They're probably returns or overstock from Costco or WalMart so I would trust them to be reliable and not used much. Even if its a hundred bucks more, it will last forever where most other machines seem to break after 2 years. The refurbished machines also have a 5 year warranty just like the brand new Rug Doctors. Buying a refurbished machine is probably a great way to save some cash on a machine that usually runs $500-600 and I trust the brand all day long.

Carpet tiles are good for young kids because you can REPLACE them. Accidents happen, kids are messy and getting someone to clean your carpet is expensive. This also gives you the option to change the flooring when your daughter gets older if she wants something different. Picking up carpet tiles is cheaper then hiring someone to take out old carpet and install new.
