Q: i want to knit or crochet a rectangular rug for my room not too big but not too small. ive looked on the internet but the ones i like are too hard and the rest are nothing but granny squares or look like over sized doilies =( please help me find classy yet kinda simple patterns.. pictures would help: One of the problems with substituting other yarn for rug yarn is that rug yarn is generally more resilient because you need to be able to walk on it, however, I have done some latch-hook work and have found that chunky 16 ply yarns are similar in thickness to 6 ply rug yarn and are therefore a reasonable substitute. 3 or 4 strands of knitting yarn may also give you a similar thickness and may work for you purposes but won't have the same resilience as proper rug yarn.

Thanks, and could you also include some points about the differant types of rugs and what each are best for and when you should use them eg. winter rugs, summer rugs, cavasson (i think thats it:)), ect. thanks! xx: A okorder / The higher the denier the tougher the rug. 600 denier will tear easier and be less water proof then a 1200 plus denier rug. I have the last one shown (Defender) is a great rug for really cold frosty winters. Tough denier and no neck rug attached, which I prefer for my horses that are not in much work. In spring I then switch it for a lighter rug, which they usually wear for a month or so before I leave it off completely. But please remember, even if you switch to a lighter rug, it will still need to come off each morning if it is warm and during their heavy moulting in the first month of spring.

Q: Our small office currently has tiles (vinyl, I think). I wonder if it would be beneficial to have floor carpet installed. What are the pros/cons of having that carpet put in? We'll stay here at least a year or two. Every desk (4 right now, will be adding 2 more) has a laptop or computer, monitor. All workstations connect by WiFi so it's just the power cords that are unsightly. We have guests/clients visit the office less than 5 times a month.
