Thank you.: Try to dampen the area and then brush up with a hair brush. Having had your furniture in place for such a long time it's likely there will always be an indentation there. I think you're already aware that having a carpet cleaning machine would be much better...but try using a scrub brush with oxy-clean solution....or using white vinegar and baking soda solution. (Vinegar disinfects and may help to eliminate the urine odor). You could try this combination first....and then go over it using the oxy-clean solution to clean more. After carpet is dried, regular sprinkling of baking soda all over it and letting it sit, then vacuuming it up will help to take out some odor, too. (But if pets have been regularly going on the carpet, there are stains all the way down to the floorboard and carpet is ruined, really). Just do the best you can in this situation, okay? See if you can stress the importance of the pets being able to go outside to do their business. Pet stores sell products that are like pet grass mats where they can go on instead of having accidents on carpets. (Check a pet store online and see if your parents would get those). Pet stores also sell cleaning products, too, if they want to inquire about having some on hand for the future.
