- Q: I'm not asking about an Intl Drivers License. I know about those. I just want to know if anyone has gotten a Japanese Drivers License on SOFA status while being in Japan.

- Q: I bought an ikea Ektorp sofa two years ago.In the first year itself, I noticed feather leaking out of the sofas, it seems Ikea uses feathers in their cushions.Anyway when I was about to wash, I removed the slipcovers and there was just so much feathers that have leaked out. Also after washing the color of the slipcovers faded.I should have returned the sofa in the first year as they have a three year guarantee but I was busy and all. I can still return since my 3 years is not up so I would like to ask has anyone returned ikea sofas due to the quality. Did Ikea take it back after you complained, any problems returning the sofa? Has anyone complained but Ikea decided not to take the sofa back?Any advice what I should do about the sofa? It is such a waste, the sofa is still comfortable just a hassle when cleaning as there are a lot of feathers leaking out, eventually I think this will cause the cushions to sag/sink. Also the color has faded in just 2 short years.I guess I expected better quality from ikea.
- The Ektorp sofa has an awful reputation. I almost bought one last year but I did some research first and I'm glad I did! All the problems you've experienced are the similar to the stories I read. Apparently, the covers are well known for fading. I would try to take it back and get a refund or at least a replacement sofa. Good luck.

- You must sit on a sofa to determine leg length, neck support, whether or not is has an foot rest, etc. Leather is very nice. What suits one for comfort is terrible for another. Since it's 3 h away, I'd buy something local and really sit and test for all family members. And, if there's a problem you call your local dealer. Good luck!
- Q: Furniture stores do mention if they use 100% leather or leather-match, however our particular sofa set mentions the following, finest leather combined with the best designed leather match. I don't really care even if it is leather match, it is important for the material to be long lasting. I hope its not vinyl or anything. How can I tell what material they use in leather match? and How can I tell if any real leather is used or not?
- I have a friend who has a sofa with finest leather combined with the best designed leather match. The back and seat cushions along with the arm rests are all 100% leather. The entire rest of the couch body is the leather match, a fancy set of words for vinyl. Some of the synthetic leathers are a very close match to the real thing that most people can't even tell the difference. As weird as it sounds, the only way I can tell if leather is real, is to either look at the underside (hide) or smell it. You could always ask, point blank, to the furniture salesman, exactly which parts of this furniture is genuine leather? Good luck.

- i have the Ektorp sofa with the pull-out queen size bed. the heaviest part of the entire sofa is the pull out bed because it is a metal frame. the ektorp sofa comes in three parts (well at least the sectional i got) and if you were moving it alone i can tell you it's very easy. one good healthy person can move the three sections on their own. two people is always fun

- MY DuraBlend (or bonded leather) sofa from Ashley furniture started peeling after 1 yr. This is not covered under the warranty as it is considered wear and tear. Feels great and looks amazing but after just moderate use it has the potential to start peeling. It was even peeling in odd areas I would not recommend this material for sofas.

- Something in the tan family or a light taupe would work. I would also suggest painting the trim (baseboards, window and door frames) the same colour if the space is really small as this will give the room the appearance of more space. You could use an eggshell paint on the walls (low shine, but not flat) and a semigloss paint (low sheen) on the trim in the same colour to give the trim subtle definition. And if you don't like it... it's only paint - you can buy some more. Have fun!

- I agree with Gail H. The first question you have to ask yourself is does your dog see you as the alpha? Sometimes when a dog does not see the owner as alpha, he just gets on everywhere he likes...because in his mind, it's his territory, not yours. There are lots of books outside telling you whether you are alpha or not and how to establish that status. If your dog is the zulu dog of the family, I nicknamed my dog this because he needs to know he is below everyone...from the cleaning lady, to kids, to everybody in the family, it's an easy fix. My trainer is the Dir of Training of puppy people, she said when the dog gets on the sofa..don't give verbal...because verbal is a reward too to dogs...all they hear is blahblahblah. Best solution is give your presence and the look, look at the dog (pretends your kids just smash your favourite lipstick) and point to the floor. If he refuses to move, just hold his collar and take him down. When he is all four on the floor and remains calm, say yes and reward. My guess is given he is so used to the old sofa, I will do this when your new sofa comes.
