Q: My roommate spilled fruit punch on our carpet a month ago. Any idea how to get it out?: Wow...a month? Bummer. Well, if its a PURE white carpet, I'd recommend trying a bleach-based cleanser. Spray it on, let it soak for a minute, then rub it out and spray with clean water and step the water out with towels till the area's bleach-free dry. Or you could look for a cleaner called Spot-Shot. However, this is usually best on fresh stains... Good luck. (PS - try putting this under Cleaning Laundry in the House Garden section as well...you might get some more answers there)

How difficult is it to take out, and what does it entail...?Note- hardwood floor underneath...in good condition.Thank You.: You just need to pull it up at one corner and keep going. When you get a few feet folded back cut it and roll it up so it is all in manageable sizes. Then take up the padding and do the same. Last step is removing the tack strip along the walls. You'll need some kind of pry bar for that. Be careful not to stick yourself with the spikes.

Q: ok i got a new throw rug about a month ago and all of a sudden today my cat pissed on. I'm worried that the powder would turn into mud but testing out the powder in the bowl, I figured that if I change the water depending how many rooms i go through (I have three rooms) i should be okay to avoid clogging or anything. On the store website however I can only find the pricing of cases of 35 square feet and such. I only need roughly a three tile by three tile square. Q: I have carpet beetles. Will carpet cleaning kill them? If not, what should I do to get rid of them that is pet friendly.: I have had a major problem with black and variated carpet beetles and no matter what I did, they kept coming back! I don't want to buy bug spray because I have a 6 month old boy. Recently I went on a whim and started spraying down the baseboards with colgate pro health mouth wash since someone told me it works for bugs and then I did an experiment. I found a beetle escaping running across the kitchen floor so I sprayed him and he was running, running, running then fell over dead! I decided to add some lavender oil drops to the mix to make it smell nice. Then, I was cleaning the bedroom and I had found a carpet beetle larvae out of its hiding spot so I took it and put it into an empty container and sprayed it with mouth wash and took it out right away on a dry piece of paper and only after a few seconds, it was dead. Try mouth wash. So far it seems to be an effective way of killing them- all life stages. Since the stuff doesnt have alcohol and if you spray the baseboards only, it shouldn't be a problem as long as you don't make a pool of it.

Q: carpet seems to be deteriorating and flying in air..manufacturerer says it is not from their carpet. By using wet sponge, I collect specimens from around edges of carpet that are the color of the carpet and look like wet cardboard.: Good heavens, that's strange. Did you buy this carpet yourself, or was it already there? Do you know what the material is? I have lived in five houses with wall-to-wall carpeting and have never, ever seen that. If you can't find out what the material is on the phone, then take a piece of it to Home Depot or a specialty carpeting store or someplace like that and get some help. If you have major problems with this, I would call your local television news station and get them interested in a faulty product story. This might pressure the carpeting manufacturer to pay some attention to your issue. One final note though: whoever owned the carpet before you might have applied some kind of product to the carpet which is causing its detioration. Good luck.
