- Q:This is one of those sofa sleepers. I have pulled on the frame near the end, and on the frame near the back of the couch, and I can feel the entire couch lift when I pull. I have never owned one of these but I am in a hotel right now and with it being Christmas Eve in Italy, no one is answering the phone at the front desk. Any suggestions??
- Sofa beds usually have a pull in the center of the front of the sofa. There is usually a handle to do so. It's the only way I have ever seen a sofa bed pull out and it goes back the same way.
- Q:I'm having this trouble with my 10 month old. She discovered a week ago that she can climb into the sofa. And I can not do anything else but to watch her. The second I turn around....she is up again. Should I remove the sofa from the family room? Where are we gon'na seat then? If that was the solution no house in the country would have a sofa by now..........what to do????
- This is a new discovery for her. You need to encourage safe behavior. When she gets up there, you need to turn her around show her back touches the back of the sofa. When it is time to get down...you need to move her so that she knows to lay on her belly and let her feet down first. Yes it is scary as a new mom....you just have to show her how to do it safely until she gets it. I know you want to protect her from everything but really our job is to teach them how to look out for themselves. This is just the beginning. You can't remove everything that is dangerous out of her life...you need to teach her what to do about it.The only things I removed from my living room for the sake of my children were burning candles. Even knick-knacks should stay in their place so that you can teach her that they are not to touch. Believe me this will come in handy when you visit some one who has not baby proofed their house. - Q:Also for a rocker recliner (chair), is there usually a lock mechanism to stop the rocking?
- All depends on the sofa. We had one that had a both recliners on one end and a pull out bed on the other. It was a sectional. If it's a smaller sofa, probably just the two ends. And I don't think a rocker recliner will have a mechanism to keep it from rocking... It just won't rock while it's reclined.
- Q:I'm considering down-sizing my living area in the hopes of gaining more floor space and was thinking about doing away with my bed and chair and getting a sleeper sofa in their place.I've always slept on a bed with a box spring and mattress and was wondering if any one had any suggestions, experience, or opinions on the modern sleeper sofa. - well my dog used to sit on the sofa when i was not looking or when i was not home but when i came back home she would go in the kitchen like she did nothing. i realized she did it when she went deaf and never heard me come in .i would leave her on the couch because it might be comfy but if not they have mats that u can put on the sofa and when she jumps up it annoys her or u can get the mat with the sensor that makes a noise when she jumps up there u can buy it at dr.foster and smith they have a website
- Q:I have a Suede sofa and my husband sat on it last night and got vaseline on it how can i remove the vasline with out messing up my sofa
- You can try using Dawn dishwashing liquid or a 1/2 and 1/2 water and vinegar solution. Put a small amount Dawn or vinegar solution on a soft cloth or very soft-bristled brush and use a circular motion to work the cleaner into the spot. Use a soft damp cloth or damp paper towels to clean up the residue by blotting. Or, if that doesn't work, I would get a brown paper bag and an iron. Place the bag over the vaseline and use the iron on its lowest setting to iron over the spot. The vaseline will end up melting onto the bag. You may need to do it a couple times if the spot is very big or messy. Good luck!
- Q:I am moving into an apartment and would love to get some help ...Trying to create a modern look and Im centering the whole decor on our sofa set which is beige green with black brown wood on the edges of its arms.The color palette for the decor will be slat blue, white and a bit of orange (just for the flowers)..Wondering if it okay to get a white coffee table...The tv console is also black-brown.Also, what color should i chose the area rug ? Neutral or Green ? There will be some indoor plants also ...hence the thought for a green rug...Thanks for the help.....
- Choose a lighter green, perhaps a 'sea green' that has lots of 'white' in it ... or choose a pale yellow color. I like the hunter green carpet and the 'sea green' walls, though ... but if you do use the 'same' color, just lighter, then you'll need to choose a good 'contrasting' color to 'brighten up' the whole room ... a nice 'medium red' would work, or a 'pattern' with pink and burgundy would also be good.
