- Q: how to clean the dirty carpet quickly?
- If it is wool, be sure to get to the dry cleaners. If it is chemical fiber, brush with agent at home (1) multi-layer structure distribution of carpet stains, dirty carpet stains in the A. level, which makes it easy to bury the stains, dirt. Old stain is not only on the surface, but also deepen into the layer of fiber taxture Lime, sand infiltration,2. three supporting layer becomes the hidden dirt, continuing to damage the carpet fiber. The carpet was constantly rubbing, stains, dirt will be buried more deeply . B. carpet stains, dirt classification: A. water and dry stains, dirt and stains are mostly water-based and dry substances, including dust, sand, starch, soft drinks, tea, fruit juice stains accounted for about 80%-85% of all dirt, especially fine dust, cast of life and work, mostly adhere to the carpet surface. The larger particles of dirt will slide on the supporting layer. B. oil based stains, dirt (including animal and plant oil, cosmetics, shoe polish, pen oil etc.). If it is wool, be sure to get to the dry cleaners.
- Q: My rug has been shedding and I have vacuumed it 100's of times and steam cleaned it. Is there anything I can do to stop the shedding? It is positively driving me CRAZY!! Any suggestions PLEASE
- sounds like a bad buy have you tried taking it outside and combing it with a fine comb? Then follow up with a hoover. If this doesn't work......
- Q: I just dropped a candle on my light colored carpet and red candle wax is everywhere. Any ideas on how to remove it?
- Use a brown paper lunch bag, put it over the wax and use an iron and the wax will soak into the paper....it works every time!
- Q: Hello, Thanks for taking the time to read this.Ok, I have been living on aparments since long time ago, most of them are all carpet (no choice), so now I'm moving to a beautiful townhome with 2 levels, first level where the living/dinning/kitchen are is all hardwood floors, I was just looking for slidders or socks for the furniture so they don't scratch the wood, my fiance said that the dinning room and the couches will look funny without a big area rug underneath. Do you think that Area rugs are mandatory on hardwood floors? Please share your opinions. Thanks again.
- Rugs do add a touch of warmth to a room, but they are expensive and attract dirt. I would rather have no rugs than cheap ones that roll up on the sides. I have lived both ways but I do prefer the look of a nice rug underneath big furniture.
- Q: We got a wool area rug a month and a half ago. It sheds bunch. Is this normal? thanx
- new rugs shed, just keep vacuuming
- Q: What kinds of carpets hold up well with kids and pets. We have berber now, and it seems to trap stains and pet odor than typical carpet. Any suggestions?
- If you're going to put a lot of money into carpeting your home, you want it to last. That's why you should choose a carpet that's durable enough to handle a room's intended use and possible foot traffic. Like comfort, durability is dependent on the style of carpet and the fiber with which it is manufactured. Loop pile carpets are the most durable because there are no open ends, making it less likely to pull or shed. Nylon, Olefin (polypropylene), and wool resist wear and tear much better than other fibers, like acrylic and polyester. Although it's an afterthought for many buyers, padding is actually an important part of your carpet's durability. In addition to cushioning your feet and insulating your house from cold and noise, this sub-layer can increase the life of your carpet, if installed properly. Different carpets call for different padding thicknesses, so be sure to check the manufacturer's recommendation before tacking anything to the floor.
- Q: He only poops when the door is open, other than that he uses his littler box. ( little box is cleaned 2 x a day.) He does this even when we wash and bleach the rug. WHY!
- I don't know but I LOVE the cat's name. Do you have an Odie too?
- Q: Heyy me and my roommates are thowing a huge going back to school party but we are trying to keep our carpet as clean as possible (almost impossible i know). Were going to have a couple hundred people coming in and out. Is there anything that people know about that could protect the carpet from serious damage and spills? Budget is also a factor, so he cheaper the better! Thankss
- There is a product builders use for new houses. It comes in big rolls and is adhesive on one side and sticks to the carpeting. Just pulls off when you are done. It's about $11 a roll and they have it at Lowe's and Home Depot. If that is too expensive, then get plastic painters' drop cloths. They are clear, don't get ones that are too thin, and just tape the sides to the baseboards with painters' tape. Not very attractive but will save the carpet. They are really huge and can do a whole room.
- Q: The carpet guy came to our house and measured our room out the other day, and said to put the baseboards in after. I read on a lot of sites to do the base boards first. Is the carpet company asking us to do it this way so its easier for them? Should we put baseboards in first even though they say not to?
- No way. Baseboards, or skirting boards in the UK, are put down first. I'd be a bit worried about any carpet fitters who were either so lazy or so incompetant that they would try to persuade you to put the baseboards in last just to save them the normal task of cutting the carpet accurately to the baseboard. Unless you are having some kind of modern plastic baseboard that just sticks or clips on, it is a nonsense to put wood baseboards in second. Put the baseboards in first, paint them fully, let the paint harden a few days, and make the carpet fitters exercise due diligence when fitting the carpets - as any credible fitter will. (and there is no reason for them to mark the walls either when they fit the carpet, except negiligence and accidents.) (maybe it's done differently in the US, but I'd like to see the carpet pulled out in the future having been stapled and skirting board put over the top - fitting wooden skirting boards is a fully skilled job for a carpenter or competent builder, there are angles and levels involved, then there is filler and various coats of paint, you just don't do this after fitting new carpet and you don't trap new carpet under skirting board - you might leave the final coat of gloss until after the carpet has been laid. )
- Q: My carpet has a mystery stain. It's very sticky and black and ground in. I have tried goo gown and soap and water. I need some sort of heavy duty carpet cleaning suggestions.
- Hello, Adding soap to the sticky and black ground in mystery stain is just making it worse. You are adding a surfactant (Soap) that gets sticky when it dries. You need to find out if the stain is a oil ( like food dropped ) or sugars like soda pop. First thing you want to do is get rid of the soap residue. If you have a wet dry vac. Get club soda and pour it onto the stick black ground in mystery stain. Use a soft shoe brush and start brushing the stain. If it is turning foamy you have to get DEFOAMER. Spray it on the carpet till you do not get any foam on your brush. (It cuts soap bonds so you can get the soap residue off the carpet). Keep adding club soda. Extract the club soda from the carpet. The black and sticky should start to go away. You should be left with just the original stain, or it should be gone. If you have no foamy residue and it still is sticky you need a solvent because it is an oil based spot. I don't know where you live but if you look in your local yellow pages for Carpet Cleaning Supply stores you can get Defoamer and Solvents to clean the carpets. BE CAREFUL WITH THE SOLVENTS USE AS LITTLE OF THE SOLVENT AS POSSIBLE. IT CAN DELAMINATE THE CARPET IF YOU USE TOO MUCH. (seprate the carpet backing from the fiber) Solvents will desolve glue. Robert
