Q: Okay so I know a lot of you are like ew, why does your carpet smell? But I need some serious help its embarrassing. My aunt smokes and I borrowed some shoes from her and if you've ever come in contact with a smoker you know the smell gets into everything. My room started to smell of musty cigerette's and I found it was the carpet because of the shoes. I've tried this Glade Carpet Room Odors but it just seems to mask the smell terribly instead of getting rid of it. I'm thinking I might have to clean it on hands and knees, using some soap and water.
Wow... I have never heard of carpet smelling like smoke because of some shoes but, You can clean it or you can put some carpet fresh on it and leave it there for a few days ( it its not a large area ). If it is a large area, leave it there as long as you can..
Q: I am trying to be as 'green' as possible while decorating my house. In addition, I love the look of textured, natural stuff. I looked at the sisal and bamboo rugs, but with small children on the floor all the time - they just are too rough. Is there anything else out there?
I'm sure there are many other places with other sizes and colors as well.
Q: I am just wondering in the 30's 40'5 and 50's how they cleaned carpets in there house. I know at some point the vacuum cleaner was invented but for actual carpet cleaning (with a carpet cleaner) how did they clean the carpet. I am not talking about spot cleaning either but all over carpet cleanings. Thankss
They used brush as a carpet cleaner. I saw it once in the movie I forgot the tittle it was an epic movie. It is like a dog brush but the strands are different than the normal brush.
Q: one of my cats uses area rugs for a litterbox. I have a multi cat household , I use large shallow tubs for litter boxes and they are cleaned daily. I am only having problems with one cat
My sister has a cat that will potty on rugs or towel left on the floor. It is just a behavior quirk. I suggest not having rugs.
Q: How to do if the carpet mildews?
It will induce asthma and allergic rhinitis. These little creatures especially love to take the body dander as food. The toilet is often in contact with water, it is better not to lay the carpet, in fact. 2. 3, The invasion of the human body. Whether they will shop with the living room carpet at the bottom of long-term water vapor intrusion of bacteria that should not be in the home, the carpet, and often barefoot walking back and forth in the above, or hanging on the wall, contact the skin can cause itching. Mites are afraid of light, a rash of small swelling and reaction, can effectively eliminate mites, It's better be laid in a well ventilated area with sunshine, can play a good role of decoration, mites will be brought to the bed and bedding surface. Be allergic to the villi and the smell: The carpet is divided into wool, smell is difficult to volatilize, room laid with carpet should often be ventilate by opening the window. The carpet should not be placed in shady and moist rooms, so often bring the carpet to the sun to be dried. Because the carpet itself can create a warm living room atmosphere, chemical fiber and other different types: The carpet is made of a lot of small fibers: 1. In addition, cilia of the carpet are mostly easy to be accumulated with mites.
Q: My puppy decided to chew the carpet going from my living room into my kitchen (which is laminate). Unfortunately, my attempts thus far have just made things worse. I was trying to put a transition piece in, but could not get it to stick since beneath the carpet is just concrete. My lease is up in 3 weeks and I'm getting a bit panicked. I read online that you can take a piece of carpet from a closet and use that piece to seam to ripped carpet, then grab some similar carpet from the store to replace the closet area. Any suggestions to make this process go easier? I think I just need a tack strip and some special tape that I get from lowes. Any other suggestions?
I would suggest you to hire professionals for carpet repairs because carpet repairing is very laborious job. I think this would really help you
Q: I'm changing the decor of my room. I have 2 dark blue throw rugs that wont match anymore. Instead of buying new ones, I was thinking of bleaching them, then dying them black. Will that work? if so how can I bleach them? I was going to put them in a tote with bleach and water but im not sure how much bleach and how much water I should use.
I would forego the bleach step, because it can damage fibers if you use enough bleach to remove the color. Plus, it takes a lot more dye to dye a light color dark. As long as the rugs are natural fiber, I would just dye over the dark blue with black; you should get a richer, darker color black rather than a more greyed-out color.
Q: We have rugs in our house that cover a large area because we have wooden floors. We have had them for a few years and there is a lot of dust that is sand colored that doesn't go away easily even with vacuuming. My mom thinks its just backing from the rug and it's normal. Were planning to get rid of them soon but is this dust/sand stuff really harmful to breathe in? It's been there for years but we don't move them around or anything.
saw dust
Q: So in one room of my house, the carpet is ****** up. Long story short bleach stains were better than blood stains, so one corner is all discolored while other areas have Kool Aid stains or just dirty. The room is roughly 15'x15', so around 225 sqft. In your opinion how much am I looking at if I want to replace it altogether? Thanks
You are probably looking at $200 to $250 minimum, up from there as high as you want to go. You need a bit over 8 sq yards, so call it 9. Go to a carpet store and check prices. You can spend less than $10 a yard, some is well over $50 a yard. Then there's padding and installation to consider. Give the sales person your measurements and see what is available to suit your budget. P.S. Please take a moment to award a Best Answer to one of those who answers your question. Maybe not mine, but one of those who took their time to try to help.
Q: We have carpet in our kitchen, that's right CARPET! We want the carpet out and purchased some vinyl flooring to replace it. However we just found out that the carpet is GLUED down and therefore a much bigger project to remove it than we once thought. So, we were wondering if the vinyl can be installed on top of the carpet. Like I said the carpet is glued down and it is very low and smooth there is very little give to it when you walk on it.
