- boy is that a can of worms. it is my theory that there should be no special protection for journalists, because that implies a condition that must be met before someone is entitled to their first amendment right. free speech is something we are all entitled to... the phrase free press doesn't imply a free press corps but the ability to publish your words. you should not need to rely on a corporate protection when disseminating truth. but these are battles that must be fought still, the law does not answer the questions you've asked clearly. judith miller did something peculiar when she went to jail to protect a source who came forward himself... she claimed she was protecting a source, but if he came forward he obviously wasn't feeling threatened. i hope she was being truthful, but all i have is her word. that's all we've ever got. make sure you use yours for something worthwhile, because i honestly have no idea how protected we are. especially when you say prior restraint... are you planning on copying something? libel?

- bad idea bro_doggle. you could have a law suit stuck to your you know what. if you aren't looking for a full time job with the press, try to get an internship at your local newspaper. you won't have the hours of a full time job; maybe just make your availability the weekends. regardless, you'll get experience you need and the press pass you want!

- In the old days, you could buy a press pass from various companies advertising in the back of the writer's magazines. Now, of course, you can buy a $15 laminator at OfficeMax and call yourself whatever you like. But that only gets you so far. Most press passes have authorization information on them, a contact someone can call to verify that you're really on an assignment. Many events also require you to pre-register to get their press credentials. I suggest you also consider having some contact cards printed up (VistaPrint does some nice work) ... these can be presented to those you meet, greet and interview to convey the image you desire. When I meet someone I hand them one and identify myself as writing an article for the local newspaper rather than being from the local newspaper. Good Luck.

But... they do have a chest press machine which is essentially the same as a bench press but you are sat up-right instead of lying down.Am I working the exact same muscle groups by doing a chest press, obviously I know it's working the pectorals and the triceps as a secondary muscle group so it is basically the same? Is either one better than the other?My other option if a chest press is not as good as a bench press, is to do a bench press in the gym just with 2 dumbbells as appose to a bar bell.Please give your thoughts...Thanks!
