Q: I have a question over my car. When a valve cover gasket(s) has a leak, will it still leak even after car has been off for a few days. It has also been starting to smoke after it has been on for 5 minutes. I don't move it. Thanks.
You can buy Valve gasket sealer for a quick fix.
Q: My 97 Tahoe has a leaking A/C pressure valve. I went to charge the system yesterday, and when I finished I took the hoses from the charging gauges off. The pressure side valve leaked. I pressed it down with a small screwdriver yet still couldn't get it to seat. I looks like it might have a damaged seal around the valve. Can I replace the valve? And if so, how. Or do I have to replace the entire hose assemble as they connect to the compressor? Thanks
You will have to evacuate the A/C system of it's freon to replace that schraeder valve. There is a tool that is similar to the one used on valve stems on tires that you might get and just try to tighten it first. That tool can be found at automotive A/C supply stores. Don't try to use anything else or you might mess it beyond repair. If you replace the hose you will also have to evacuate the system. I would try tightening it first. Also I've seen people just put a good o-ring under the cap that goes on it and tighten the cap real tight to avoid having to evacuate the system.
Q: I have to replace a radiator valve. I have a hot water system, but all I can find are steam valaves in the size I need. Looking at the valve, it looks pretty much the same. It seems like it would work, but it is a Steam valve. Will it work in my hot water system? Why cant I find a Hot water radiator valve over 1?
Seems to me that a steam valve would need to hold a lot more pressure than a hot water valve. Steam is a high pressure gas and water is a liquid irregardless how hot it is (below boiling point) I am not a qualified plumber or boiler tech but personally I wouldn't use a steam valve for water or vise versa.
Q: have a 86 flhtc had new cylinders 10-1 pistons supposed to be 86 cubic inches when i run it up to 90-95 bending valves what can i do to stop bending valves-------HARLEY DAVIDSON
A. Botan and I can conquer anything! And we can't die together cuz She's immortal! But E is my second choice, although I wud probably end up in the other place. EDIT: An if we live forever, I hope we stay forever young. Acctually, only I would need that. Botan is already forever young. And if we lived forever, then we dont need to worry about enimies killing us....
Q: this valve used in the refinery.
This is a 'Trip and Throttle' (T T) valve that is maintained in a 'Fully Open' postion during normal turbine operation. It is maintained open by a Hydraulic Control system that, should any of many shutdown conditions occur, the hydraulic oil will be dumped to its reservoir by the operation of a Solenoid valve, actuated by the shutdown signal, and the T T valve will immediately close, stopping the steam flow to the turbine speed control steam chest in a safe manner. The valve handwheel is then operated to ensure that the valve remains fully closed until the system is ready for re-start. The valve cannot be opened again until the shutdown condition has been rectified and the hydraulic system reset to restore the oil pressure to the valve. The valve however, can then only be re-opened manually and slowly until the turbine is brought to the 'Minimum Speed Control' Governor setting. When settled down at this condition and the steam chest valves are under the control of the Governor, the T T valve is swung wide open. This latches the valve in the fully open position until another shut down occurs,
Q: P.S.V. Pressure Safety Valve
psv is a pressure sensitive valve the other is sspring loaded and will fail in time
Q: fisher control valve
One minor point to add to Artsupremo's answer. Valves can be either air to open or air to close. With one you start with the valve closed and the other with the valve open. The procedure is the same for both types of valves, I just wanted to clarify that point.
Q: i have this valve and its really stiff i was wondering if there's a way to loosen it up a little its a KBI Ball Valve baught at Ace hardware and it looks like their might be a way of adjusting it i just dont know how
tap it lightly with a hammer while turning it
Q: this question was on my test for APII, the question is stated as:the tricuspid valve is closed...a) during rapid filling of the ventricles (this is the answer the teacher shows to be correct)b) by contraction of the papillary musclesc) while the atria contractd) during ventricular contraction (this is the answer i chose i got it wrong)please let me know to correct answer!! thanks!!
someone should be doing their hw for anatomy
Q: we are having diffaculty with our spa and our jacuzzi. sometimes when we try and heat the spa the pool gets heated.first of all we would like to make sure the valve diagram is right because sometimes also the spa dumps about half into the pool. frustfrated can any one help?
You have one or more faulty valves or you've got them turned the wrong way for the operation you want. You also may have a check valve that's going bad. The problem is that I'd have to see the setup around the pump and filter to even get an idea of what goes where. My pool has electric activators for the valves that allow automatic operation from inside the house. I adjusted one incorrectly once and it activated the valve backwards, and I had to readjust it.
