- Q: I am trying to assemble this IKEA sofa bed. Unlike all other Ikea products one needs to use a hammer to hit the plastic scews. - You might have some difficulties finding exactly the kind you want without paying a high price for it. Most sofas are designed for sitting rather than sleeping on. However, if you currently have a sofa bed type couch, then it probably is not very comfortable to sit on. Try checking out some Futons, since really good ones have removable pads that are comfortable for both sitting and laying on. However, don't expect to get one for a cheap price. Rather go for comfort not price. Also, you might look into getting a roll-a-bed, that can be stored when not in use. They are coming back in style and are pretty comfortable to sleep on. One the other hand, there is always the day bed that can be used in a den or spare room that looks great and sleeps good too.

- Q: My roommate's cat sleeps on my new sofa 24 hours a day. I would not mind if it was occasionally but he is always sleeping on it. He is a longhaired cat and the sofa is now covered in fur. The fur is very difficult to get off the fabric and my roommate does not offer to clean it up, so I just do not want the cat sleeping there. - You can't make a cat do anything it does not want to. If you do not want the cat sleeping on your bed, you will have to lock it out of your bedroom. Cats are the boss of you! Dogs have owners. Cats have staff.

- Oh Gawd, come and take my boyfriend's away!! When I met him, everything this man owned was dark green. His car, his sofa, his towels, his shower curtain, his throw rugs, his kitchen pot holders, his table cloth, his comforter!! I am slowly getting rid of all the green, but the sofa still stands. I must say it is durable and oh so comfortable, though. Try Raymore and Flanagan's, Bob's Furniture or Puritan Furniture. If these stores are in your area, I would try there first. You could probably get one at Ethan Allen if you leave them with your first born child (expensive furniture). The good thing about dark green is that you can decorate circles around dark green as it matches just about any other color.

- Maria gave you the best answer. Beware though. It the urine has been there a long time and the room is quite warm, the urine may have saturated the whole cushion or sofa. Maria's suggestion is just great and you should follow her method. But once it's aged and gone right through you may have to have the cushion dry cleaned. Be sure to BLOT and NOT RUB too much. Rubbing could spread it. I had the same problem when my 2 cats...14 yrs ago. One passed away. But one is still with me.. When they were kittens, they urinated on my sofa...once! But I was away for a couple of days and my cat-sitter didn't notice. When I came home I followed Maria's method and it seemed fine...on the surface. But as I laid down to watch TV and a rush of air came from the cushion I detected an odour. I had the cushion dried cleaned. Good luck.
- Q: Does microfiber start to turn rough and pill? I've had a microfiber sofa for about a month and its starting to feel grainy and pill like a sweater would, I can't imagine what it will look and feel like 6 months from now. I spoke to the store and they say they can change the fabric but will not guarantee it won't just happen again. Is this normal or did the store sell me something that is not really microfiber. The label says the covering is 100% polyester, is that what all microfiber sofas say? The showroom sofa was nice and soft not like mine at all. I was sold a microfiber sofa and I have a feeling its really not. - Microfiber is just a fancy word for polyester - a recent way to erase the image of the polyester suit from the 70s. The only thing that matters is the fact that you are not satisfied with the quality of the fabric so let the store bend over backwards to please you. I have microfiber sheets that are not supposed to pill - but they do, mainly by the foot area.
- Q: how to reahpolster a sofa?
- Go to the library a check a book out on upholstery. I have one but it would take me forever to type out the instructions. You will need a staple gun and lots of staples and a sewing machine. I reupholstered a sectional sofa with 2 recliners at both ends. I used a heavy duty drapery fabric. It turned out great! I have since given it away and down sized to a love seat and large chair with ottoman.
