- Q:My mother in law got a chair for my baby shower. I had invisioned a regular baby shower chair with a round high back.. instead she brought a beat up old Wicker rocking chair. - It's different because of inertia. The chair that is bolted to the floor has the same inertia as the entire space shuttle, so it takes a lot more force for one unbolted human being to move the entire mass of the space shuttle and all its mass than it does for the body and mass of the astronaut to move in an opposite direction to the force the astronaut applied to the chair. When the chair is not bolted to the shuttle, the AND inertias of the chair and the astronaut's body and the force the astronaut applies to the chair are all proportional. Energy and mass are conserved and obey Newton's three laws of motion.

- We have a recliner in our daughters room... This is our first so I can't speak from experience. We prefer a recliner rather than a rocker or a glider. The recliner is SO comfortable I can't wait to use it. I plan on using it to read to her and feed her in it as well as rock her to sleep. But I guess we will see how well that works out.

- You have to look at the chair in its original context. Look at other furniture from 1929 and you won't see anything else like the Barcelona chair. Mies van der Rohe and Lily Reich were pioneers for designing this chair from heir choice of materials, minimal lines, construction (stainless steel had just been developed). When properly built to original specs, it takes a lot of high quality materials and skilled labor to produce -- around 28 hours of labor is involved. $3900 is not much for 28 hours of labor considering all the sales people, craftsmen, managers, suppliers, delivery people, laborers needed to build and move one chair. Plus all those people require work buildings, offices, insurance, cars/trucks, phones... etc. $3900 only gets you the cheaper model, there is one made of higher grade materials at $6,000. When the chair was originally designed, it did not sell for that dollar amount, the price has been adjusted for inflation, but it still was not cheap back then, it is and will always be an exclusive item. Surely, the chair can be mass-produced by machine now and sold for cheap at Target, but then it wouldn't be an exclusive item anymore. BMW and Lexus could cheapen their products for everyone to have, but then, why bother? There are Corollas and Ford Focus for the ones who don't want to/can't spend the money. By the way, it's not a simple chair at all, it's very complex, it just looks simple because in the past 7 decades, other chair designers were inspired by that iconic design. It;s iconic because it was ground-breaking, an original thought at the time. To say it is simple is to say paper is simple... yes it sort of is, but it took humans millions of years to get around to inventing it.

- Ugh Kelly...parenting is not so hard, we just wanna make it fun and enjoyable for our kids! Anywho, I bought a similar kind and my daughter (15 months) wants to play more thanuse it. I still get her to try, but she likes sitting on the toilet that she sees all of us use. I actually read reviews and ppl said they didn't like that one much cos it wouldn't work properly and it was more of a toy than trying to go pee. HOpe that helps.

- Oh man. You are describing my 7 month old. (Well your babe is older now) This is got me freaked out. She was colic until 4 months. She is now on her third set of teeth, and the first one popped through only one month ago. She is constantly fussy, needs to be carried around all day, and doesn't sleep at all, really. We might get a sporadic sleeping all night long once or twice a month. I know i am not answering your question, but i want to tell you I know how you feel!! My pediatricain is such a butt too... No advise just, some babies are like that, it's her personality. My son was a breeze, happy go lucky, slept well, liked everyone, could at least play occasionlly by himself without whining and crying. (of coarse my babe is only 7 months) I can relate to your trapped feeling. I only have one other, you have four! Poor mommy. And don't you get frustrated when someone says well you should just do that or this, you can't let them have there way all the time. Like you said easier said than done. I work full time, 12hr days, three days a week, but don't go to school. I am sure you are just drained, i know i am. Good luck from one high need baby momma to another! - I have assembled a number of chairs and never had a problem with the armrests. Loosen all the screws until loose enough to get all of them started, then just tighten them in rotation, a little at a time. And by the way, calling somebody stupid on here doesn't get you much good help, your question was quite ambiguous.
