Operations Conditions
1. The medium temperature should not be over 60oC, the density 1200Kg/m3, and the pH value within 5-9.
2. During running, the pump must not be lower than the permitted lowest liquid level.
3. Rated voltage 380 V, rated frequency 50 Hz. The motor can run successfully, only under the condition the deviations of both rated voltage and frequency are not over ± 5%.
4. The maximum diameter of the solid grain going through the pump has not to be larger than 50% of that of the pump outlet.

- Q: Car is ford taurus 98.The car had some problems including overheating as thermostat was bad so was was not working. i drove it 25 miles to garage (i had to stop once because too hot to let it cool), i brought it to Ford who replaced the thermostat. Now they tell me some bits of thermostat broke and they need to replace the waterpump and want $620 for it. The other repair were also extremely expensive and i want to bring it to another garage 1.3 miles away on flat road.-1- is it safe to drive 1.3 mile with no water pump or should iget it towed?-2- should i have to pay for the water pump or is it ford's fault if they did not remove the bits of broken thermostat before reconnecting new thermostat to hose ? Can i prove that the pump was working when i came in if i drove 25 miles with it ?Thanks for your help.
- driving it 1.3 miles should be no problem, but why do they believe the water pump is bad? Do they have the water pump off the engine yet? It's not impossible for bits of the thermostat to break up and cause a problem, but it IS unlikely. Was the car maintained with the proper coolant otherwise? It is not unlike a garage to get you in for one repair and sell up to another that you do not need. Please answer the questions above... Thanks for responding!! The thermostat is made so that if the spring breaks (which it can),the pieces are captured around the center post and, generally, can't be sent thru the cooling system. When a pump goes bad, it is usually the bearings that go out and they can create a whirring noise and as they get worse, coolant will start to leak where the shaft comes out of the water pump. A simple way to tell if it is bad is to try to wiggle this shaft or look for coolant leaking out the area of the shaft (with the engine off, of course). To answer your original question tho, IF this is legitimate, then you should pay for the water pump. If the water pump is off already, did they take it off without your knowledge? If so, don't drive it. Get them to put the old one back on (free) and drive it down the road. If it's still on the engine, driving it the 1.3 miles shouldn't be any problem. Best of luck to you P.S. One of the responders above said to loosen the radiator cap because the water heats quicker under pressure. THIS IS NOT CORRECT. If the car were to overheat while the cap was off, you run the risk of losing all of your coolant.

- Normally if the water pump is bad it will be leaking fluid from a little weep hole right under the pulley bearings. If you have fluid coming from there then yes it needs to be replaced.

- The water pump with frequency conversion is set correctly and will not burn the motor. If there is a problem, the frequency converter will automatically stop running. The frequency converter can change the positive and negative (frequency changer without this function, change the phase sequence)

- Check d suction line 4 any chokes, prime d pump if necessary, check discharge line 4 any chokes, And it depends where u have kept the pump...if it is below d head, ur pump may nt pump bcz it might nt have dat capacity to take suction. Also check d impeller and the glands bcz if it is a priming p/p and the glands leak, u will not be able to prime as the water will leak thru the glands.... Hope dis will help u out
- Q: Im considering installing an electric water pump in my car and i dont know much about electric water pumps yet so if you could tolerate a couple of dumb questions....? are electric water pumps reliable enough to be put into a daily driver (i just used the meziere name as an example, its the only name i am familiar with in electric water pumps)? i realise what the engine is basically done if the water pump goes.... could a change this small ever show up on either mpg or hp readings for a 200hp v6? finally, if the electric water pump just isnt worth the reliability risk, would a water pump underdrive pully do (almost) the same job of freeing work from the engine without putting the motor in harms way? thanks!

- Q: i have a significant stream of water running out of the coolant return side of the engine under the coolant pipe on a 1997 caravan i will lose a gallon and then it stops until the engine heats up and of course more comes out with expansion
- You will have to remove the AC compressor, all of the drive belts, alternator bracket, power steering pump and bracket, motor mount, timing cover, and the timing belt. This job calls for 4.3 hours and I was able to do one in about 3. If you really want to attempt this yourself, let me know and I will give you detailed step by step instructions to do it, right down to the timing marks and what size each bolt is. If you have never done a water pump/timing belt on any car before, I strongly recommend you don't attempt this repair yourself. The 3.0 really isn't a bad one to do, if you have the tools and some mechanical knowledge and ability.
- Q: I just bought a 1997 Honda Civic, done about 85k. There is no record of the timing belt having ever been changed so I want to get this done as a priority. My usual mechanic can't do it for a month due to other commitments so I have been ringing round for quotes, and generally these have all been to change the belt quot;plus the kit- which makes sense, change the lot while you are in there.Surprisingly, the cheapest quote I have had was from my local Honda dealer, however, they have said this is for the belt only as they don't change the tensioner/water pump on this model. Are they full of it? I'm not sure whether to take this as expertise from the car's manufacturer or total BS from some chancer trying to make money from us having to come back when other things go wrong!
- We have owned Honda's for years, including three 90's Civics. We have had the timing belts changed by the dealer also - also the cheapest price - and they have always recommended changing the tensioner and the water pump while in there. The timing belt is such a critical piece of equipment that is should be changed on schedule. The new belts go much longer than the old belts. But it's only a hundred more at most to have the water pump replaced at the same time so make them do it. If you water pump goes out in another 20000 miles, the labor charge to get to it will be 400 or 500 bucks. Most dealerships will do the water pump for parts cost markup if they are also doing your timing belt. You can also negotiate your price with a dealership. Try it. If they won't budge, find a new dealer.
- Q: the question i have is can the pump be turning and not leaking but not pump water??? i know the olden days (the good ole days) as long as the impeller was turning it would pump water! leaking seal is when it went bad,or locked up..like a box fan blade as long as it is turning its moving air...
- Yes, the impeller could be broken. Believe it or not, the belt could be on wrong. If by chance it was replaced recently, it is possible to put the belt on the wrong side of the pulley. It should be running on the bottom side, not the top-next to the little plastic cover.

- The short answer to your question: It is unlikely that a water pump will go bad without leaking, but weirder things have happened. Your thinking is right overheating only when you drive is an indication of limited flow, either caused by a restriction (radiator, hose, thermostat), an air bubble, or a bad pump. Are you sure that the air is bled out of your system? If you have an air pocket in your engine or at the pump, you will get reduced flow. I think that the 4.7 Durango has a radiator cap, if so, with the engine cold, take the cap off, fill it, and start the engine. If you get bubbles every time you rev the engine, then you may have a bad head gasket, this would introduce bubbles in the system... Make sure that the lower radiator hose is not collapsing. Most of these hoses have a stiff spring inside to keep them from collapsing when the water pump is running. Otherwise, my guess would be that your pump is bad, or you have more restrictions in your system. Good luck.
