Q: I have a pretty basic office swivel chair, but the back of it is now very wobbly. It tilts to the right and back a bit most of the time, but can be rotated to stay upright like a normal chair back. I checked underneath the chair and it seems like there's nothing there to really secure the connection to the back. I've also tried tightening that knob on the bottom of the chair but it doesn't do anything. What can I do about this??: sale in second hand shop

Q: I was riding the max today and I noticed a quite few houses have lawn chairs hanging from a tree in their front yard. I also noticed this on the Facebook's main page. Is this some kind of trend?: With respect to Facebook, I don't know. Facebook also has a video you can watch on the subject of chairs, and they are basically saying chairs are a good thing. Okay, fair enough. But what's the point? I think most people who are hanging a chair in their yards are doing so either as a homage to Clint Eastwood, and his performance at the Republican Party Convention wherein he did a monologue with an empty chair that was supposed to represent the President of the USA. Or they are doing so in rebellion or objection to Clint Eastwood's performance, and suggesting it was insulting to the President or others. Or, in the alternative, since the chair represented the President of the USA, perhaps the HANGING of the chair has other connotations, meaning perhaps it represents a lynching of sorts. Not necessarily of any particular individual, but perhaps representing the lynching of the president's POLICIES. Where you stand on this issue may depend, in part, on your own political orientation. No matter where you stand, it is not necessary to hang a chair from your tree. But you will have an opportunity to VOTE in November.

Q: I am re-doing my dining room chairs and would like to know if 5lb. density 2.5 in. memory foam would be a good choice or should I just go with medium firm 2.5 in. regular foam. I am going to wrap the foam in batting before I put the fabric on the chairs. Also would 2.5 inches be thick enouph or should I do 3 inches? Please give details as to which foam would be better and why.: I would stay away from memory foam for dining chairs. Folks move around, get up, sit down too often for there to be any benefit to having memory foam on a chair, and I can see where it would be a major PITA (literally!) to not be able to turn in my chair comfortably or to have to REsit myself in the molded-to-my-bottom cushion after getting up to get more rolls, or whatever. I'd use regular medium density foam and I wouldn't use more than a 2 slab of it... especially if you're going to wrap the foam w/ batting before applying fabric. If the cushion is too high/bulky you risk folks having to dangle their legs off the edge of the chair (think of Lily Tomlin's Edith Ann sitting in the big chair), or having an uncomfortable pressure point at the back of their thighs that could cause legs to go numb. Q: Antique chair value and style.?: It's a second empire chair. Second empire style is from the period between 1865 - 1880 but it could also be a reproduction. It kind of looks like a reproduction from the picture but it's hard to tell without seeing it in the flesh so to speak. Value depends on so many things. If there a manufacturer name on the chair, what's the condition, etc. It depends what's making the legs wobbly. It can be dried out wood which shrinks the joints or something else.
