- Q: I enjoy baking as a stress buster and I was curious if using a cookie press was difficult in any way (including clean up). I've never seen one in use, but thought it would give my cookies a unique appeal since I don't know many people who use one. I adore those old fashioned, European style cookies.
- No, they are not difficult to use, you just need to practice a little. I bought one last year at Christmas time, So I will give you a couple of tips: 1) Use the recipe that comes with the press. They made the machine, so they know what combination of ingredients will work best with their machine. Some cookie doughs are too stiff, some are too buttery etc. to work in the press you buy. After you learn to use the press, you can try adapting some other recipe. 2) Chill your cookie sheet. The dough will absolutely not stick to a warm sheet, which will cause you undue frustration. Chill it for a few minutes before you cook your first batch, but more importantly chill it between batches. I like to rinse mine with cold tap water until it is cool to the touch, then dry it really well and stick it in the freezer for a few minutes before making a second batch. 3) Get a good quality cookie press. I got a Wilton because it seemed easier to fill and it comes apart completely for cleaning.

- Let x denote the older press's publishing rate (in editions/hr). Then the newer press's publishing rate is 2x (ed/hr). If the two presses work together for 3 hours, they produce 1 edition. 3(x + 2x) = 1 9x = 1 x = 1/9 So the older press does 1/9 of an edition per hour when working by itself, and the newer press does 2/9 of an edition in an hour. So the older press would take 9 hr to do 9/9 of an edition, and the newer press would take half that time, of 4.5 hr.
- Q: Hi!I have started a strength training routine in the mornings. Unfortunately it is hard to find anyone I know to come with and spot me that early in the morning. So what is a good replacement exercise for the bench press to work the chest in case I have no one to spot me. I guess preferably something using a machine that I won't need that spotter for.I know that pushups with the hands out wide work the chest, but I have no idea if they are effective enough to replace the bench press. So anything that might work about as well as a bench press would be great!Thanks!
- The bench press is the most effective chest exercise there is. I strongly recommend you stick to it. I do it without a spot. When you do the reps, on the rep where your upward momentum slows then this is the rep on which you stop. In my expereince for example, if I do five reps at roughly the same pace for each then on the way up on the sixth I slow down then I won't attempt a seventh.
- Q: I know you press c to crouch but how do you role?
- Simply press the keys for movement to either side. You're probably using WASD keys, so A to roll left, and D to roll right while crouching. Note that you will have to press these keys while stationary. If you're moving forward while crouching, you'll just change direction, not roll. You may also be suing the Arrow keys, in which case, left arrow for left and right arrow for right. Happy Rolling!
