- Q: Last night we found our basement carpet soaked after a rainstorm---there was not standing water (until we pulled up the carpet and padding), but it was set enough to squish when you walk, etc. We pulled up the carpet and threw away the padding. We've been trying to dry it out with a fan, but it doesn't seem to be helping. What steps should we take to save the carpet? We really can't afford to replace it right now. Also, we live in Colorado, and there is almost no humidity. Thanks!

- You could always have the new carpet delivered early and air it out in your garage for a couple weeks. New carpet does contain formaldehyde and other fun toxins so make sure you can air out your home well.

- I am a professional carpet cleaner- This is what will work but you must be careful not to damage your carpet so try this in an area that is hidden first.... Mix ammonia and peroxide together and apply to the spot. Cover the spot with a white cloth and apply an iron over the white cloth. The trick is to heat the fiber causing the stain to change it's appearance. I recommend never using store purchased stain removers unless a professional has recommended it specifically.
- Q: Well, my cat pooped on my rug. It got rolled up now the whole rug smells horrible! Is there something I can use to make it smell better/fresh.
- Clean off as much of the poop as you can. Then just wash the rug right in your washing machine... ld water, regular laundry detergent. Hang to air dry. Machine drying can ruin the backing of the rug. Good luck. -
- Q: This must sound like a really dumb question, but...I'm still a novice with horses, and one of my stable jobs is putting rugs on the horses to be turned out.And I have quite a lot of trouble getting the rugs on, especially as the horses are 17-18 hands, and the rugs are volumus! I end up with them spilling about in my arms, and by the time the thing is on the horses back, it's inside-out! I feel such an idiot when people are watching me!I wonder if anyone here could give me some tips, especially on how to have the rug before putting it on, and how to actually get it up on the horses back in the first place, without getting in a mess.
- There are two basic types of blankets; those that open in front and those that you must put over the horse's head (closed front) For blankets that open infront, normally, there is extra padding (usually white at the whithers. At the back, there is a tail flap. If you grab the padding in one hand and the tail flap in the other, it makes it much easier to swing over the horse's body. For blankets that are closed in the front, the first thing you have to do is put the horse's head through the front. In order to do this without it being inside-out, check and make sure the buckles are on the outside. If the horse is really tall, and you are short (like me) ask the horse to lower its head by doing short gentle tugs on the lead rope (if you just hold, the horse will most likely just throw its head up)

- Q: i live in a house on a college campus, and after all the parties and everything, the floors tend to get dirty. my white shag area rug is right by my door, so a lot of dirt has been tracked onto it and it's starting to look gray and isn't fluffy anymore. i love my rug, is there any way to save it?
- Get a can of foam rug cleaner, spray it, scrub it in with a damp mop, let it dry then vacuum.=)
- Q: If I removed the rug the color will age and change darker but will the floor where the rug was blend with the outer Perimeter?
- I would go for a rich wine (claret to be exact) colour rug. Then scatter cushions with different patterns of the white of your lounge and the rug colour. Maybe a lamp or two in the claret as well?
