- Q: When replacing the water pump in a 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan. Old one is loose, I'm about to lower the engine a little to get the water pump out. Before putting the new one on, do I have to do anything with the timing belt/chain?
- Depends on the engine size . If the pump is driven by the timing belt then yes , if the pump is driven by the serpentine belt then no .
- Q: i have a 1994 honda accord lx. i was wondering what the water pump is for and if it goes bad can i still drive around without it thanks
- 94 Honda Accord Water Pump
- Q: Okay, I have a 1982 Suzuki Dt8 that someone gave me. But it will not pump water well, when you reve it it will have a little watter shoot out the water outlit, but heres the thing. if you take the cover off be the shift linkage and run the engin it will pump water through just fine
- I've passed on answering your question a couple times, mainly because I'm not sure exactly what you are asking. So let me ask. In the water does the engine overheat? I'm not sure that what you are looking at isn't the relief hole and not the water discharge, which should be under water. How are you supplying water to your engine? Are you running in a barrel? The water pump should be replaced every 2-3 years, so unless you are going to do it yourself, take it to a shop and explain what you are observing. Taking the cowling off will have no effect on the water pump, so I'm guessing you are looking at the wrong place. P.S. This was a common error with Evinrude small motors back in the 70's and 80's, motors similar to yours. The exhaust fin was just behind the propeller. not higher up the leg

- Q: Was I supposed to lube the water pump or what. I really don't know what it could be making the noise now. But it goes away after about 5-25 seconds of running, what could it be?
- no, there's no lubing the water pump. You can have a dry bearing or worn bearing in your Alternator, power steering pump, A/C pump, etc. All these can contribute to a squeak or squeal that can drive you crazy. Glazed belts are another thing, did you check the other belts when you changed your water pump belt? is it a serpentine belt that does it all, or do you have 2 or 3 separate belts? Usually if the noise goes away after awhile, it's a bearing problem.
- Q: My water pump broke on my volkswagen golf tdi so I took it to a garage. He charged me ?250 for a new pump and fitting. When I came to collect it he showed me the broken water pump, when I asked if I could keep the broken pump that was taken out of my car he said that there would be quite a quot;heftysurcharge for me to take it with me because they have to send them back to Volkswagen. I thought it was a bit strange. Is that normal?
- He would have charged you a core charge (sometimes more than the replacement part costs). A lot of companies refurbish old parts and require you to turn in the bad part so they can repair it.
- Q: Why does the water pump leak?
- The leakage of water pump is caused by many factors:1, the axial movement of the bearings (axial clearance is too large, resulting in static and dynamic ring open. Leak water.2, and automotive cooling liquid is also related to, if the pH of the coolant is large, will corrode the water seal of the surface, resulting in leakage.3, and the user's use is also related, and some users do not properly maintain, add an unclean coolant, resulting in impurities in the coolant. Accumulation in the water seal surface, destroy the water seal torus, forming water leakage.
