- Q: HiIm planning to buy a Antec Nine Hundered, how long would my power supply unit cables need to be to run my motherboard (Intel Tappen D945GTP) thanks
- pretty much all cables on a psu is long enough to reach any mobo in any case (assuming its the correct form factor)
- Q: i have a ASUS M4A87TD-USB3 mobo and a Corsair 550 Watts Power Supply. Ive looked in the manual andit says you need to connect the one that ive connected and a 4 pin. It says that if you dont connect the 4 pin the computer wont boot! is there a way around this or it f**ked?
- Just replace the power supply. What's the problem? You have an OLD ATX powersupply with 20-pins. The NEWER ATX power supply is 20+4 pins. --- Kasey C, PC guru since Apple II days Make it idiot proof and someone will make a better idiot.
- Q: I just got a cheap intel i3 custom pc build on OKorder. But, i have no idea on how to set up all those PSU cables and the fans and everything else (seller thought it was a great idea to unplug every cable inside, which led to me turning on the pc assuming everything was good to go which led to the cpu overheating after turning it on) But anyway, i need to know how to setup the psu cables. My PC looks like a mess with all those cables jumbled up together. There are 4 distinct think cables sticking out from the PSU and all the other cables come from the case or the fans. Some of the cables come with numbers (1, 2, 3) and some are already plugged into the mobo, so i don't want to touch those. How to do this?
- CD/DVD drives and hard drive all use the same power connectors (multicolored), so plug them in whichever way you want. There is no specific order. Don't remove any ribbon cables, and if you wish to have a floppy drive, the power cable is slightly smaller than normal ones. Commonly, fans can be plugged in to any port on the motherboard as long as they reach without straining the cable. They can only be inserted one way and are likely three-prong so it should be easy. The numbers on your cords don't matter.
- Q: it is not the power cable either
- Hi okorder Hope this helps. Thanks and Regards, Chinmay S
- Q: Ok so my friend gave me a 40LCD samsung tv, but he had lost the power cable some how. I have actually found a cable to buy on the internet but i have some concerns. 1 i'm not entirely sure its the right cable for my tv, the socket looks like it would fit but the cable claims to work for all samsung song and lg tvs, when i know that my parents song lcd tv has a more complicated power cable. So i'm worried that using this cable could like wreck the tv or something. the second thing is that i herd you can call samsung and they'll send you a cable for free

- Q: I want to turn on my PC but my power cable was missing so i got a new one. A small sheet on the PC's power cable input hole says quot;230 V Rated voltagebut the new power cable fork has some characteristics written on it like EL - 202 / 10-16 / 250 quot;. So I'm afraid that 250 stands for Voltage so the power cable voltage is different from pc's rated voltage. I live in europe and we have 220V here from the power supply. Can I use this power cable or will it mess up my pc ? It's quite a quick issue that I need help with. Many thanks to everyone who can reply quickly. Cheers ;)
- The cable seems to be rated higher than your input voltage so you should be okay.
- Q: is there any way to fix this? i don't want to upgrade my power thingy though.
- Did the cardboard incorporate a cable that has a huge and small white connector on one end and a huge connector on the different? Or a small connector on one end and a extensive 4pin connector on the different end? If it did, connect the small connector to the small 4 pin interface connection on the lower back of the cardboard and hook the means suppy to the different end of the cardboard. This ingredients the voltage mandatory to run the fan, you pick this for cooling.
- Q: I bought an SATA hard drive off someone that appears to use a 15-pin connector. There does not appear to be any other connectors on the back. How does this thing get powered? I have another SATA hard drive that uses the regular 7-pin connector, and on the back, just like an IDE drive, it has a place to connect the power. This SATA hard drive though just has that big 15-pin connector in the back, and nothing else.
- I believe that is the power connector. SATA data cables are 7-pin. SATA power cables are 15-pin. The old Molex cables are 4 pin. (Molex being what IDE drives use.) Some SATA drives have Molex ports on them for use with older powersupplies. (Just like some motherboards can use both 20 pin and 24 pin connectors.) If your powersupply doesn't have a SATA power cable, then you'll need to get a Molex-SATA power cable adapter. (See the Newegg link for one adapter.)
- Q: I'm extending one of my PSU power cables because is to short. the line got 2 black/1 yellow and 1 red (molex) I know the colors have to be matched but if at the other end I end up mixing the 2 black lines, will there be a problem?ps: I already sleeved the cable for that matter I can't see the 2 black cables inside and i forgot to mark them. :)
- first of all dont make any home made concoctions you can find those tipe of extensions in a pc store for under a buck and it dosnt mater the black cables are just grounds the important ones are the red and yelow
- Q: i have a 97 chevy malibu and i need to know where to run the power cable through the fire wall. or where could i get a diagram that is simple enough for me to understand...
- As mentioned you should be able to find a hole already but I like to drill my own and keep all of my electronics separate from the other factory wires. It should not hurt anything to run them with the other wires but you could get some induced current plus it makes it easy to keep track of all your stuff in case you would need to take it out. 2 things to keep in mind no matter where you go through though 1 make sure you have a bushing in the hole to protect the wire and 2 be sure to run your ground beside your power wire, dont separate them too far.
