- Q: if i use oxyclean and water in my floor scrubber for a cleaner to do my whole carpets will it work nice?
- Do not use laundry products on your carpet, they may contain harmful bleach additives that will damage the carpet dyes, especially if the carpet is Nylon. what ever soap you use, use very little as these toy machines do not have the ability to properly rinse the soap from the carpet fibers. Any soap residue left behind will become a dirt/soil magnet and the carpets, especially the traffic areas will quickly re soil.
- Q: I got a rug burn on my toe Monday and not quite sure how to treat it. When I looked up how to treat rug burns, every site said that they were like 1st degree burns or a sunburn and should be pretty much treated the same way. However mine is open and for the first few days, was leaking pus and a clear liquid. It hasn't healed up yet and I have been treating it as a cut. It fizzes when peroxide is applied but today didn't do it as much (and hurts much less). Am I doing the right thing? Also is there a cool trick to get a band aid to stay on my toe? - Use Aloe Vera gel. It will help it to heal faster. Keep it around, it's great stuff. Or you can buy an Aloe plant and cut a leaf and rub the gel on.

- Plain Arm and Hammer baking Soda works just fine. Sprinkle let it set a few hrs and vacuum it up (overnight is best if you can wait). I do not use the powdered form of carpet fresheners I use the spray foams. They smell good and do not leave the residue in the carpets and are safe around children and pets. Normally I buy them at walmart or the Family Dollar where they are even cheaper and have off brands.
- Q: I am repainting and decorating my spare bedroom and have a question regarding carpet and area rugs. The room has honey stained pine hardwood floors which I want to keep. I dont really want to have carpet installed in the room, so here is what i'm thinking. How do you think it would look if I bout a piece of carpet alittle smaller than the size of the room and put that down? Like 3-5 inches of hardwood still exposed around the edges of the room. Would this look weird? I want just a plain colored light tan carpet with a thick nap or shag like. Any body have this or seen it done? Also should I do something to the edge of the carpet to keep it from unraveling? Thanks for any help
- 1st of all what you are proposing is very common and works well. So, yes it's a good idea. Shag carpet works well for this because it gives you great contrast from the flat surface of the wood. You definitely would need to bind the carpet, so here is my suggestion. 1. Use blue tape to lay out your rug size and shape. Just put the tape around the room just where you want the rug to go. Don't be afraid to move the line in or out to work around features of the room. 2. After completing the above, draw the shape onto a piece of paper, measure the dimensions and add them to your new drawing. 3. Take your design to your local independent flooring store and have them help you select the right carpet. They will be able to give you a price for the material and the binding complete. You may want them to give you a price option on a felt backing which will protect your wood floor from abrasion. Or if you prefer you can by cushion or a slip knot rug mat to lay under your new rug. - Q: I built my own box, sounds great but looks terrible without carpet.
- I would walk into a local carpet shop and purchase a few feet of carpet. Carefully measure out the holes and whatnot of the box. After you have everything cut out use staples (your choice, just using an example) to get the carpet on the box. For best results try getting a thin carpet.
- Q: Is their any specific guidelines for the maximum size of accent rugs.
- They come in all sizes, but as a general rule an area rug covers the center of the room usually just up to where the furniture sits around the sides.
