Q: my sump pump keeps filling with sewer water. i cant figure out why or where it could be coming from. and the smell is awful.
A sump pump is designed for use in the basements of homes whose water tables make them prone to flooding. Many basements are actually below the water table. This means that should the integrity of the walls or floor of the basement be breached, the basement could flood. This would result in thousands of dollars of water damage to anything in the basement, as well as the loss of anything irreplaceable that's stored there. Even should no breach occur, a great deal of moisture and condensation forms over of time within such spaces. Typically the water drains into a hole in the basement floor called a sump pit. When the water level in the hole rises to a certain level, the sump pump engages and removes the water. A pedestal sump pump, for example, has a long rod that extends down into the sump pit. At the top of the rod sits an electrical motor. Beside the rod is an inflated plastic bubble such as the kind one finds in flush toilets, attached to a pressure switch. When the water level rises beyond the bubble, the bubble is buoyed upward and activates the pressure switch. The switch turns on the electric motor, which sucks the water out of the sump pit and passes it through a connecting PVC pipe. This pipe may lead outward into the soil away from the house's foundation, or it may be connected to the wastewater system that connects to the house's drains and toilets. In either case, the water is pumped out automatically.
Q: Who can tell me such water pump medium flow direction should be what kind of, from left to right, or from right to left, is low into the higher?
In the picture, to the right is the entrance, the left is the exit, the water pump inlet channel section area generally will be bigger than the export.
Q: Suppose the liquid temperature range for the water pump is -20 .. 90 °C. However it should be worked under liquid temperature upto 180 °C. For this, what has to to be done?
YOu need to provide sufficient inlet pressure so that cavitation does not occur.
Q: is there a surface water pump that can pump water from a 1000 foot well?
If what you mean with surface water pumps are those pumps mounted on the ground to distinguish them from submersible pumps , yes there are surface pumps that can pump water from a 1000 ft well. These are the so called jet pumps or deep well pumps wherein part of the output water is returned back to the bottom of the well pipe through the space between the outer pipe casing and the inner pipe and passed through a venturi opening to create an upward water jet which will push more water upward.
Q: My water pump keeps getting quite hot after each use. Everything seems to be working properly, except I think that the heat may cause it to burn out and that would cause a huge problem. My pump pulls water from a ground level water tank and pushes water up three flats to the part of my house used for living quarters. The pressure setting is set to cut out at 40psi and cut in at 25psi. What can I do myself before calling in expensive experts?
Probably needs new motor brushes.
Q: can a water pump pumping out air instead of water?
It depends on the type of pump. Some pumps can others will burn out. Carpet cleaner type suction will happily cope with both air and water, old fashioned hand operated lift pumps do as well. Bilge pumps etc do not like running dry and will have to be reprimed to suck water if the get an air lock.
Q: It stops and every few minutes and when it stops, it sounds like water is running.
Your pump switch's on when the demand for water is required. The pump, pumps water at a certain rate of P.S.I (Pounds per Square inch) and depending on brand of pump will maintain a standard of pressure through out the house. If for any reason the pressure drops, the pump will automatically kick in to maintain pressure and volume of water required by it. A leaking faucet, or a toilet that is constantly running will drop pressure slowly. Check all your plumbing fixtures, including hot water heaters/storage heaters, boilers, furnaces, and any item/fixture the requires water to see if it is leaking, or passing water into a drain constantly. If problem persists contact a plumber. If the pump starts to labor to much, or starts to run constantly if may burn out rendering the pump useless.
Q: All of a sudden I have no water coming to the house/anywhere from the pump/well outside. It's a newer well, good water quantity (Florida...no dry up problems), no sand in water. I'm new to this house and don't know much about the pump stuff. Is there something I should look at or switch on/off. The breaker is ok. Help, I need a shower! :) Oh, there were about 15 ants around some box, but it didn't look connected to the pump...it's a box to the pool filter thing.

Q: A pump is said to be capable of pumping water up to 100 meters, but I don't want to confirm that by actually putting up a very long pipe to that height. I know that pressure is related to height, so putting pressure at the output end of the pump would simulate different heights. Any suggestions how I can rig a contraption to do this? Thanks.
Install a pressure gauge at the pumps diischarge line and note that p=wh. H =p/w, H =p{(144)/62.4}/3.28 meters Pressure expected therefore in psi, is p={62.4/144}3.28 p=14.9 psi A pressure gauge of 0 to 50 psig range would be sufficient to indicate the expected pressure.
Q: I have a Chevy Express Van 3500, i believe that the water pump is leaking, how long would it last before major breakage?
a rebuilt waterpump is cheap, but if you need to use the vehicle, use stop leak in the radiator before you drive
