Q:I have an 1985 cadillac fleetwood hearse and the water pump is shot to hell. where do get a good cheep one.: You guys are all dumb please, especially you Kenny. Your a shop manager and these are the parts you recommend?? HA. I thought that was hilarious... theres a difference between good parts and cheap parts... I thought you were smart until you came out with AUTOZONE WILL HAVE WHAT YOU NEED. Do yourself a favor and stay away from cheap chinese autopart stores. I work in a shop and we have people come in ALL THE TIME with their broken water pumps from them. Spend the extra money and get yourself an AMERICAN MADE quality part. Your local mechanic should be able to help you out with that. Good Luck, and don't believe everything you hear.

Q:I was vacuuming up water from my basement I assumed was from the rain, suddenly water started spraying out of a blue pump at the base of my furnace, don't know what the pump does or why its spraying but its making an awful mess.: Blue pump, usually found on the floor near the furnace (sometimes mounted where plenum meets the furnace frame) is a condensate pump. One of the products of combustion is water. This water is drained from the ventor motor (a motor which runs and sets a artificial draft inside the combustion chamber) to a drain nearby or a electric pump which then pumps the water over a longer distance to a remote drain. If the pump's discharge outlet gets plugged from dirt the result is usually the mess you see. Remove the cover plate of the pump housing, clean it out and run a wire with a small rag attached as a snake through the tube to drain. There is usually some type of float switch inside the pump housing so make sure it is free to move. Check for operation by pouring some tap water in it and move the float switch to on (up) One final note and this is very important. If the pump or tube to drain is filled up with a crud that resembles paste, call your local trusted HVAC tech for furnace service. This condition can be an early sign of heat exchanger failure and is a major safety concern for your family

Q:I installed a new water pump on a Cherokee straight-6 engine, the upper radiator hose is not heating up and the engine is starting to make a funny noise. The thermostat is new and was working fine before. The coolant reservoir is full and no more coolant will drain to radiator / engine. Anyone know why waterpump is not circulating coolant?: I'm unfamiliar with the workings of that engine. Have you bled all of the air out? It wouldn't be the first time a new part is faulty. Don't assume that just because it is new, that it is working. Unlikely as it is, it is possible that the new water pump is faulty.

Q:Hey for the past month my car has been leaking coolant, making a wierd noise when i drive it, and saying low coolant when its filled to the top.my husband took it out to get gas this morning and it stopped on him and had to be towed to the mechanicthe mechanic said its the water pump and somethin about anti freeze and this cost almost 300 bucks with parts and laborim just wanting to know if a water pump does indeed cause issues like this before we dish out this kinda money!!! btw its a 96 chevy luminathanks: It's not will a bad water pump cause your car to overheat, it's a bad water pump WILL cause your car to overheat. It circulates the heated water from your engine block to the radiator to be cooled and back to the engine. Stop moving the heat away from the engine, overheated engine. A bad water pump can have several symptoms. There can be a noisy, ratteling sound coming from the pump when the car is running, there can be water actually leaking out of the pump, or in a worst case, the pump will freeze up and throw the fan belt. The water pump has a metal impeller spinning inside of the housing. Over time, the bearings or sleeve can wear out something gets inside of the pump and damages the impeller blades. There is no proper way to repair a water pump, it must be replaced. Like all moving parts in a vehicle, they will wear out over time. If you can't tell if it is leaking or damaged, I recommend taking it to a mechanic and letting them take a look. They can tell you if it needs to be replaced and (hold onto your wallet) how much it will cost.

Q:i'm trying to make a small water fountain, i have a tiny motor that i can use, but i dont know how to use it to make the water go up :( haha heeeelpthanks in advance:): I doubt that your motor is waterproof. You would do better to just purchase one of the many fountain pumps all ready available at many home improvement centers or online. They are water proof and have the pump and motor all in one enclosure.

Q:I recently got the water pump replaced on a 99 Oldsmobile Intrigue GL (3.5L V6), and ever since the temperature gage seems to be running higher...between half way and the 3rd line, where before it was replaced it never got above the second line. It is doing this when I slow down and stop at lights. Once I get going the temperature does drop. Is this normal, or did they do something wrong?: If you had it done at a shop take it back. Alot things can make a car run hotter. Could be as simple as an air pocket in the cooling system or a leaking head/intake gasket. Did you over heat the engine when the water pump went out? If so the temp sending unit could be bad.

Q:I have a 1994 Plymoth Grand voyager and it is loosing anti freeze it was a little leak now I can't see it leaking but it is empty could it be the water pump? It does get hot now. what other things happen when your water pump is going out does the heater not get hot anymore?: poss there is a pipe that runs under the intake! with seals on the end!
