Q: I’m currently doing some research so I hope you guys can really help me out here.Mercedes Benz has a two system (i think) for their braking lights, one is that they it will be ON (as what we normally see) when normal braking is applied (slowing down or stopping) and two (which is their newest system) is that they will FLASH (I think for the 3rd brake light) when emergency braking is applied. How do they do that? Do they work with the speed sensors or pressure applied to the brake pedal or what? How is it done?
In case the driver heavily pushes the brake pedal, the Electronic Stability Program (ESP) automatically activates the Adaptive Brake Light system. As a result, the brake lights are now flashing at a frequency of 3 Hz instead of keeping the same intensity as long as the driver presses the pedal. This makes the car easier noticeable and informs the following drivers of a potential hazard ahead. Once the driver releases the brake pedal, the ESP automatically turns off the function and the flash lights work just as normal.
Q: Are the car brakes hydraulic brake?
No, the car's foot brake is not all hydraulic brake, hydraulic brake is often used in small vehicles, for the braking force is not too large on the vehicle. Many types of foot brake, common for hydraulic brake, pneumatic brake and mechanical brake, etc. Hydraulic brake for small trucks, cars and some motorcycles. Pneumatic brake is mainly used for heavy goods vehicles, trucks and large passenger cars, which is characterized by a great brake effort, the system's sealing requirements are not high. But the sensitivity is worse than the hydraulic brake. Vacuum power is only a part of the brake system, used in hydraulic systems more, because the use of vacuum power method can greatly reduce the driver's foot brake pedal strength, reduce the driver's load. Now small vehicles are basically equipped with a vacuum booster.
Q: as part of some science work i have to explain how a hydraulic brake system works
How Do Hydraulic Brakes Work
Q: I have a 1994 Toyota Corolla. I accidently peeled off something soft and spongy from the bottom of the brake pedal (Don‘t ask why) and now the brake light in the rear window and the passenger-side brake light stays on constantly without me pressing the brake. The driver‘s side brake light is the only one that functions properly when I press the brake. Also the window and passenger-side brake light stays on even when my car is off. I have to disconnect the battery or it will die. What is the spongy part called on the brake pedal? I don‘t think I need a whole switch. Just that part that may only be a couple of dollars.Has anyone seen this before?
Check the wiring of the car basically those wire are connected with the brake and the light also then you can get the problem.
Q: I bled the break lines to get the air out, but now the brakes are locked like I have my brake pedal to the floor. I can‘t even move the jeep. ??? Did I not bleed the lines correctly or enough?
Rob lets do this one step at a time, you did do something wrong other than not knowing you cant get air in your brake system unless it has been opened up as in calipers overhauled, brake lines removed and so on, did you machine the rotors? if not then you just pad slapped the brake job, not good if you did pad slap the job, are you sure you have the right pads, as in did you match them up to your old ones exactly. And did you bleed the brakes properly? starting by bleeding the brakes by starting on the rear brakes farthest from the master cylinder, then the next rear brake then the opposite side of the master at the front then next brake caliper, And when you did bleed the brakes did you bleed them down so far did you by chance empty the master cylinder, and if you did, did you remove the master cylinder and bench bleed the master? Because it sounds like you still have air in the system that you some how got in it (reason for pedal going to floor) and you have either installed the pads wrong or the wrong pads, that is why it is locking up
Q: Im building a 1970 plymouth Duster and trying to find a modern Chrysler product that will interchange with a 1970 Plymouth duster for front disc brake system
I've never heard of welding a caliper in place in anything, wouldn't work right and brakes would be garbage. A proper conversion will include brackets to mount your calipers to the vehicle correctly so they can slide and move like they're supposed to. The best thing to do is to contact several different performance parts companies (such as Summitt, PAW, etc) or check out their websites and see who has the best deal on a conversion kit. A good conversion kit will include all necessary items, including a new master cylinder and proportioning valve along with the calipers, pads, and mounting brackets.
Q: I have a 95 mitsubishi eclipse and am having troubleshooting a problem in the braking system. anyone? This morning I got on the freeway about five miles from my house, got up to 60 and then it started slowing down. when it slowed finaly to a stop. After that I tried to move it and realized the brakes were locked down on the wheels and the brake pedal won‘t budge. it is stuck no matter how hard I try to push it I‘m not sure how many of the wheels are locked but at least some are I‘m assuming that it is not all of them because I can still move the car and get it up to twenty as long as it is in first gear any ideas? also, there is plenty of break fluid in it.
You should have. Cooking - Pots - Pans - Containers - Measuring Cup Cleaning - Hand soap, Dish Soap, Detergent, Vacuum Medical - Safety kit, Band aids, Hand Sanitizer, tooth brush, bedding Other - Internet, dart board, air conditioner.
Q: uh oh! what happens if i accidentally put power steering fluid in my brake system ?
Do not EVER put power steering or transmission fluid in a brake Master Cylinder. Power steering fluid is petroleum based, and will cause every rubber part in your braking system to deteriorate. If you have not driven the vehicle, IMMEDIATELY flush out the braking system with denatured alcohol. Even then, it may be to late. I have had the sad duty to inform more than one confused and upset driver that he or she now must spend 1000 or more dollars to correct this problem. This is the worst thing you (or most likely, a shade-tree mechanic) can do to your brakes. If your system is contaminated, the least you can get away with replacing is: 1: Master Cylinder 2: all flexible brake hoses 3: Calipers and/or wheel cylinders 4: possibly (though not always) proportioning and measuring valves. Make sure the steel brake lines are flushed out with denatured alcohol. Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings, but you simply cannot substitute ps or trans fluid for brake fluid. It is possible to put brake fluid in your power steering system with no ill effects, which is where this confusion started.
Q: My Son accidently put a little bit of Power Steering fluid in with the Brake Fluid on his Ford Escort, Will this cause a problem? It is probably about 1% of the mix.
running low on trany oil . check it out
Q: hi i have dodge avenger 2008 i was washing it up when i finished i went for a drive and pushed down the brake pedal and the rear left tire braked strongly but the other tires was braking normally and the rear left tire braked so strongly that it was stopped moving and the tire rubber were burned but the other tires braked normally .so whats wrong with the that tire ? is there is a problem with the brake system?
Sorry to hear you are having a concern with the brakes on your 2008 Dodge Avenger after washing it. I checked for possible Technical Service Bulletins but could not find anything related to the concern you described. You may want to consider having the vehicle diagnosed by your local authorized Dodge Service Department or a trusted mechanic to see what is happening with the braking system on your vehicle.
