I'd do is go to a U pick auto wreckers pop out another wiper motor for about 10 to 20 bucks,or buy the whole wiper motor and linkage assembly and switch them , or just get the motor and unplug your wiper motor try just plugging in the used motor , run the wiper motor see where it stops , compare it to the wiper motor on the vehicle , you might need to remove the grill and wiper arms to get a close up look and check when it's plugged in and stropped where it's arm stops. Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way it more then likely is the wiper motors stop position sensor.
