- Q: Furniture stores do mention if they use 100% leather or leather-match, however our particular sofa set mentions the following, finest leather combined with the best designed leather match. I don't really care even if it is leather match, it is important for the material to be long lasting. I hope its not vinyl or anything. How can I tell what material they use in leather match? and How can I tell if any real leather is used or not?
- Leather match is vinyl. The outside back and arms will be made of leather match and the contact areas will be leather. I doubt they would mix the 'finest' leather with leather match!!!! Leather cannot be sold as leather if it is not and there has been a call to ban the use of the word leather in conjunction with other terms like 'leather match' as it is designed to mislead the customer.
- Q: I just purchased a micro-fiber sofa, and the salesman claims it is stain resistant? I feel like I should protect it anyway with some kind of scotchguard. Does anyone have any experience with micro-fiber? Will scotchguard be a safe thing to do? Is it necessary?
- It all depends on the type of stain ... I have three microfiber sofas and I treated two of them with Scotchguard and one (the first one I bought) I did not. Most spills or stains come up from the sofas with a bit of resolve and a gentle rub but the sofa I did not scotchguard does have one grease stain on it that I could not get to come up. I would say better safe than sorry and invest in a can of Scotchguard ... just remember to let it dry completely before using the couch again.

- Yes, lots of pretty throw pillows will add color to the room. Just about any color you like. A nice lamp with a shade on it in one of the sofa pillow colors. A bowl of oranges on a table will add color. Orange accents would look good with the beige, white, and light brown carpet.

- Q: My family has had 2 microfiber couches for close to 2 years and they are light tan color, so with pets and kids, they are starting to look pretty shabby. I have tried Resolve Multi-Fabric and used that to wash the cushions, and it worked at first, until someone spilled a drink on the couch and I tried to get it out. Now it doesn't appear to be coming out too well and there are what appears to be streaks from the cloth I used (even though it was a white one).Does anyone have any ideas on how to clean the sofa cushions so that they will look cleaner without streaks? Or do I have to get it professionally cleaned?
- try getting a grounding cable and attach it to something metal on the frame of the furniture and then down to something solid on floor, past the carpet and into the wood or concrete or what ever is solid and connects to the foundation below. that way the static has a chance to discharge from the furniture and to the ground. and thus helping to reduce its attraction of the particles. like the dust, lint, and hair. other than that maybe some sort of cover, but that defeats the purpose of having micro fiber covered sofa. good luck hope that helps.
- Q: I have one of those crappy ikea beds with the pine slats that hold up the single mattress. Instead of tossing it, I would like to convert it into a sofa. If I can chop it up and make it work it would be a fun and rewarding project. Any plans or suggestions would be great. Thanks my people!
- mrriskey007 Great idea. Most of the work is already done. Chop it so that you have the correct porportion back to seat. Move the back's legs to the position for the seat's rear legs. Consider adding a middle set of legs. Obtain a new spar that will run the sofa's length and it will be the seat's rear frame. Install, maybe, the middle leg to it. The back's connection to the seat's rear might be as simple as a 1/2 thick piece of plywood used as a gusset. Picture a 45 degree x 90 degree triangle with the short leg fastened to the seat rear and the long leg fastened to the back. Size the triangle for best strength. Adjust the 90 degree angle for the best back to seat angle. Glue and screw seat frame to gusset as well as the back. Gusset will also help to contain seat's cushions. Will need two of these, one for each end of the sofa (duh). Might consider one for the center for additional strength of the the back to seat (plus the middle leg if needed). Whalla -- done. Sofa arm rests at its ends are simple to add too. Select a piece of stock that will be the sofa's seat front leg extention as an upright for the front of the arm rest. Select stock for horizontal part of the arm. Consider using a gusset to connect those to pieces. Connect the arm to the rear of the sofa which is the back frame. - Q: besides the huge price difference is there a different feel? Ive heard the look is so similar its hard to determine which is which but does one feel softer or more flexible than the other? My sister in law has a leather sofa that is kind of stiff, I want to avoid that if possible.
- MY DuraBlend (or bonded leather) sofa from Ashley furniture started peeling after 1 yr. This is not covered under the warranty as it is considered wear and tear. Feels great and looks amazing but after just moderate use it has the potential to start peeling. It was even peeling in odd areas I would not recommend this material for sofas.
- Q: i just bought a leather sofa,and there is a stain on it right underneath where my dog lays(he lays on a blanket on the couch)its a circle about 2 inches in diameter.i dont know what it is ,but im assuming its a bodily fluid or saliva.does anyone know how to get it out?

- Research the different types of leather tanning; this and the type of surface will make a difference in how well it ages. Another thing to keep in mind is the construction of the furniture; research that also so you know what items are important.
