Q: ok so i need a lil help with this, if..A chair of mass 10.5 kg is sitting on the horizontal floor; the floor is not frictionless. You push on the chair with a force = 40.0 N that is directed at an angle of 39.0 degrees below the horizontal and the chair slides along the floor.Calculate the normal force that the floor exerts on the chair.ive tried a couple times and can tell you the answer is NOT, 103 N, 367 N, 429 N and 77.8 N.Please help me out and include the CORRECT answer and working out.thanks heaps, take it easy :)
Weight of chair = mg = 10.5 x 9.81 = 103.0N Vertical component of 40.0N force = 40.0sin(39.0) = 25.17N upwards Resultant vertical force on chair = 0 (as there is no acceleration in vertical direction), therefore: total downwards force = total upwards force The total downwards force is just the weight. The total upwards force is 25.17N + the normal force. 103.0 = 25.17 + N where N is normal force N = 103.0 - 25.17 = 77.8N (to 3 sig. figs., same as data supplied)
Q: How do you raise the height of their swivel desk chairs? Thanks
You grow the height you do because of several factors; some are unchangeable- like genetics. The others relate genuinely to health, as diet, accidents and illnesses all have potential to decrease/ limit height, and some factors such as for instance hormonal abnormalities can decrease or reduce height potential.
Q: When I was 15 years old there was a school play and I was in It and my role was to sin on a chair but instead of sitting on it I accidentally slipped and busted my head against it and everyone was laughing at me and now I will never sit on a chair again so what should I do to overcome my fear of it please thanks for those who answer seriously
sorry.. Made me laugh.. But I will answer seriously.. Ya gotta go out there and show them who's boss.. Just plop down on em and conquer em man and the fear will dissipate
Q: I am re-doing my dining room chairs and would like to know if 5lb. density 2.5 in. memory foam would be a good choice or should I just go with medium firm 2.5 in. regular foam. I am going to wrap the foam in batting before I put the fabric on the chairs. Also would 2.5 inches be thick enouph or should I do 3 inches? Please give details as to which foam would be better and why.
I would stay away from memory foam for dining chairs. Folks move around, get up, sit down too often for there to be any benefit to having memory foam on a chair, and I can see where it would be a major PITA (literally!) to not be able to turn in my chair comfortably or to have to REsit myself in the molded-to-my-bottom cushion after getting up to get more rolls, or whatever. I'd use regular medium density foam and I wouldn't use more than a 2 slab of it... especially if you're going to wrap the foam w/ batting before applying fabric. If the cushion is too high/bulky you risk folks having to dangle their legs off the edge of the chair (think of Lily Tomlin's Edith Ann sitting in the big chair), or having an uncomfortable pressure point at the back of their thighs that could cause legs to go numb. Q: I have some chairs that have cushions down half the back and on the seat. I want to recushion the top and make it wider and the cushion go all the way down to the seat. (Turn them into Parsons chairs) What would be the easiest way to do this?
I would use foam, wledbond, plywood, string, buttons and fabric. First measure the base of your chair at the seat and figure out the hieght you would like the parsons chairs to be. If you chair is 18 wide at the base, and you want them to be 24 high, then you would need your plywood to be 14 x 21 high {approx.}. You can get this cut for a fee {usually} at any lumber or home improvement store. Take the lumber and attach it to the chair with weldbond and clamps {and l have no idea of your chairs but weldbond works on metal and wood} or anything that will hold it tight while it hardens. Let this be glued firmly and completely dry...for extra security you can tie with rope {it will be covered with the foam} . Get some 2 {or more} thick foam and cut it so you have one long strip that is 50 long by 28 wide. Now on the inside seat part of the back of the chair, take a staple gun {or if you have little hands like me, use a nail and hammer} and attach string every four inches or so in a grid layout} Now take the foam and make holes with a knife or sizzors to line up with string. Take your weld-bond and spread it evenly over the plywood {be generous} front and back. Take the foam and lay it beginning on the inside bottom edge, pulling through the string as you apply it to the glued surface, bring it over the top, and then down the back of the chair, you will have excess on the sides and final bottom edge, but this can be trimmed later. leave to dry on the floor lightly tie and hold in place with string. Take fabric and cut to the same size, drape it in the same manner, making holes and pulling through string Attach with upholstorers nails. Tke the string and attach big beautiful funky buttons. They will look fabulous!!!
Q: did you have any as a child? did your mom rock you or your grandparents ..do you have porch rocking chairs.. did you rock your babys and children including two am feedings in the quiet when hopefully everyone else was asleep and had alone time... did you manage to hang on to any of those rocking chairs.. have a safe life everyone GOD BLESS..
I had a little red wooden rocking chair with a cane bottom when I was little (wish I had it now!). And we also had a full-size rocking chair in the living room when I was growing up. After I married, I had a rocking chair to rock my babies in (priceless). Now I have a Lazy Boy rocker/recliner that I don't know how I'd get by without. It is so comfortable to lounge in while watching t.v. Nothing like it for putting my feet up and reclining back a little bit. But I sometimes just sit and rock a little instead when I read or work my Sudoku puzzles. I also have a natural finish wood rocking chair on my front porch that my son gave to me for Mother's Day a few years ago. It was very well built by the Amish. Rocking chairs are a great invention, I think....And God bless you too!
Q: well heres the story. My boyfriend and i are moving into an apartment together soon and his grandfather decided he was going to make us some chairs for our balcony. And though i am extremely greatful that he took the time to make them for us and that it was very nice of him, the chairs are bad. they are pretty much 2 pieces of wood and 4 sticks for legs. We cant tell him we dont want them even though we appreciate it because hes the type that gets really mad and offended if you dont accept a gift (and i guess i would be too) So what i am asking is...after a few weeks what can we tell him happened to where we cant keep them anymore? and like i said ia am greatfule that he made them but im afraid ill have to get a tetanis shot before i sit on them. what should we say?
Here's what you do. I know 100% what you mean, I've gone through this many of times. I keep the gift in the shed, or in the basement. I only take them out when the person who has given me the gift is coming over. Other times they're hidden. Good luck!
Q: I've got a small room and really would love a butterfly chair to relax in (my old one fell apart--literally). I bought one today at Target and it was WAYYYY too small. I want one I can curl up in, like my old one. Any help? Links would be awesome. :)
online, walmart, maybe sams club
Q: Christmas is coming up and I've decided to get myself a...Chair. I use my laptop a fair bit, and I spend a bit of time sitting on the chair in front of the desk.My current chair isen't very comfortable, just a basic boring thing.I was wondering if anyone knows of any really cool looking, comfortable, and perhaps a bit unique.(While not being to expensive)Sorry if that's a little specific, but if anyone has any suggestions that would be great. Thank you.
I thought Christmas is a time for giving to others...? Almost 2000 kids starve to death every hour of every day, but hey, the comfort of your butt is important too.
Q: I hate this chair! There is only one control item--a lever, and I've never used it at all. Yet my chair is a different height every other week. This morning I found it so high, my feet don't touch the floor and I can't figure out how to lower it! I've moved the lever in and out and every which way, but the chair doesn't budge.
Some old chairs adjusted just by screwing in and out of the central column. Since yours has a lever, this is probably not the case. If you have never used the lever, then we can't be certain what it does, but on most I have used, pulling up on the lever while seated should allow the chair to lower. Pulling up while off the chair should allow the chair to rise. Some I have seen also let you push or pull the lever to lock or allow the back to tilt some. If you have tried this, the pneumatic cylinder may be shot. Likely just need a new chair.
