Q:Hi all I'm on a tight budget for my wedding now chair covers look lovely if I don't have them would u think a wedding was cheap an nasty without them? Or should I just get them?
hey look ,they were too cheap to rent chair cover! ....i mean really is anyone ever going to notice? the guys won't that is for sure,so 1/2 of your guests are unconcerned already
Q:I found a chair that looks great from walmart, here is the information:?Stylish tufted velvet chair ?High-performance, easy care fabric ?Dacron wrapped foam cushions ?Kiln-dried hardwood frame ?Solid wood outer frame and legs ?Assembly required ?Model# CVS51-C27From Walmart .
The kiln-dried hardwood frame and solid wood outer frame and legs sounds good. It's hard to tell the quality of the foam, but if you can sit on the thing before buying it you can get a good idea. Just remember as a general rule the furniture Walmart carries isn't going to be around 20-100+ years from now. It's what lots of people refer to as throw-a-way furniture.
Q:I'm debating on buying a baby bouncer chair for my baby boy who is due in December..but is it worth it or you can use something else..
i would buy one. my daughter is 4 months old and we bought both a bouncer and a swing. the swing is still great for getting her to sleep when she's really tired. when she was about 10 weeks she would get really gassy and fussy at night and i would have to jump around and bounce her for hours at a time some nights.. the bouncer chair was a godsend because i could just sit on the couch and bounce her with my foot and she was satisfied :) they're not expensive at all either. we got ours for $20 brand new.. had a wind-up mobile too! we're still using it to this day and she can bounce herself now :)
Q:I have 6 dining room chairs with fabric seats. The fabric is light and I want to make a cover for them. I do not want to cover the entire chair, only the seat portion. I have a little sewing experience so I'm not worried about the construction of the cover, just the measuring of the fabric. Any ideas or references on how to do this?
Measure the length and width of the seat. and go to any fabric store. Give the measurements to the clerk and pick your fabric. She will figure how much you need to buy
Q:My boyfriend and I were laying on the recliner chair one night and we went all the way back on it and when we were trying to put the foot rest part down, I had to force it down with my hands. Now I notice that I can't use the handle on the side to put the foot rest down. How can I fix this without sending it to a furniture repair store. Everything seems fin except that. And I can tell it has something to do with the handle.
What you explained sounds like a bent mechanism. Tip the chair over on it's back. Now underneath is a scissor action that folds up when you put the foot rest down. Pull the foot rest all the way out. Look for any bends between the the rivotted sections. They generally all should be straight. If you find a bent part straighten it. If it's bent it will be catching against each other. Should'nt be the handle because it's attached by a bar that operates the mechanism. Check to see if the chair sits level. The screws that hold the mechanism to the chair might have been pulled out of the chair itself. Look for screws on the floor. Or check to see nothings jammed up in the mechanism. I,m not trying to be a smart A but they are only made for one person. Get on the sofa next time. lol
Q:Is there a better (meaning cheaper but ergonomically excellent) chair to buy for my home office?
They are great chairs, but there are also some really good ergonomic office chairs at reasonable prices. Here's a good site that has some info about how to choose a good chair and they also have good prices. Hope that helps
Q:A friend of mine has a chair we are trying to find some information on. Maybe someone on here knows what period it came from? Sorry, I don't have a picture, but maybe I can describe it well enough. The back is short...on an average height person the highest part of the back would come to your lower neck. It has, oddly, cherubs with what look like breasts on either side of the back...their faces are full front but their bodies are side views. it has lots of scroll leaf type carvings, and the seat is also carved. It's a solid dark wood. The most puzzling part is the legs...there are only two. one in front and one in back that are really just flat pieces of wood that go across from one side to the other, with a curved piece cut out at the bottom. Does anyone know anything about a chair like this?? I would be most grateful for some info! Thanks! :)
sounds neat but i cant tell ya unfortunatly, ive actually never even heard of a chair with legs like that, id be willing to bet its older thne you might be thinking though, seems like the more simple the construction of a chair the older it is.
Q:Hei,I am trying to upholster a wing-back chair.I can't find an approximate yardage amount for:welting cord / fabric pipingflexible jaw strip metal / metal strippingI would greatly appreciate an estimated amount!
Take okorder ..... , will require more yardage. Measure the welting cord and stripping currently on the chair and add 10-15%.
Q:I am shopping for a used high chair for my 4.5 month old.

Q:i have an eames lounge chair how do I find the year and authenticity of it?
Thought this might still be useful esp for others who are also looking for the same stuff. Here's what I can say on this: Looking for a leather armchair that looks old-fashioned, and at the same time, has the kind of usage you are thinking about (the term “gynaecologist” was kind of a dead giveaway) can be rather difficult, and may require you to go to a custom furniture maker. This can be a somewhat embarrassing ordeal, if the design you showed is any indication of what the chair is to be used for. There are websites however, that do have similar looking seats, although not with arms as long as you pictured. There are chairs that are old fashioned looking, and there are chairs that have relatively long arms, as you depicted in your sketch, but for an old-fashioned looking chair with arms that long, some modifications may have to be made if you purchase a ready-made one from any of the online stores you search through. There are some that may be worth looking into, like this traditional looking button armchair with red leather upholstery and leather padded arm rests. You can have a local furniture maker alter the seat’s arms to get these to be as long as you want them to be, and to have them pad these with the same colored leather as the seat, to give you what you want.
