Q: I'm running a 3ghz ecs p965t with 2gb of RAM, and I'm trying to install an XFX 8800GT. First time I tried it, it didn't power on at all, and I figured it might be the power supply (mine was a 350w) so I tried a friend's 450w, still no power. So I went out and bought a 500w, and STILL no power. Wierder still, if I leave the card plugged into the board but don't plug in the power connector, it makes a long high-pitched wailing sound but the system does power itself.I'm assuming it must be a problem with the card itself, but does anyone have any other possibilities I could try before negotiating a replacement in PC World?
I think its the card. This is not uncommon. Card sounds DOA. Exchange it. 500 watts is good, the others are not, but lack of power would not kill a card, I don't believe. good luck. 8800GT is a sweet card, thats what I have, I play at 1920x1080 and get between 40 and 60 FPS in far cry 2 and great frames in oblivion maxed out. I get around 30 in crysis on high.
Q: Why cross bonding in power cable?
If so, the answer is: By tying multiple cables together, the current carrying capacity of the total cable is increased without having the total cost increase in proportion. In other words -- using the picture as an example -- tying 4 equal sized cables together increases the current carrying capacity by a factor of 4, but the cost of this multiple-wire cable is less than the cost of a larger single cable that would carry an equal amount of current. .
Q: ...suction cup mount? There is a port on the side of the device that the vehicle power cable fits into, but the manual says the vehicle power cable is designed to plug into the suction cup mount. What happens if I plug the vehicle power cable directly into the gps unit? Does the unit operate, but not charge? Does it not operate at all? Does it operate and charge? Before trying it, I'd like to know so I don't harm the device.
According to the Nuvi 370 instruction manual - this unit appears to be designed to receive power only through the suction cup mount. In other words - the vehicle power adapter connects to the suction cup mount, and when you attach the device to the mount - it receives the power it needs to operate. Looking at the photo in the owner's manual and the identified ports and controls - the device does not appear to have a direct connect power/charge port to which the vehicle power cable can directly connected. If your device does in fact have a charge/power port on its side that the vehicle power cable can directly connect to, then you should be able to make that connection without any problem. It should operate and charge your device just fine. Note: Your unit has a USB port for connecting the device to a computer for updates and for charging (via the USB port). If you want to charge the device without using the suction cup mount (and therefore the vehicle power cable to which it connects), you have the option of buying a vehicle USB power converter/adapter that plugs into your vehicle's 12V power outlet. Then you would simply connect a USB cable from the USB power adapter to your device to charge it. Update: Reading the instructions in the owner's manual a little more closely - it would appear that you can certainly plug in the AC power adapter directly to the unit, although they are not really clear about it. (The manual could have been written a little more clearly in my opinion.) So again, I will reiterate that if the vehicle power adapter connector will mate directly to the device - then it will power and charge the device without having to use the suction cup mount, if that is your desire. BTW, congrats on your new Garmin 370 GPS unit. Really nice!
Q: I need 600W of power for my new computer, but all I have is 2 300W, 20-pin power supplies. What I'm wondering is if I can combine the 2 20-pin connectors and turn them into 1 24-pin connector?

Q: I like to play my PSP at home quite a bit. When I do I plug in the AC adapter so that the battery power doesn't get used up unnecessarily. I see that when I have it plugged into the wall that under the system information it says that the power is being used from an external source instead of the PSP's battery. I take it then that the battery won't overcharge and it's OK to use it this way, or do I have to remove the PSP's battery when using the power cable?
It is fine. The PSP is just telling you that it is taking power from the outlet instead of the battery.
Q: On an ATI Radeon HD 4870 1 GB, It has 2 slots of PCIe Power. In the box, it already has the 2 ''Y'' cables/PCIe Adapter ( I haven't bought it, just watched someone unboxing it). I might not have a PCIe Power Connector on my 550W as I haven't bought it yet either. So when you insert the 2 ''Y'' cables/PCIe Adapter,it branches out 4 Molex slots, do you insert all 4 or 3 or 2 or just 1? If the answer is 2, do you insert one Molex connector on each adapter or both on the ''Y'' Cable/PCIe Adapter?Lastly, Can a ATI Radeon HD4870 fit into a micro-atx casing?Sorry for my bad EnglishThank You =D
The card needs 2x PCIe power cables so you need to plug in both of them. Each power cable needs 2x molex, so you need to plug all 4 in. Your power supply may also have a PCIe connector anyway so you might as well use that for one of them if you have it (it can't be used for anything else anyway) and then just use 2x molex to power the other one.
Q: I am trying to install a new Power Supply Dynex 520 Watt ATX and I cannot figure out what cable to connect to the hard drive. It was very small and I had a hard time connecting it. Do you have a clue?
besides the actuality that maximum power aspects are interchangable, no longer all power aspects artwork on all structures. some issues to make valuable of while procuring a power furnish are one million. the recent furnish has the superb power pins could desire to connect on your motherboard and instruments. 2. the recent power furnish suits on your computing gadget case, the dissimilar severe end power aspects are somewhat extra desirable and don't sit down real in all circumstances, 3. the recent power furnish has the two sufficient Wattage and Amperage. a superb style of individuals make the blunders via getting getting a power furnish with too low amp score by way of fact it became into extra inexpensive. look at the two by way of fact they're the two important.
Q: My Alienware Aurora Hard Drive SATA Data Cable is plugged in but not the SATA Power Cable. There are a lot of SATA Power Cables (And 3 of them are conveniently located in the hard drive slots; 1 per each slot, but I am just making sure before I do it) They all have numbers like P12 or P5 on them and I don;t know which one to use with my Alienware Aureroa aHard Drive (An uncustomiszed Alienware Aurora) and I just wanna make sure I use the right one so my computer does't explode
If the plug fits, it's fine. Hard drives use relatively small amounts of power, so overloading isn't an issue no matter which plug you choose.
Q: My acer laptop's charger wire thing has broken and i wondered if you knew if you could buy them from shops and how much they'd be?
Do not buy a generic brand it will damage your laptop over time. Buy the original adapter as it will guarantee the voltage is right for your laptop. I have seen generic adapters ruin laptop motherboards. Do not know what model you have but do simple searches like the link below and you can find them cheap. Good luck.
Q: I never expected this problem, but I have an HP with a liteon power supply. The thing has these weird clips on the power cables that go into the hard drive. How do I free the hard drive power cables? I have to put in a new power supply for my video card.
SATA just pulls out.. actually so does molex connectors (for IDE drives).. just very tough sometimes to get them out. If its black and kinda thin, then its probably SATA and they should just pull straight out.
