- Q:I have to clean a carpet that has a red cool aid stain on it? Since it is not my carpet, I have no idea how long the stain has set into the carpet. I am willing to try just about anything short of a beach based cleaner? The carpet is an off white, so it's extremely noticable. Any suggestions, or is this a hopeless case?
- Try using Resolve carpet cleaner. Resolve gets out the toughest stains.
- Q:I'm looking to clean the carpet in my apartment m, and I am debating on whether I should rent a carpet shampooer or buy one. Let me know if you have any suggestions on a good one please. Also looking to buy a new vacuum does anyone have have a cheap good one they recommend

- Q:i can put carpet over a wooden floor cant i??
- Yes, I worked in a carpet store for 8 years and what we told customers is to have it loose laid meaning get a roll that doesn't need seaming and can go right under the molding around the walls if you don't want the carpet tacks to mess up the wood. If you're not concerned about that then just have it laid over the floors. Best wishes
- Q:we bought several new throw-rugs to protect carpets at door-ways. They were folded in half on a pile in the store. It has been impossible to remove that crease, which as the traffic goes on it bunches up in the middle even worse. Any ideas on how to get out these creases where the fold was? Have washed, weighted down, turned over, hung up.....can't seem to prevail! Need advise on how to get rid of these creases. Will never buy a folded rug again.
- This is really not an answer or solution ; my notion is that you will have to live with it. Applying steam on the back side to the backing and then weight it down would an other possible solution; I wouldn't put $ on it though. Could you use the rug somewhere that the crease would be under a table or chair?
- Q:please tell me how to tell whether or not to put a rug my horse, she lives out she is not clipped but she will be soon i live in cavan ireland so it can get cold so could someone tell me what signs i should look out for to tell when is the right time to put on a rug.p.s my horse is an irish sports horse if that makes a diffrence
- Personally, I'd have her in a rug right now. I'm in Scotland and both mine are in middleweights - its dropping to near 0 degrees at night already and I wake up to frost. When she gets clipped she MUST have some form of rug on with weight in it unless its gorgeous weather - when you take away their coat its like taking away our clothes and expecting us to stand in the cold - we can't heat ourselves up and so we get cold very quickly. This is what I said for another answer. Weather for no rugs / fly rugs - HOT weather with no / little breeze. Weather for a rainsheet - Rain but no wind. Weather for a lightweight - Rain with wind, or just wind. Weather for a mediumweight - Rain with a lot of wind, just wind or cold temperatures (basically, as I don't feel the cold, the minute I need to be putting on a jacket is mediumweight weather) Weather for a heavyweight - The coldest it gets. Snow. Below freezing temperatures. Last year in the worst of it I did put a heavyweight stable rug under a heavyweight turnout, it got that cold.
- Q:I recently took out the carpet in my apartment. Between the carpet and the mat under that, there were thin, wispy strands off fiber-like material and quite a lot of it. Is this asbestos? Or is it normally used under carpets. Also, if it is asbestos, is my health in danger?
- I have never heard of asbestos being used in this manner and I deal with it professionally. You can stop worrying.
- Q:I got a rug burn on my toe Monday and not quite sure how to treat it. When I looked up how to treat rug burns, every site said that they were like 1st degree burns or a sunburn and should be pretty much treated the same way. However mine is open and for the first few days, was leaking pus and a clear liquid. It hasn't healed up yet and I have been treating it as a cut. It fizzes when peroxide is applied but today didn't do it as much (and hurts much less). Am I doing the right thing? Also is there a cool trick to get a band aid to stay on my toe? The burn is at the joint that is the foot equivalent of a knuckle.
- You cannot get a third degree rug burn. Third degree burns are full thickness: all the layers of skin and into the muscle is burned. You have a 1st degree burn. An open burn, yes, but still first degree. You scraped off a layer or two of skin, which is why it was leaking plasma. Stop using peroxide as that is often too harsh and causes more damage as it will kill the regenerating cells. Stick with a simple antibacterial cream or ointment and bandage it. If band-aids won't say on, buy some gauze pads and medical tape.
- Q:No, I dont mean dancing! I have hardwood floors in my bedroom. I want to buy carpet, but the room is an odd shape. Is it easy to cut myself, and would I only need special scissors? Or should I pay to have someone do it for me?
- The problem will be the edges, unless you are talking about carpeting the whole room. If it is just a rug, cut it carefully, and then bring it to a specialty shop to have the edges sewn. Any high quality rug store should be able to direct you there.
- Q:This might be a stupid question. But I'm about to buy carpet and I need to know how many sq. feet I need. I need to get a 16x20 piece of carpet and the prices go per sq. footage. so, How much sq.footage is 16x20? thanks.
- You need 320 s/f butttttttt..... Carpet comes mainly in 12 and 15 foot wide so depending on how you room is laid out with its walking patterns etc is how its laid and seamed. Generaly a seam will be on the furthest wall away from all traffic. Again if your carpet comes 15 foot ( some do some only comes 12 foot wide) you ll you ll need extra carpet for a seam . You ll be scraping out some so you ll have to get more than 320 s/f GL
- Q:I'd like to know how REAL fur coats, bear skin rugs, etc. are made (by hand not industrial process) as I don't believe its tanning like in leather as it requires the fur to be stripped. I know the animal is killed and harvested, but someone please start after that and tell me as I'm trying to do research for a story I'm working on and I have no experience at this aspect. And if you have an idea of how long they last I'd appreciate it. Also, are they as soft and flexible as it seems or are they harder like leather? Thank you. Also I know its a cruel process and all so please no sarcasm.
- Many of us wear them, but we don't actually make them into coats or rugs. They're ALREADY sold in stores ready to wear. My very first fur coat was from a curly lamb suede outside, fur inside.
