- Q:I need to buy a leather sofa or sectional but I am having a problem figuring out what color will go with my room. In addition to the walls I have new carpeting that has light browns and golds in it. Dark brown seemed like a good choice but my issue is the recliners.
- Work off the burgundy recliners. You can also go with a burgundy sofa. You can put a splash of color on the sofa with colorful pillows. My choice would be the burgundy sofa rather than the dark brown. Think the brown would be too dark for the room. Remember the throw pillows can have a beige, yellow, burgundy or what every colors you choose to brighten things up. That way everything would tie in with your carpeting and wall colors. Good Luck
- Q:A friend has offered me a sofa - can't take it with her on a move. It is only a year old and very nice. BUT, she has 6 dogs. And all the problems that come with that. They have had mites, fleas, I am sure they have probably peed on the sofa, etc. I am wondering if there is anything you can use on a leather sofa - either store bought or made-at-home that I can use to clean and disinfect the leather. - Well, there are many ways to clean it, but I don't know if there is a good fix for this. You can clean it with a leather cleaner and then set a bomb inside/under it for the fleas/mites/ticks, but I don't know about any smells that might remain after that. It's a start though.

- well there is this stuff called odo ban it removes odors , ad kills germs , it says it is euclalyptus scented but it smells so good , we use it on our sofa ,and beds .. o can get this at wal mart it is cheaper than febreeze and works much better as well

- Q:Couple of months ago I asked about my dogs peeing on sofa. Got several answers back; all said to crate train them, train them to go outside etc. The problem is that they are trained to go outside and they won't pee in their 'crate'. However, I have one sofa that they tend to pee on even if they just came in from outside. They are nearly 18 months old, sisters, and are Chihuahuas. I'm not even sure which one does it! - Have the dogs been checked by a vet? Ruled out possible urinary tract infection, crystals, etc.? When dogs are eliminating inappropriately, the first thing to do is a vet check-up. They may associate peeing outdoors with pain (from infection, etc.), and try eliminating in other places. It's likely that one dog is doing the peeing on the couch-take a fresh urine sample (less than 24 hours old) from each dog to the vet (marked, of course) for urinalysis.

- I bought a used off-white leather sofa off of craigslist in 2008. It was very dirty. What I did - and in retrospect, this might not be a safe way to clean leather - but it worked GREAT for me: I used Dawn Dish detergent. I put some Dawn Dish Detergent in a pan of warm water, soaked a cloth - wrung it out good and then wiped the sofa - I wiped with a dry towel immediately after wiping with the wet cloth. Amazing, the process easily removed all of the grime on the sofa and it still looks GREAT today. I did condition the leather every 3 months or so in 2008-2009 using a leather conditioning product that I found at walmart - i don't remember the name of the product - but it was about $8.00 for a small jar. The leather conditioner helped make the sofa softer. I didn't experience any harmful effects from using the Dawn Deteregent - and I was careful in not saturating the sofa with the soapy water. - Q:They seem very comfortable, but those thin wooden slats and those soft plastic hinges that keep them together don't inspire much trust. Is this a sofa bed only for occasional sleeping and not recommended for other activities(wink)?
- A friend of mine had an IKEA sofa with cheap slats like you describe that broke when a larger person (about 250 lbs) sat on it. On the other hand, I have an IKEA bed with much stronger slats that was built like a tank and will probably last forever. Bottom line - if it looks too wimpy to do the job it probably is.
