- That will look very nice, but add other color to your living room also. Add a blue chair, or a light tan chair to accent the leather sofa. Add some colorful throw pillows on the sofa, and other decor and accents. Just don't make the room dark with to much dark furniture, or it gets depressing. Allow plenty of light into the room to give a warm feeling.

- You have to wait until you are offered a job on base from what I understand. There's no way around it. Here is the link for jobs: ask.afpc.randolph.af.mil/ Just go to job search and then pick Japan as the country. Maybe there's something open that your qualified for. P.S. Just wondering...........If your wife is Japanese, why do you need SOFA status to stay in the country for awhile? Haven't you applied for a spouse visa? ==================== ADD: I'm not sure I understand. If your wife is Japanese, then you would be eligible for a spouse visa through the Japanese government. It shouldn't be too hard to get one. SOFA status wouldn't even be an issue with that, in my opinion. But hopefully someone with more experience in Japan spouse visas will answer your question for you. ADD #2!: I understand your question now. I'm a dummy sometimes! (^-^) Your saying that if you have a spouse visa then you would be considered like a local national and therefore you would not be eligible for certain jobs that may require a security clearance, etc.........I'm not sure how to answer that for you though, the only thing I can suggest is contacting the Civilian Personnel office of the nearest military base to you and they should be able to answer that. - A rip certainly can be fixed, its what kept me in business for the last 11yrs ;-) You can go to a professional ( 4 inches is a long rip for a first timer) to have it repaired, or have the panel replaced. To give you an idea a rip like that might cost $275 or so to fix and the panel around $375. So if the piece is a quality piece ( all leather, no vinyl, not bycast) it could b worth while. Companies like mine can custom match difficult leather if your local upholsterer can get a match- we refinish leather to a sample you send

I have tried using wintergreen alcohol and I have tried using distilled vinegar but the smell is still there does anyone have and suggestions for me?
- Borax or Nature's Miracle both break down the acid in urine which is what causes the smell. The problem is that it probably soaked into the cushion. You can make a paste with water and Borax, agitate it into the stain, let it dry and vacuum it up, but if it is already in the batting of the cushion the smell will return over time. Nature's Miracle will probably work better in this case because it is a liquid and can soak into the cushion. I would suggest getting a steam cleaner and loading the Nature's Miracle in it or if you pour it into the stain, use a wet/dry vac to suck it up afterward. You can find Nature's Miracle at the discounters and pet stores.

- That depends on the size, quality, upholstery, etc... A good quality American made carved wood sofa can run as high as $15,000. A mid-priced one could run between $2500-$4000 The cheapest molded resin sofa China would probably start in the $800 range. I'm a proponent of real wood, domestic construction, and 8-way hand-tied frames. They will cost more, but you will never replace them.
