- You have to detect and eradicate. The actual pee area might be greater than you think, or there might be more than one peed area. You need a UV flashlight to detect all of the pee areas. Be sure to do it in a dark room or at night with all the lights off. Prepare to get grossed out. Eradication requires more than deodorizing and actual destruction. Enzymatic cleaners are the trick. I use Urine Gone but others work too. Just look for enzymatic action on the package.

- Q: I recently purchased a microfiber sofa and declined the fabric protection - I guess that's the first mistake. I've had the sofa a little over a week and there are four-five huge blue/black spots on the sofa!!! No one has spilled anything and we can not figure out where these stains are coming from. For instance, I fell asleep on the sofa last night and when I woke up this morning, there was a huge blue spot under the space I sat. I was wearing grey pants so I can't figure out where the blue is coming from. There was also a spot under where my feet were and I was wearing white socks so its not my clothing fabric bleeding onto the sofa. I am at a complete loss! My cover doesn't come off to wash and I don't know how to get rid of these spots but I'm furious after paying so much money for a sofa that these spots are showing up, seemingly out of nowhere. - I would immediately contact the store where you purchased your sofa. It sounds like perhaps they have covered a black lining with your microfiber and when you put pressure on it or perhaps perspire a little the black is bleeding through. In any event I would advise them you wish to have the sofa replaced. Money is too hard to come by!

- I did this with a leather sleeper sofa once. I don't think I'd try it with a fabric one; there is just too much fiber to trap the smell. First, I left it outside in the hot summer sun for several days to air out (sunlight also kills odors). Then I pulled out all the stuffing from the cushions, sprayed them with Febreeze, let it dry in the sun, repeated the Febreeze bath twice more, and restuffed the cushions. Even still, there is a faint residual odor. You may never be able to get enough of the smell out of it, and if anyone in your household has allergies or asthma, this sofa may affect their breathing.
- Q: I have an expensive high end sofa. The piping around the cushions are beginning to show a little wear. The sofa is medium brown color/ top grain leather. How can I 'stain' the piping to restore the color to the rest of the sofa? The piping of the leather is still in excellent condition, but the color has worn off.
- annie is correct. But something you could try is a leather DYE. That's how the color is obtained originally. I have no idea where to buy it, but a local upholsterer, familiar with leather may know, or have a better, safer idea.
- Q: I have an ikea klippan sofa, and i'm getting the 'natural' cover for it. My other sofa is an ikea ektorp, and the only new cover i can afford for this is the white one. Will the 2 sofas look good together? Or should i get the klippan white cover instead of beige?I can't picture them together to see if they'll match! I prefer the cream/beige to white covers though. Could i maybe dye the ektorp cover to match the natural beige klippan do you think?Any help would be great. Thank you!
