- Prices vary a lot because of the different qualities of carpet , but you can figure around 3 dollars a s/f installed with basic pad. This won t include ant rip out or disposal of the old. Size of the rooms will effect the pricing since carpet comes in 12 and 15' rolls ( for the most part) and a 10x10 room will require the purchase of the same amount of carpet as a 10x12 room. Bigger rooms will require seaming and extra carpet. No professional will add 10% for scrap. A few inches is common practice for out of square rooms but 10% is a rip off. And you never have to buy a whole roll . You buy only the lineal foot of carpet thats needed. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar. GL
- Q: I am trying to decorate my house and I'm really stuck on what color of area rug to get for my living room!!!My walls are beige with white trim. Hardwood wood floors in the living room and bedrooms. Black granite floors in the halls, kitchen, breakfast area, and bathrooms. I am going for a mainly neutral color scheme overall (a lot of brown and black), except the bedrooms will be done in their own individual style. - I would go with the red for that particular rug and pick up the color in accessories around the room. It will be much more visually interesting. If you choose a different rug you could pick something with browns and tans with some other color in it. IMO you really need some color. Red isn't my favorite but I think it would look fantastic. I prefer orange, teal or spring green. But the accent colors you choose don't have to be bright. They can be soft blues, yellows or greens etc. Some great moodboard inspiration links below

- Personal carpet shampooers are only good for touch up cleanings. They do not get out the down deep soils. Which would not work for you in this case. If you purchase one, be sure to get one that heats up the water, Bissell does make an alright product. The rental ones are a bit better, but still are not able to get down deep and do not pull as much water out as they should, leaving moisture in the carpet that can cause bacteria. Consider having your carpet professionally cleaned at least once a year, and use your own carpet shampooer for touch ups.

- the stains go into the pad.....and when you shampoo it, it only removes the surface stains, then the stains in the padding seep up through the carpet.. you can forget kool-aid stains ever coming ouy of carpet.. you can replace the pad, then shampoo the carpet yourself. or put tile or laminate flooring in the room where the children are.laminate flooring has come down in price.

- Place paper towel over the wax that needs to be removed, then, run a medium-heated iron over the wax and it will be picked up by the paper towel. You'll need to do this quite a few times to get all of it up, but after you do, it'll look good as new :)

- The worms are probably the larval form of the carpet beetles. Routine vacuuming effectively removes carpet beetles which are already present, as well as hair and lint which could support future infestations. Particular attention while vacuuming should be paid to the edges of carpets, along baseboards, underneath furniture and similar quiet areas where carpet beetles prefer to feed. Insecticide applications directed into infested areas are often useful as a supplement to good housekeeping. Products containing active ingredients such as chlorpyrifos, permethrin, bendiocarb and allethrin are effective against carpet beetles. Sprays may be applied to carpets (especially beneath and along the edge adjacent to the baseboard), underneath furniture and other likely areas of infestation where prolonged contact with humans is unlikely. Clothing and bedding should not be sprayed and should be removed before treatment. Control of carpet beetles requires patience and a thorough inspection to locate all sources of infestation. Elimination of widespread, ongoing infestations may require the services of a professional pest control operator.
