Q: I found this chair sitting in our garage for about a year now and I want to put it in my bedroom. The problem is that its kinda dirty.. Its like a cream color but it has dark marks on the arms its from my uncles tools. It's not a leather or recliner chair its just a regular sitting chair. I just want to get the dark black marks out of it so I can make it look nice in my bedroom. plus it smells a little.. The tips would greatly be appreciated.. THANK YOU!!
I buy a cleaner at Walmart, Dollar General or Dollar Tree that should work on your chair. It is called LA's Totally AWESOME. It comes in gallon jug, 1/2 gallon or a spray bottle. It's a yellow color liquid. It is very cheap and can be used to clean many things. Use it straight, do not mix with water. I have used it for years on many things and LOVE IT~!!! .....please do not use bleach on the chair.
Q: I have a rocking chair that i'd like to convert to a gliding rocking chair.

Q: i really want to get a chair that i can use in my room!!! i want it to be like a lounge chair not like a kitchen chair!!! please help me i need it!!!

Q: I just recently had my floors changed from carpet to parquet (that wood-looking surface). It looks great but I don't want the chairs for my dining table to scratch it up. What can I put on the legs of the chair to keep it from making that scratchy noise and messing up the parquet (something that looks GOOD [no tennis balls please])
Rob S. has covered it pretty well. I would add however that the adhesive on the felt pads tend not to be the best, so one of two things usually happen. One-After you push back from the table a couple of times after a large meal the pads will shift off-center from the legs. Two - After a year or two the adhesive dries out and the felt no longer sticks. I find a couple of tricks work very well to help these inevitable issues. Make sure the tips of the chairs are clean. Then use some low grit sandpaper and rough up the tip. Again clean the tip to remove all dust. Apply the felt and put weights on the seat for at least 24 hours. Or (and this worked best for me) I used a small drop of construction adhesive to permanently affix the felt to the tips. Hopes this helps.
Q: Just wondering how to go about this. I have four table chairs that i would like to re stain. I tried just sanding it but the old varnish clogs the paper really fast. I tried paint stripper but when I go to remove it I always get tiny splashes that some how get onto my skin and burn like a mofo. I'm using gloves but some always gets on my face, not so good. Could I just soak the chairs in water that has a bit of paint stripper?
Do not soak the chairs in water, it would swell the wood and loosen the glue in the joints. What I suggest is that you get the citrus type of stripper that isn't caustic to your skin. Use the stripper as directed on the container then sand away any remaining marks until your chairs are bare and ready for a new application of finish. I've used the citrus stripper successfully several times. Just allow everything to dry well before you sand again. You'll have to be patient but you'll be pleased with the results. Good luck with your project.
Q: Ok, Is the seat you're in now need a new cushion? Well, mine does. Can you order replacement cushions only? A lot of people I know just throw their whole chair away and buy new....what a waste.
my badonkadonk hurts right now! I am sitting in a wingback chair that was bought as part of our living room set...and not a wise choice...my sister picked the place and the couch and I picked this chair because I liked the way it looked ...now my habonkus is paying the price for cheap furniture... live and learn... I do want to buy a computer chair but there isn't enough room in here... you can buy custom cut pieces of foam from some furniture repair shops and I have seen amatuers do a decent job recovering a chair seat...worth a try...
Q: Help im realy stuck in my chair and i cant get out luckly my charir is rite by my computer and i can post this to my fellow friends on yahoo! help call the firefighters!
how u get stuck to a chair
Q: I am needing to reupholster my dining chairs, and I found some fabric that I really love. It is woven cotton (quilting weight). Can it be used for the dining chairs if I use a protective treatment on it to protect it?
Quilting fabric is not meant to use for upholstery purposes as it will not resist the constant wear and will stain easily, shortening it's life span quite a bit. However, if you really love the fabric, you most certainly can use a heavier gauge clear plastic vinyl over the quilting fabric for a long life and wipe clean feature. I used vinyl on my kitchen chairs and quite frankly, it lasted so long that I actually tired of the fabric and it was in like new condition when I redecorated. Even if you change your mind and use upholstery fabric, you really do not need much fabric. Home Decorating fabric is 54 wide. You will need 2/3 of a yard/24 of fabric for every two chairs. A 54w , 24l piece of fabric cut in half will net you two 27x 24 chair tops. So, you will only need 1 1/3 yards per every four chairs, believe it or not. So, it is affordable. If you get on the JoAnn Fabric mailing list or e-mail list, you get a 40% off coupon you can use in store or on line.
Q: I'm new to trying D-I-Y projects and I just bought a rocking chair in great condition for a steal, but I hate the designs and I need a project for it. It's stained a dark brown and has these weird fruit designs on it. How do I get the stain off? And does anyone have any cool ideas for the finishing touch??
Good timing. I'm sitting at the console at work in a rocker chair. Bored and restless, rocking trying to stay awake.
Q: Basically a chair without legs. Is there a site from which I can order one?
A thick quilt is stretched over the top of the table, with the edges tangling the half meter or so to the floor. This traps the heat (and all the gases from the heater) underneath the table. This would seem to solve the problem at least temporarily: all the nasty carbon monoxide is contained out of the way of human noses.
