Q: We are getting the carpet throughout the house redone. We had planned on a high quality laminate, but apparently our floors slope too much for that. Now we have to go with carpet. I fear a berber throughout will look too industrial, not homey enough. My husband feels like flush style looks like apartments he had in the 70s. The carpet salesman is recommending the same carpet in the whole 3 floor house. We have spill-prone kids, but no pets. any recommendations? we want it to look nice, but don't really know where to go from here.
A plush or a textured carpet ( I like textured since its hard to see footprints and vacuum marks) Either of those work well to give you a warm homey feeling. As far as the kids and spilling , I suggest a pad that won t allow moisture to go through . These are commonly call pet proof pads. Not allowing the moisture to seep all the way down to the wood subfloor, you prevent possible mold and its easier to get any liquids back though the carpet and this prevents restaining for from wicking. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar. GL
Q: We have a really big area rug, and it keeps getting these huge...fold crease bulges in the same exact area...how the heck do you get rid of these for good?
Use carpet tape, even if you have a rug pad beneath it. The tape is double sided and will secure the rug to the pad so it won't shift. You can also secure it with the tape on the border of your rug to prevent shifting.
Q: What kind of carpet is suitable for the hotel? What kind of carpets is suitable?
if all high- class carpet is wool. some patterns. The hotel is suitable for wall-to wall carpet, acrylic is cheaper, but the price of wool is more expensive.
Q: My grandmother just purchased a new rug to replace her old carpet. It moves very easily so it was recommended that she buy rug padding and attach it to the floor under the rug. She's worried that it will need to be stapled to the floor and in the event that the rug needs to be lifted/moved in a hurry she wont be able to move the padding, and it could get damaged. So my question, more specificially: Is there another way to apply the padding under the rug without permanently securing it (ie: staples)? Or is there a special rug padding that doesn't need to be stapled? And in your opinion, will this alternative way make the rug just as immovable? Thanks!
I don't see why you couldn't get some carpet cut.. My basement has exactly that. The carpet has padding under naturally, but im sure you can get more padding for under it its that pricey for padding.
Q: himy apartment already has carpet, but it looks kinda ratty, so i bought an area rug.....it keeps bunching up in the same spot though.....is there any adhesive i could buy that works on carpet?
There is several types and sizes of matts that you put under area rugs. These will help stop the rugs from scooching. But you must get the type for rugs over carpets. So know your rug size and get one that will fit. You can trim to size with scissors. You don t want an adhesive, it will ruin any carpet. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar. GL
Q: okay, so i moved to college and back home my parents smoke and the 6'x10' rug i took to school smells of cigarettes. How can i get rig of that smell, any suggestions or advice. thanks.
Lots of baking soda! Sprinkle the rug with baking soda and leave it on there overnight, then vacuum. You might need to repeat this. If this doesn't work, the carpet is probably a loss. You can also set out small bowls of vinegar around the room to absorb the smells of smoke. You might want to add some vanilla or essential oils to the bowls to make it smell better though.
Q: I recently had new carpet installed in my home, and I was confused that the name of the color I picked out at the showroom was called quot;Fawn's Leapquot;, but 3 weeks later when the installers arrived, the tag on the carpet roll was named quot;Creston Winter Minkquot;. I called the carpet store and asked them if this was the same carpet I picked out since it seemed a bit lighter in color. They assurred me that it was the same carpet, and that the factory that made it uses that name, whereas the store uses the other for generic purposes. I kept a swatch to compare later on at the showrroom. But is this common with the carpet industry?
Yes, it's common. The correct reason would be for inventory and stock purposes. Each one has to record a name so as not to conflict with another product.
Q: can the welcoming red carpet paved outside the hotel door be used in rooms?
no, it will be damaged because of a long time friction. there is professional engineering carpet.
Q: My carpet is really dirty and there is some dried paint, too.
i recomend Hydromist 20 Heavy Duty Carpet Extraction Cleaning Machine which has 20 litre portable extraction cleaning machine,3m Hose and Stainless steel carpet wand
Q: Today I placed my laptop on the living room rug for a little while, and when I picked it back up I could feel little tiny bumps on the base of it. So I turned my laptop upside down and I could see about 30 or so super tiny bugs that were crawling around. They are so small that it's hard to say what color they are. But they are smaller than a grain of sugar! I do have two dogs, so I dont know if they came from the dogs, but I have never seen these things before. Does anyone know what they might be?
They might be carpet beetles. BOMB! You can buy a couple of bombs in the hardware store. Close up the rooms and put a bomb in each room that has a rug. Take your pet(s) out for the day. Set off these bombs and leave. Vacuum EVERY day afterwards. Now, If the dogs are itching or if you look on their underbelly and see something crawling on them, it's probably fleas. If that's the case, you need to get meds from the vet and attack the problem with a vengeance.
