- Q: throw rug: backing dried up and crumbled; any way to rehab the rug?
- The only thing you can do is buy that non-slip stuff they sell to keep rugs from moving on the floor, and lay the rug down on that. But when you go to wash the rug, all that stuff will still crumble and fall off into your washing machine.

- I have always had hard wood floors, so I use area rugs and rug runners under foot. I have found that the best rugs are wool rugs. My all time favorite rugs are hand hooked rugs. They are very durable.

Let the carpet completely dry and repeat the rinse cycle if the previous rinses were overly dirty or still produced carpet cleaner foam in the rinse water. I've found Rug Doctor cleaning products to be the best available. You can enhance any cleaning solution's ability with the use of Oxy Clean crystals. Oxy Clean can also be used as a pre-treatment spray to loosen dirt and grime from carpet fibers before the cleaning process begins.

- to repair your carpet, you will need a carpet knife,level or square to guide your cutting.,double sided carpet tape, tape measure, first measure out the area you need, make sure it is prepped by squaring the area off, in a corner in the closet remove a section needed for your repair job. sweep or vac the area, place your double tape down,place your carpet on top and if you have a rolling pin, roll over the carpet to make it lay down and seal to the tape. you can pick up same carpets and replace the one in the closet.

The rug was a terrific buy through The Foundary. It was a $1,000 New Zealand wool that I got for $400.00. If you aren't familiar with The Foundary by Hayneedle, go to their website. You sign up to get their special sales, which last only a few days. But they have some great bargains. I sent the rug back. It cost $27, and Fed Ex picked it up. That wasn't too bad, considering I got to try it out and the rug would have been a terrific value had it worked. I had to find out, though. The cost to ship it back didn't break the bank, but it was a pain in the ____ to get it packaged - had to be rolled and folded, and repackaged in the original plastic and paper.
