Q: I am having new white carpeting installed in my house. Curious how others who have white flooring keep it clean.
Therefore, keeping a carpet clean by preventative maintenance and protection alongside a good cleaner will make your carpet last for years to come. Hope this helps you out, aboveaveragejoe
Q: I ordered an area rug online but the dimensions are a little off...I'm wondering if I can just cut it to make it fit? If so, how would I go about doing this so that it will cut evenly and all the way through (what kinds of tools, etc could I use)? Also, any suggestions on how I can keep the ends from fraying after its cut? Thanks so much!!
I live in Phoenix and I took a large piece of carpet out of an unused bedroom and to it to Home Depot and gave them the dimensions I wanted it to be. They cut it and bound the edges beautifully. I now use it under my dining room table. Call around to carpet dealers. Don't try it yourself.
Q: What is the role of the carpet in living room?
The carpet belongs to luxury decoration: The utility model has the advantages that the utility model can give people a warm and grade visual perception, and can make people feel comfortable in the sense of touch, and the mood is relaxed, and creating a warm and comfortable living environment! The disadvantage is that it is not resistant to dirt and worms, it is better to clean up 1-2 times a week, once a month to clean; if you want to buy, a proposal with two in order to change. Its distribution should depends on their own decoration style, It's better to find the designer who designs for your house decoration; if you decorate by yourself, you should consult a friend who understand the color matching!
Q: Apparently I put too much woolite on our carpet, and it won't come out. Ive tried wet rags but it just keeps foaming. Is there an easy way to get this soap out?
Vinegar and just water. I (my thoughtful husband) did the same thing and days later, steam cleaning with only water, it s the best that has worked.
Q: whats the diffrence between carpets and rugs?
Carpets are what's in the upscale homes. Rugs is what us poor folks got.
Q: Is there need to lay carpet after laying floor heating floor?
Very soft; under normal circumstances, in fact, there is no need to lay a mat on it, it's needed in every family , if you feel it's unecessary, you can choose not to lay it. after all, it is just the floor. actually, that depends on your needs
Q: Silly Putty dried on my carpet! How do I get it off???
Step 1: Scrape any excess Silly Putty off the carpet with a butter knife or spatula. Step 2: Spray WD 40 onto rag and gently work it into the spot with remaining Silly Putty. Step 3: Allow it to stand for 20 minutes. Step 4: Gently blot up the area, removing as much of the WD 40 as possible. Step 5: Apply small amount of alcohol to a clean corner of the rag and gently blot any remaining WD 40. If needed, follow up with a small amount of mild soap and warm water. Blot dry with clean, dry paper towel or rag. Step 6: If the stain is particularly stubborn, repeat above steps and gently use a toothbrush to get any remaining particles out.
Q: Refreshing my memory been a while so wondering how to lay carpet with a seam. Don't have enough carpet so have some extra carpet that looks the same that I need to use so wanting to lay the carpet with a seam so all the carpet will look as one.
Practice - practice - practice First, the carpet pieces all need the fibers going in the same direction....if you can't do that, it won't matter how skilled you are at seaming a carpet, the piles running different dirctions will stand out. Clean cuts - you need a clean cut along the seam, on BOTH pieces to get them to look good when they are joined. Two kinds of tape - adhesive, and 'carpet' tape (which needs a seaming iron). BEFORE the carpet is stretched for the room, the adjacent pieces of carpet need to be joined. This involves making a straight, clean cut on both edges - this cut should match identically. I achieve this by overlapping the two pieces, and using a straight edge, cut through both layers at once. (You need a VERY sharp blade). Next, apply the seaming tape to the underside of the carpet. I prefer to use the professional grade carpet tape, and I own all the necessary carpet tools to do this. If you do not own them, they can be rented from a local business that rents tools and equipment. I wouldnt make the investment in tools for one room of carpet. If you are using carpet tape, cut it to fit the length of the seam (actually allow it to extend beyond the ends of the seam, for a couple of inches) Plug in the seaming iron, allow it to heat up, and then place it UNDER the carpet, but ON the tape. As the seaming iron heats up the tape, slide it along the length of the seam, pulling the carpet edges together behind it, and press them firmly into the tape. (A roller is handy for this) Do NOT overlap the edges, do NOT allow them to pucker...this is why a good clean cut is so important. Allow the tape to cool, and then you can stretch the carpet and trim it out. Have Fun
Q: I already have my carpet and padding. We purchased a whole house of like new, but used carpet at a great price for our LR and BR's and we have carpet padding. We planned to pay to have the carpet installed, but we are now completely out of money and paying someone is not an option. I know it will not be as nice or last as long, but I am wondering if we can glue the carpet down? It's just a regular mid-grade plush carpet. I am also wondering if this can be done with carpet padding or can it only be glued directly to the sub-floor? I am trying to figure out if I could staple down the carpet padding and somehow glue the carpet to the padding? Any help/suggestions on gluing down carpet with or without padding would be appreciated. Thanks!

Q: I need to replace my 45 year old carpet. It is showing it's age. But one thing that has never been done is having it re stretched. Not one wrinkle. It lays as flat and tight as the day it was put in. So this beings up the question. quot;Should a properly installed wall to wall carpet ever need to be re stretched?quot; I have noticed many carpets in newer homes that are all wrinkled. And many people I've talked with after installing carpet need to have it stretched again, sometimes more then twice. Is this an inherent problem with what the carpets are made of now days? By the way my carpet is wool.
As your 1 st poster stated, even the best of carpet or the best of installed carpet could possible need a restretch. Its rare but it does happen. You had a good carpet in wool and the backing when that was made is much different than the ones made today. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar. gL
